cutting

Question Posted Friday January 7 2005, 8:27 pm

ok last night i cut myself in the leg. its not deep or anything just like scrathes and i did it with a really dull razor. i did it because i keep fighting with my friends and i can't help it. i had a dream about it that night and i can't stop thinking about it!! i definately don't want to do it again and i most probably won't. DON'T SAY "TALK TO A PSYCHIOTRIST, CAUSE I DON'T NEED TO!!" i just need to figure ot why i would do this and why i can't stop thinking about it, i mean like i know why. i just feel really screwed up in the head and shocked that i would do this. am i screwed???

You're cutting yourself because you want attention, maybe from your friends, or something. People that cut themeselves for something other than show, don't usually talk about it, and they do it because they don't know why they're feeling pain, and they just need something to feel secure about. ("I feel depressed because, I don't know, but at least I can say that I'm hurting because I cut my leg") Something like that. You on the other hand, just need some attention, not a psychiatrist, they give you medication, a psychologist is something a little more on track. You're not screwed up in the head, and if you were, a psychologist wouldn't be a too far-off request. Hope I helped. -Angel

There is not other way to officially stop without professional help. Sorry but you need it. If you keep fighting with these "friends" of yours they aren't worth you hurting yourself. If you don't talk to someone, you'll regret doing this for the rest of your life.

your fighting with your friends, so your stressed out and your not thinking clear. you always hear about depressed kids, and people going through shit cutting themselves, and you probably thought that maybe itd help. it was new to you and it seemed like thats wat you were supposed to do, so you tried it. you said so yourself that you wont do it again, so as long as you dont, then your ok. your perfectly normal, not screwed up at all. its natural thatd youd try sumthing like that when your thoughts are unclear and your feeling stressed. especially since your a teen and your in school with all these groups. i dunno if what im saying is making sence, but to answer your question..your fine.

You are so not screwed. If you were, you wouldn't be freaking out about this and seriously asking yourself those important qns.

You're wondering why you would cut? Maybe it's because you are lonely? This would make sense if you are fighting with your friends...maybe you could find someone to spend time with who loves you the way you are (your cat, baby brother, mum)...
Maybe the ways you have been working out conflict with your friends aren't making you feel in control...I tend to bottle my feelings up and simmer,I think it's really important to be able to discuss what's bothering you in a way you both (or all...I don't know how many friends you are fighting with) feel safe...

Maybe it's just time to get some new friends! I don't know why you guys are fighting, but if you are feeling this bleak, baby you need to change something in this picture :)

if u feel like cutting again, or want to talk more about it ---please email me: krisi_joy*AT*hotmail
Take care sweeti

My friend Christiana cuts and so do other people at my school. As long as you don't do it again you should be fine. But I would recommend that if you do it again or whether you do or not you talk to a school guidance counselour. They can help.
