Okay, school is really stressful, DUH!! But this year I've decided no more bad grades for me and I'm starting off fresh this year. I'm going to get good grades, thats my goal. But I don't have the energy or excitement or whatever you want to call it to do my homework and sometimes even school work. I'm very organized. I just want to get good grades. Any ideas? I'm graduating in like almost 2 years. I want to make it the best.

I personally think school is stupid.. they say they're trying to prepare us for the real world, but what they're teaching us we'll never use in the real world! But what I'm doing right now is trying to keep a social life, but put aside atleased 2 hours for school. I have a study period, so I have something to lean on when I slack off. But try and MAKE yourself do the work, and just imagine how good you'll feel when you get that report card. After you graduate with great grades, so many options will be open. But this is the key: MAKE yourself do the work.. This might sound kind of stupid, but my biggest motivation was reading "Chicken Soup for the Teenagers Soul." Some of their stories showed me how if you take something for granted, one day it'll be gone. I wish you the best in school!! Maybe one day me and you will be working together finding the cure for cancer! muh ha ha!! Just think about what you can do when you graduate.. But also make leaning fun, might be impossible, but it's worth trying.. Good luck and school, and I hope you find some solid motivation.. everyone is different. Hope I helped! -Ce [ oxDaYxDreaMxo's advice column | Ask oxDaYxDreaMxo A Question ]
XoToTaLLy_SwEeT_7 answered Saturday October 23 2004, 11:31 am: If you want good grades you NEED to do all your homework and turn in all your work. I dont do very well on tests and quizzes but my teachers always raise my grade alot when i turn in all my work cuz its a big part of your grade. Study when you have tests or quizzes and pay attention so you know whats going on. If your still not doin well then you should ask the teacher if you can do extra credit. If you do all these things you'll get a good grade. Hope I helped and good luck! <3Juliet<3 [ XoToTaLLy_SwEeT_7's advice column | Ask XoToTaLLy_SwEeT_7 A Question ]
CoffeeBeanz answered Saturday October 23 2004, 9:34 am: Listen, i am an A grade student, and have always felt like i didnt need to study to be the top. Recently i moved schools, and discovered that i am not the top any more. i had to work much harder to keep up that A. The only advice i can give you is the same advice given to the music students on Sister Act 2; if you want to be somebody, if you want to go somewhere, you better wake up and pay attention. thats the only peice of advice you need. but have fun too. the worst thing that could happen is if you become a nerd! Also, try a positive attitude the whole year round, just as you seem to have now. [ CoffeeBeanz's advice column | Ask CoffeeBeanz A Question ]
Always answered Friday October 22 2004, 11:21 pm: Aw, I just feel like giving up on HW & school work, too, sometimes. When those days roll around, I usually get with one/a group of my friends and get them to help. Like..one big study/HW help group. Lol, it's fun, cause you're with your buddies, and it also helps you get your work done! (It also helps you, because if you just studied allll the time, and left your friends out, they'd probably feel neglected.) :D [ Always's advice column | Ask Always A Question ]

S_C answered Friday October 22 2004, 8:53 pm: Okay, you need a fixed schedule.
You get home, have a healthy snack. You do homework for one subject, when you're done, take a 15-20 minute break from the rest of your homework, and get some fresh air. Do homework from another subject, when finished with that subjects homework, then take another break, and so on.
If you have more than one assignment for a certain subject, like definitions, and answering questions, do one part of it, take a 10 minute break, and do the other part of it.
If I have homework that I don't find interesting, I play music in the background to soothe my soul, and get me in the mood (sounds a bit wrong the way I put it, so sorry.) I'm able to multi task, you might not be, so the music could be a distraction.
Just make yourself a schedule, and don't eat dinner until your homework is done, because then you could always go to bed before finishing it.
And I know in high school they don't give you agendas or anything to write your homework down in, so but a little notebook or something, and make sure to write down all your assignments. Try to make it as fun as possible. If you don't understand something, then try to 'act it out' and make it realistic.
Hope I'm of some assistance, sorry if I'm not. [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
Cath answered Friday October 22 2004, 8:50 pm: Hello there.
Wow, I'm a bit like you except I'm messy (and I don't sleep) and I'm unorganized and that holds em back a lot. The organization gives you an advantage. Well... maybe you should set up some rules for yourself. Make s chedule and STICK TO IT! For instance... make an hour for homework (or 2 depending on how much it takes) and when that hour comes screw every excuse NOT to do your homework. Make it like a game or a task or whatever. Keep a clock or watch in front of you and PRESSURE yourself (...um... unless you suck to work under pressure) to finish your homework BEFORE the hour (or hours) is up. Reward yourself if you do finish and punish yourself by working "after hours" if you don't and just finish your homework off with the rest of the time (...thinking of yourself as a failure).
Honestly this would take too much effort to work for me. What I would do is take a moment to depress myself and think of how I'm a loser. Once I've convinced myself I think of what to do to change it. That gives me motivation.
Hope I somehow helped... Blessed Be... [ Cath's advice column | Ask Cath A Question ]
Sherry answered Friday October 22 2004, 8:42 pm: it works to set times to do your homework. like after school, give yourself a hour to eat, rest, whatever. Then do your homework straight for one hour-a break for 15 minutes, and then finish your homework. No one has energy or excitement to do their homework, but just think..once its done..its done and you can have the rest of the day to yourself. [ Sherry's advice column | Ask Sherry A Question ]
