Im a level 5 in gymnastics with various skills in higher levels like 6 and 7 and have done gymnastics for 7 or 8 years. For a better switch leap, you need height, and lots of practice. Also, make sure your splits are near the ground if not touching. Im still working on mine. I practice on a trampoline. Sorry if I didnt help!!!

try to put all your effort into going up instead of out (you don't want to travel a lot), make it fast, don't lean forward, try not to bring your first leg up too high...drills include working on a trampoline and leg swings and any exercises for leg and hip strength - and of course you have to have your splits! lol hope i helped <3

well i have been dancing for 10 years (since i wuz 3) and split leaps are hard. our coach helped us do a stretch where u sit in ur splits and lean forward and back and keep ur nose to the floor for awhile. but what really halped me was u get these ankle weights and u put them on ur ankles and jump with them everyday. very soon yuor vertical jump is higher so you have more time to get your switch while ur up in the air. i hope this helps cuz switch leaps are frustrating!!

Ekk.. those are hard. I've been dancing for 17 years.. and here's my advice... start working on the trampoline doing them so your legs get used to the switch.. and then.. try it on the floor.. basically I try to twist my hips in mid-air to get the switch to happen.. hope this helps.

For me, it just took a lot of practice. I can't see you doing it, so I can't tell you if you're doing anything wrong or not, but most likely if you keep working on it, it'll come :o). Talk to your teacher/coach and see if they can help you out, after all that *is* their job. :o) Good luck!
