You could get into serious trouble over this.
99% of the time you won't... but you can.
FernGully answered Tuesday December 30 2003, 1:31 am: Yes. Now think about this for a second. If no one pays for any of their software then where will the money come from to create the software or pay the wages of those who must develop and make it?
metawidget answered Monday December 29 2003, 5:04 pm: Only if it's non-free software (i.e. much of it). Someone is feeding their kids on that software's returns, even if their CEO may be buying their third Hummer on it too.
Free software, like OpenOffice, Mozilla, Linux, the GIMP, etc. is free as the air you breathe... and it doesn't suck. It's made by hobbyists or people who make their money by consulting or custom work (or with their day jobs), and they want you to have it. There's lots of programming, multimedia, OS, office and Internet software made under one Free license or another. [ metawidget's advice column | Ask metawidget A Question ]
Lizzy answered Monday December 29 2003, 3:08 pm: Yes it is, but everyone does it and it can't be that bad. Just try to do it, it'll be fine. Also, what software is it, some is illegal but some it is not. Just check and make sure it is not, then if it is not, it'll be fine.
Good Luck
