I think you should stick to it if you like it,you don't have to be professional to write!!

Read a shitload
especially contemporary stuff

Avoid clichés
"My heart shattered into a million pieces" has been said before. Many, many times.

Show, don't tell
"My brother is a slob" vs. "My brother wears his snot-stained undershirts for three days straight"

Use more concrete words (watermelon, hairy, pink) and fewer abstract words (freedom, sadness, love)

Use metaphor+similie
but no clichés, of course

Be original
be able to see what people see everyday in a new way

Revise, revise, revise
Writing workshop groups can be found at school, in the community, and online

being able to write songs and poems and stories is all about talent.. im not saying that you cant practivce and do it.... i mean... its a hard thing to do.. it takes a while to write a goood song... and poems take a while too.. stories.. i wouldnt know about.. but just when something pops in your head that sounds cool... write it down... and then just always keep it in the back of your mind and when you here something else thats cool... write taht down and add on... trust me.. it works

Write about whatever comes to mind, but don't get rid of anything you don't think is good. Later you might be able to reword it or change it in some way to make it better. Also, if you learn many different styles of writing you should be able to find a style that best suits you. Improving your vocabulary might do wonders for your writing, too.

Write about something that you've experianced or whatever is on your mind at the time. That makes it more personal and something that you can relate to, because it's your life.

=) hope i helped!!

Just sit outside and write about the very first thing that comes to your mind. Maybe write about your everyday life issues. The best ideas sometimes come from the craziest places. Write about anything you like or about one of your friends. It'll come to you.

well i'm a good writer and I found using my own method works better than what they teach you in school. you know how some teachers make you do an outline or write down little thoughts and stuff? well I don't do that I just start writing and when I finally stop I go back and read it then make changes.

Writing, like anything, gets better the more you do it. Real authors would tell you that what comes out of their pen (or computer!) the first time round is not the same as the book you hold in your hands.

Be prepared to just write when you feel like it - you might only get one good sentence out of an entire page, but that's one incredible sentence you didn't have before. Concentrate on getting your emotions/words out the first time, and then you can worry about making it look pretty.

Hey. It's okay. Writing is my passion, and I've wanted to do it my how life...but I've been told I suck. And I'm learning to live with it, but I can't give up my 10 years of writing because I'm bad. i love doing it. And I like it. So I keep going. And i've gotten much better the more I do it. If you do something enough...you get better, promise. It's a well known fact. But never give up something because you're not good at. :D...TIPS: Write alot, and go to fictionpress.com and post your stuff there (if you'd like of course) People review your stuff and give you suggestions on how to make it better, and the best? It's completely free. -<3- Mere
