Sorry this is long, but to me it's IMPORTANT
okay, I want to get a cell phone, and I have the money to buy one, but my mom said that she won't pay for the bill, so I was thinking of getting the minute cards, because I babysit a lot, just I don't babysit regularly, and I don't have a job, so pretty much I was wondering where I could get minute cards and maybe how much they are

hmmu can get a trac phone from walmart the phone ranges from 50-100 or sumthing and u can get 100 minutes for 30 dollars

I have a Verizon Wireless pre-payed cell phone. They call it Free-up for some gay reason. Anyway, you dont get a monthy bill which is great. All you gotta do is have $74 to buy a non flip phone and $99 to buy the flip phone. They charge a $20 fee to turn on your phone and give you a number and you need to buy your minutes. You can pay $30 for a card and thats like 5 hours of talk time, which is alot if you ask me, use a house phone for long calls. Online you can get $15 cards which is 2 1/2 hours and theyve got ones that are $50 and $75. You can get the cards like everywhere, walmart, radio shack, price chopper. okay well if you get cards for a cell phone its a tracfone. my sisters have them . well you can get them at walmart . it depends on how much minutes you want . like if u want alot they are expencive! like my uncle got 1000 for like 500$ i think. I would say get a Verizon Prepaid phone. They are ALOT cheaper! You can also buy the minute cards in wal-mart and stores like that. if you go with just the regular trac-fone, its rip off. Thats what I have.. and I HATE IT. My sister buys 80 minutes for $35 less than I can buy them. She has Verizon.. But thats just what I say..

yes you can get a prepaid cell phone! maybe you should try cingular wireless or something because there cards do not cost alot! but i have prepaid and i have tracfone and it sucks!! it costs $20 for a 40 min card while on cingular it costs like $20 for a 200 min phone!

If you have $30 each month, then you should look at the Verizon pre-paid, T-Mobile pre-paid, and the other major companies. What their pre-paid plans are is essentially the same idea as their regular plans, with different minutes for different times, peak hours and stuff, only without getting your credit card involved.
Virgin Mobile however, gives you a steady rate, it's always $0.25 a minute, so it's easier to keep track of your usage.
As for the cards themselves, you can buy them at 7-11, pharmacies, lots of places. Each company has an online locater telling you where you can buy them. Most companies have them for $20, $30, $50 or $60, $75, and $100.
You also need to check the expiration rates on the cards. With the major companies, the more you pay, the longer it lasts. $30 gets you one month, $60 gets you 2 months, so it really just follows an average.
Virgin Mobile, all their cards last 3 months.
In the end, it comes down to how much you're going to need the phone. If you think you're going to use it as much as a regular plan cell phone, go for the bigger companies. If not, go with Virgin Mobile.

You can get minute cards at lots of places. First, try the store that you bought your cell phone at, they will deffinatley have them. I know that Staples and other office supply stores have them, and some grocery stores (if they have them, they will probably be near the checkouts). Also check gas stations and conveinience marts. Just so you know, the cost is about 50 cents a minute, and you can buy cards with 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 100 minutes, so the cost is different depending on what kind of card you buy.
