Definitely don't stay out too long. If you're fair skinned, you'll get red right away. Don't do more than an hour, and that might be pushing it. Use protection..seriously. I have very tan skin and I tan really easily, but when I wear sunscreen not only does it protect me, but it gives me an even nicer color (with less of a burn!) Tanning a little every day will prevent a burn and you'll gradually get a nice base tan. Hope it works!

I suggest using tanning lotions because skin cancer these days is kinda big but if you are still gonna do it i suggest wearing a lot of sunblock or else you will get burnt and will have a higher chance of getting skin cancer. Also i should add dont sit in the sun for too long the longest i suggest is 30mins because your fair so its gonna take longer for you to tan and if you sit in the sun too long you gonna get burnt really bad i suggest going tanning every day for small periods of time which will prevent you from getting burnt and still give you a good tan.

If you use a low SPF sunblock, you WiLL still get some color. It may take longer, but you can still get a bit of a tan. I'd use sunblock the first few times you lay out, and then if you don't burn or anything // start to tan, you can just use nothing. If you don't get burnt doing this, you could probably use a tanning lotion, but don't lay out for as long, because if you lay out too long, chances are, you WILL burn. Be careful + good luck! :o)

Use tanning oil. You can go for as long as you want, just be careful not to get burned- because then you will peel and lose your tan, and that would suck. Hah-have fun tho! xo|Jennifer*

well if u are like as white as a red headed person (no offence to anyone) u should wear sun screen and u will tan if u are that light
and the second option is to wear taning oil and u will burn but u should turn brow after the burn goes away

hotcherry answered Tuesday August 3 2004, 1:30 am:
use tanning oil...the time you stay out there all depends on the weather and how the sun is =P! i usually do 30 mins on my back and 30 on my stomach. if you get a high spf sunblock you won't tan.

i use baby oil..either use that or canola oil..don't stay out too long though because if you're fair skinned you will burn easily..and yes they sell tanning lotions that help you tan but hava an spf15 to stop you from burning..
