Question Posted Wednesday October 27 2004, 10:06 pm
My period is very heavy on the first few days. I usually use pads and slender tampons. I was wondering is there any way for me to make me period less heavy? I tried using a 'super' tampon but it hurts because I'm not big enough down there. Is there anything I can do? I'm sick and tired of feeling like I'm wearing a diaper but my period's too heavy for the small tampons.
I'd try using the Regular tampons, since the little ones don't work that well. Or you chould change them more often, but thats a pain at times. I am on birth control and it's made them SO much lighter!! I get them for about 2 1/2 days and it's super light. I don't know if that's an option for you or not thought. I hope that helps a little bit! Good luck!

I think there is a pill which you can take to make them less heavy though. Bear in mind that you probably weren't relaxed enough when you tried the super tampon. You were probably too tense which made it hard for it to go in. If you are relaxed, then any size tampon will fit because the vagina is stretchy. Like for your next period use a regular flow, plus a pad, then try a medium-to heavy tampon plus a thin pad. Your vagina will eventually stretch to... I guess accomadate, a bigger tampon. I only wore pads but that never helped, i felt disgusted. Then i moved to tampons all the way to a super plus and they still dont hold in all the blood. My advice to you is if you cant fit a bigger tampon up there you should talk to your doctor about birth control its really the only solution to the problem and it works wonders! It helps make your period lighter and your cramps won't hurt as much!!! Try it! [ AnGeLtHuGsTa's advice column | Ask AnGeLtHuGsTa A Question ]
Karen answered Wednesday October 27 2004, 10:14 pm: I know how it feels to have a heavy period for the first few days! I told my mom and she told me that she would let me go on Birth Control so that it will help regulate my period! Also, there is this new medicine type thing that I forget the name of it but it's alwaysd on comercials and it only makes you have your period only 4 times a year but that can be dangerous! Just ask your doctor about this and he will probably put you on Birth Control! Hope I helped :) [ Karen's advice column | Ask Karen A Question ]
Siren_Cytherea answered Wednesday October 27 2004, 10:13 pm: What kind of tampons do you use? I'm not exactly big down there either, and I found that the really "slender" ones didn't work to stop the flow. (I used to use Playtex slimfits) Try regular Tampax Pearl. Those are GREAT. Lol. I hate pads too, so I know how you feel. Try tampax pearl. Those are a little bigger than things like playtex slimfits, but not big enough to hurt.
I hope this helps!
