I've decided to start using tampons because I get my period every two or three weeks and it lasts for a week and I dont wanna sit home for a whole week for most of the summer and do nothing. Well the other day I got my period so I used a tampon and when I took it out, it hurt. Is this normal? This question is to the girls so please help me out!

xo_dream answered Tuesday July 20 2004, 5:36 pm: There are a few possibilities ..
- it could just be a matter of your body getting used to it
- you could've pulled it out at an odd angle
- if the tampon is still pretty dry, it tends to hurt, so try using a lower absorbancy or leaving it in longer
I'd try using the junior // slim kind for now, and seeing if that helps at all.
Lizzy answered Monday July 19 2004, 3:56 pm: Tampons actually are dirtier than anything else. Try using pads for a while, because you might have an infection. If it starts to hurt really bad, tell your mom or go to a doctor, don't be imbarressed. (you get your period a lot!) lol.

OctobersCatastrophe answered Monday July 19 2004, 3:46 pm: When I first started using tampons, it hurt just a bit and to take out. So I suppose it may be normal. Also, at the end of your period when it starts to bleed a lot less, using a tampon may hurt to take out because it's not full with blood, and some parts or most of it is still dry. If this happened at the end of your period, on the last 1 or 2 days maybe you should just used pads so it's less painful. Another reason that it may have hurt you when you pulled it out is because since your new to tampons you're not used to it, or you could have inserted it wrong! I hope this helps! xbellaxobambinax69 answered Monday July 19 2004, 3:37 pm: as far as normal it depends on the situation...did it feel uncomfortable when you had it in? if it did then maybe you didnt put it in right or maybe you didnt put it in deep enough? you really have to be careful with tampons. also if you didnt leave it in long enough then it was still dry and yeah i could imagine that would hurt. make sure to pay attention to what size tampon you use depending on how heavy your period is if it is really heavy use super ect. but if the pain continues then maybe you should ask your doctor about it. xox Emily [ xbellaxobambinax69's advice column | Ask xbellaxobambinax69 A Question ]
Sw3eTi3_xO answered Monday July 19 2004, 3:31 pm: Well, it's simple. First, did you leave it in for long enough? If you don't leave it in until it's completely full, it hurts when you pull it out. OR, maybe you're just not used to it yet. Tampons take a little time to get used to. If it continues to hurt, try leaving it in for like another 45 minutes to an hour and see what happens!! Roxybabii922 answered Monday July 19 2004, 3:31 pm: It depends, if it was uncomfortable when you had it in you probably had it in wrong, but I dunno if it was your first time using it that could be the reason it hurt [ Roxybabii922's advice column | Ask Roxybabii922 A Question ]
