But are you sure you can still try out for cheerleading? Because most squads have their tryouts at the end of the previous school year. Maybe your school is different, I don't know. But you wouldn't necessarily be a flyer if you did make it, we have tiny girls on our squad who can base + stuff, too. But anyways, I'd give soccer a shot if I were you. You've done it for so long, and you'd probably be a good asset to the team. And you don't want to regret quitting later on -- I know I regret quitting a few things that I was quite good at at the time and then .. yeeeah. Bad decisions. But anyways, then [[ if your school has seperate tryouts ]] you could cheer basketball season and see which you like better or if you just want to do them both. I don't know, do what YOU really want to do. [ xo_dream's advice column | Ask xo_dream A Question ]
Moop answered Saturday August 28 2004, 4:51 pm: high school is a beautiful time of opportunities, none of which you are required with an iron fist to take. Do what you want to do. From the sounds of it you want to do cheerleading, go for it. I wanted to do scholastic bowl and I love it, but I couldn't do any of the other activities due to timing. This was okay for me because schobowl was so great, but if you don't like it you can always fall back on soccer like I could've fallen onto my secondary choices. My point: always keep your options open and do what you want to do, not what your friends want to do or what you're even great at if you don't want to do it. Twinkle7371 answered Saturday August 28 2004, 1:49 am: If you try out for the cheerleading team i would work on my splits and strengthen my legs for jumps before the tryouts. oh ya make sure your voice is short but loud, your motions stiff, and smile!
On the other hand i would say to deffinentaly do soccer because you have worked so long to get to how good you are and it is going to finnally pay off because YOU GET TO BE ON THE HS TEAM! And that would be Very cool. But thats just my opinoin because the highschool i will go to is huge and being on a team is a big deal.
Hope it helped
XxTBSgirlxX answered Friday August 27 2004, 11:10 pm: Well i am a cheerleader and its tons of fun! i never used to be flexible (and you would be going out for Varsity since your going to be a freshman) but now i can do splits and scorpions and all that good junk. You should deff. do cheerleading but make sure your STIFF and have great facials! Dont make yourself look slutty cuz that makes your squad/school look bad. you should do soccer too but if its getting old dont do it, try something new and be ambitous. If you have any other questions on cheerleading just ask me! (IM me on nikkirox45) and i'll help you w/ whatever u want, im an expert ;)
rosebud_01 answered Friday August 27 2004, 10:32 pm: I think that you should continue doing soccer at least during your freshmen year and if you still want to be a cheerleader you could ask some cheerleaders to see if your weight would be a problem. If it is then you can work on it and be able to try out your sophomore year but also if your weight is not a problem I still think that you should try cheerleading your sophomore year that way you can see how the cheerleaders are in high school and you can get an idea of what you would have to do to become one if that is still what you want to do. Hope that I helped you. [ rosebud_01's advice column | Ask rosebud_01 A Question ]
