WHY??
Anyone care to explain why so many dumb***es insist on having sex before they turn 18!!!!!!!!! It's bad enough they don't wait until after marriage, that I can live with easily, but COME ON PEOPLE, it's illegal. SOMEONE TELL ME WHY!!

Hi i do not apperciate being called DUMB! I was 17 when I got pregnet and 18 when i had my beutifull daughter. I am now 20 years old and have gratuaded high school and now am in college for dental hygien. Ya i think teens getting pregnat is not really a good thing, but they do not have to be called dumb. I am a better person because of my daughter. Also maybe kids are having sex at such a young age has something to do with their parents. They did not teach them or tell them about sex or maybe they are just not good role models i dont know. I mean sense you so called grown up people are so smart then why dont you talk to your kids at a young age. I know that may not work but its worth the try. No one can make someone do something but you can always try to guide them in the right direction and be there for them. I do not like people calling teens dumb you were once one yourself.

Wow...I can't believe the amount of ignorant people here. I really dont think having sex before marriage should be illegal. I think people who think its wrong to have sex before marriage are closed-minded. Not everything's black and white....having sex before marriage is not always wrong. If you think about it, and decide that you're ready to have sex, then why shouldnt you? I think its only sad when someone gives it up "just to do it". Some people dont even value their virginity...why does it matter to you if someone's given it up if it didnt even matter to them? Thats like getting worked up because someone gave away a toy or any other object that they didnt value. Everyone has their own reasons. Everybody's different. What do you care if people are having sex before marriage anyway? It's their decision.

Umm, for the record.. all of you can call teenagers dumb for it, but I'm 16 and definately not an innocent soul. However, having sex when you're under 18 is no more stupid than having sex after the age of 18, or after marriage. It all depends on how stupid you are concerning contraceptive methods. Surprisingly, a lot more teens are interested in things like birth control nowadays.
Just because you think they're stupid, doesn't mean you have any right to say they actually are. Maybe you just need to go get laid.

Is it really illegal? I aint never seen any of my friends getting hauled off to jail for getting pregnant, and please, look at it from their point of view. A lot of times people will do it to feel good about themselves.

i don't wanna sound lose or NE thing but sex befour age 18 has been around for a long time, it's just now it's more in the spot light, so ya teen pragnancy rates have increased but more than likely thats because most teens are not taught how to use birth controll proprley. AND don't go and blame it on tv shows eather, fact is kids like to do taboo things and right now sex is taboo.when you just gives up and says sex is ok has long has you use protection, the amount of kids "doing it" will will decress i bet ya.

It was like this since way back....only it's /more/ out of control these days.
They just do whatever they and and what they don't know most of. The less they know and the more they watch those TV shows with sex in them, the more they would do it.
It also depends on their lifestyle or if their parents are at home, if they listen to the or if they beat them.

In most states it actually isn't illegal. People who have sex before marriage are not dumbasses. It's simply a matter of opinion. My parents waited until they got married, but I have a friend who's just turning 16 (which is the legal age in michigan, for example) and lost her virginity. *Shrug*

I ask myself that everyday. well pretty much teens are drawn in to what the new trend is and if sex is the new thing then they are going to do it. Don't let yourself get caught up in the trends

I think you just answered your own question.
But I'll elaborate.
Teenagers can have sex for many reasons. I feel the biggest one, however, is the media and peer pressure to be "cool". Having sex is recognised as being grown-up and popular and cool among teenagers, and the messages in the media of Britney Spears and other such people wearing hardly nothing and telling kids it's sexy and cool doesn't help.
They can also believe they are in "love", whether they are or not is another matter. Hormones rage a LONG time before you get to eighteen, so lust is a big part of it too.
Of course, they could just be dumb***es.
