Is it right or wrong in God's eyes?

Question Posted Sunday June 27 2004, 6:34 pm

I am a Christian girl. My parents like to go to a supposedly "Christian Phycic" He says that God gives him his powers. I dont really believe in ANYTHING a phycic says, but my parents do. Is this phycic a sin in God's eyes? Please help me understand!

Read up on Edgar Cayce. he was a good Godfearing man who had the ability to heal others and prophcize whenever he went into trance. He is also known as the Seer. Many people after that have claimed to "Have this Power", many are hoaxes, some are true, but if yourr having serious doubts about this guy, find some way to talk your parents out of meeting up wtih that fraud and giving him all your money.

Well, God tells us that we need to stand up for what we believe in. You can think this "Phycic" is a basket case without being rude to your parents. God thinks we're all equal, and I don't think he would grant anyone special powers.

Actually yes, it is because God cannot give anyone His ability. He can provide opporutnities for them to be a preacher but like Benny Henn... God does his miracles through HIS OWN POWER!!! So yes, it is a sin in Gods eyes.

Umm...well if you think about it, all the old prophets were sort of phsychics. But seeing as all of those guys are dead, it's kind of hard for me to believe in these new guys. See, the thing is, this guy (or girl whatever) is probably just trying to call attention to themselves. If they want money- they're making stuff up. Even if they aren't- they're probably making it up. It's the same thing with the so called "healers". Get a Concordia study Bible and look it up in the back under index and see if it says anything against it (it also says the church leaders are a brood of vipers- not so nice, eh?) But either way, the sins of this person don't fall onto you. Your job is to just follow God, show him to others through your actions....stuff like that.

No matter what your religion, you shouldn't base decisions on a psychic. I'm pretty sure it's not technically a 'sin' but charging people for God given powers is probably frowned upon. Technically, saying God gives him his power, might be stepping on some issues and some may see that as calling himself a bit of a prophet.
The guy is probably cracked and missing a few marbles, your parents can make their own decisions but you might want to consider not taking this guys advice or words of wisdom. Don't try to change the future, just make wise decisions from your own instinct and based on your own morals.

If he charges people anything, then yes. If he doesn't, then yes.

I am also a Christian... and I have been raised to believe that phycics are against God. They cant get their "powers" from Jesus. It doesnt work that way, no matter how convincing he may! Hope I helped!

The psychic is sinning by lieing to your parents and stealing if he is making them pay for the readings.
