about 99 percent of the time, the spotlight is on the stage, and you cant see the people. Just take a deep breath for a moment. Then after that, just concentrate on your lines. Then go out there, and look over the people's heads. This helps with me. Dont look at their faces, look directly over their heads, and you wont feel that nervous. Trust me on this one because I've had experience. Oh yeah, good luck with your play!

You can't really get rid of it just like that. You just have to try and get comfortable with being in front of people. A lot of people just deal with it, and eventually get over their fears over time, after they've done it forever. Don't even think about the crowd, focus on your performance. ]
try to block them out... if you can't... act like they are your friends or extras in the play. Have staring contests with strangers, yell in public (that helps to get over fear of people staring at you or fear of not being able to speak when on stage) do crazy things in public then you won't be so scared to do something normal like a play. Practice a million times. Try being in character for a whole day at school... that means use the accent/voice, wear the clothes/makeup or hair, and act like that character... ask friends/coworkers/classmates/family to come and get about 100 people or so to watch a dress rehearsal. Breathe deeply. Eat before you go on stage so that you won't faint. Drink water before you go on stage so that your mouth won't get dry/chapped... a prepared person is more likely to be ready. :) Good luck! ]
start with a small crowd and build up to the point when you are done with stage fright ]

Dont be AFRAID! Remember when you would play dolls when you were little and you would just be in your own little imaginary little world, while your family and friends look at you like * WHAT THE HECK IS SHE DOING? * and you like take your barbie or dinosaur or w/e and use it to fly around like superman and jump off cliffs, you didnt care what they thought you were having fun, you amzed yourself. Just remember your lines! and be like you were when you were little just ZONE them out, Pretend its like PLAYHOUSE when you and your friends would cook and be the mom and dad and the babies! Dont pay attention to them!!! There nothing. They dont care if you mess up they will just think its part of the play and if you fall or w/e just make it look funny!! be like hahah minor slipage. Be funny if its a funny play be SERIOUS if its a serious be romantic if its a romantic play. Dont pay attention to the auidence their there to watch you perform. Not on if u screw up. DONT BE AFRAID! I used to be afraid. Just pretend its only you and rehersal. Noone cares if you mess up their too busy paying attention to not messing up themselves, Even if you do they will just laugh, and thats good making people laugh is awesome. ALOT of people isnt ALOT! just imagine yourself at home infront of the mirror just you and the reflection of you!! Your not afraid are you? Just pretend thats all acting is. You do it your whole life. Its just another ORDINARY Day. IIght! So dont be all freaked out. ITS NOTHIN! Just take a deep breathe, breathe in breathe out count down from ten and shake your hands before entering the stage. TRUST ME! YOu will be *GREAT* :)

The key is to stay in character. IF your not you and your your character how can you be nervous. Just think of it this way: most people fear talking in front of others more than death, so that makes you an extremely couragous person!
I hope this helps leave one in my inbox,

just dont pay attention to the people watching and pay attention to what ur doing just pretend ur talking to a person like u normally would.. u shouldnt have any problems.. - christina =) ]
Hey! Haha I used to have the same problem, I dance, sing, and act! First I started doing things in front of my friends..then the group got a little bigger..and a little bigger..and a little bigger. Just take your time with each group until you are confortable with it, then move on. Also look at the top of the audience's heads or look at a spot on the wall on the other side! Hope I helped..Good Luck with your play!

Well, when i was in a play my school put on, i was really scared too! But when i got up there, i noticed that in most spots of the stage, the lights are so blinding that you cant even see the audiance. I loved that part!! lol and if you dont have the same type of lights as i had, just pick a spot, (if you have to look out at the audiance) and look at that or around that the whole time. People will most likely think that you're looking at them anyway!!
Dont worry you'll do GREAT!!
hope i helped!! ]
when you act, your not yourself, you enter a whole different realm...if you know what i mean, and when your on stage, you know your not allowed to break the 4th wall, that seperates you from the audiance, so when your on stage, act as if you were that character, your in that world, because if your living in an actual world there arnt people there watching your every move, so put your self in character, put the 4th wall up, and forget the audiance is there ]
if ur in a play then ur acting, acting is taking on the personality of another, so u have no reason to be nervous, just let the character take over and just do ur best, everyone will love u, i promise

pretend they aint there. pretend its just rehersal with u 1 on 1. Tell your self that its going to be okay and dont worry about it have fun"!! ]
I feel your pain sweetie. Im an actress, and i get those pre-performance jitters too. Heres what you do...take you nervousness and turn it into energy and use that energy. I know what you are thinking, easier said that done, right? Well, just focus on all of the hard work you have done and how much you have looked forward to this moment. You'll do great! Break a leg hun ;) Hope i helped :)

just dont think about all the people...just do it like u practiced it ! :) ]
Okay, I have awful stage fright. I tried out for a talent show last year, and compleatly blew it, but now I know what I did wrong. First thing, ALWAYS be prepared. Even if it's the littlest thing, it's good to know your ready. Second, DON'T drink a lot before you go on stage. It seems that every time you go on stage you have to pee. So less water before, less bathroom breaks. Third try deep breathing before you go on. Learn some relaxing methods to calm your self down, tension makes you nervous, and when your nervous you tend to screw up. And finally, forget about what others think of you when your on stage. Just pretend they're not there. I know that is a lot to ask for, but it's just easer to pretend no one is watching. And if you do mess up, you now know what you need to work on next time. And I bet everybody in your class is at least as nervous as you are. You should talk with them about doing somekind of chant or something before you go on, I know it sounds cheezy and stuff, but it really works. ]
Just dont think of the people..Lol..I alwaysssssssssssssss useta be on stage fer band, an singin..an..errything..i played percussion..anyways..dont look at all the people...dont pay attention to them =) ]
