hun,
you need to talk to your mom. she would be more grateful to get the pills for you than to get you baby blankets. she will understand.
good luck!!

Talk to a doctor, they can tell you more. It depends on what kind of birth control you take. I have taken the pill (ortho-tri-cyclen) and the shot (deprovera) They both involve mood swings or bitchiness, ortho could make you loose some hair, and a few other bad side effects. It's been a while since I took it. Also, if you don't take it correctly, which means EVERY day, at the SAME time each day, then it is not effective. Not everyone gets those side effects, and not every gets them as bad. And, if you can get past them, they only last a few months.

With deprovera, it might also cause a small amount of weight gain. This mostly only happens bothers you if you are already over weight. But the good thing about that is that you don't bleed. You still have pms and everything, but you don't bleed. Whether or not this is a good thing, it's up to you, my gynocologist has always told me that it doesn't hurt. But when you think about how bleeding each month cleans your insides out, then you might think otherwise.

You need to talk to a doctor about which choice is good for you. Your doctor cannot tell your parents anything about what you tell them, at least in my state(Maine) There are also a lot of free clinics around, focusing on birth control and woman care. Try to find out about those.

I would suggest taking birth control AND using condoms. You can never know if someone has an STD or not, so if you don't completely trust your partner then don't take a chance.

the day after pill is medicene you take... the day after.... you have sex. though id' say its not very reliable.
some girls/women don't have any side effects, but many can get sick from them... not serious, just like, a stomach ache for 3 or 4 hours.
almost every town that has a population of over 4,000 people has a pregnancy clinic... even one just devoted to teens. they might not give the pills to you, you may need at least a guardian (aunt, uncle, granparent) that you trust to be present for it. it's worth a try though, ask the nurse's at the clinic what you can get without parental permission.

Lizzy answered Tuesday July 20 2004, 2:13 pm:
Side effects: no baby, more cramps during your period, and small migranes.
Mother?: yes you can, just get it at a drug store, tell her you need to pick up shampoo and conditioner and just buy that too. Also, if you have any sexually active friends, they probably are stocked with them
Day After the Pill: You have to check if your pregnant that day, otherwise, it may not come up right. You wanna be carefull when using a pill because if it doesn't work completely, and you do have a baby, it will be brain damaged.

okay birth control has only a few side effects like mild weight gain, unless you get the kind specially made for teenagers or has low hormone levels. birth contol is good for acne or contolling your period schedule. you can get it w/o telling your mom by going to a free clinic of some kind. the day after pill is called RU-486 and thats an abortion pill. its for if you have unprotected sex and may be pregnant. i think you can get that at a free clinic too.

MFS answered Tuesday July 20 2004, 1:56 pm:
First off - talk to a doctor...

Side effects of birth control varies form person to person - no two women will have the exact same side effects due to differences in individual body chemistry / hormone levels. Some common side effects are migraine headaches and mood swings. There are likely many more.

The "day after" pill, or RU-486, is a controvorsial matter. If you need it, you probably shouldn't be having sex in the first place. It inhibits a fertilized embryo from implanting itself on the uterine wall (or at least this is what I recall without bothering to look it up). It has other uses in treating forms of cancer.

If you are trying to get these things without your parents knowing, no offense, but that seems to indicate that you are probably too young to be on taking them in a responsible manner. Afterall, birth control is a matter of responsibility, not an excuse to not be responsible.
