new with the old I own all this awesome modern purple furniture, but my realitor just showed me a house decorated in traditional hunter green. Think I'll be able to make it work, or should I not even think about it? I can't afford to have carpets and wallpaper replaced, but I really like this house.

Cool. Do it! Add green plants to your decor and some pinks and purple accent pillows. Good luck ]
New with the Old,
Purple and Green SO GO!!! They work very well together. What would look even better is if you added green plants to the house, it would decorate it and make the green stand out more, especially sence purple is such a stand-out sort of color!! I think you would be just fine if you bought the house.
Hope that Helps,

home made slip covers may take a while.. but they do wonders and u can change it as often as u like ]
The colors might look good together. If so-I agree with dwh, some purple and green accents'll even everything out. *nods* ]
Dear New With The Old,
I wish I could help you- but I can't. When it comes to a matter like this, it has to be what you personally like. If you can, bring a small swatch of paint that is the purple color of your current house with the modern purple furniture. Ask to see the house again, and take that color swatch with you. Hold it up to the furniture and carpets inside the new traditional house that you like. If the coloring looks like it works, then you should be good to go. If not, and you dont have the money to re-do things, keep your options open for a new home...something better just might come around...
Good Luck!

Go for it. As already said, slipcovers cover all sins. You could accent it with neutral colours that even out the colour contrast. Also, you could choose the room that's bugging you the most after moving in and get it redone on adecorating show for free. The last option's not very realistic but it's worth a try. ]
I think it could be worked out. A contrast of styles can seem refreshing, and personally I think the purple and green can go together. If you like the house and location, interior, etc, go for it. Don't base your opinion of the house only on the decor. ]
I always kind of thought that purple and green looked really good together, actually. There are definitely ways to make it work. I suggest perhaps buying purple and green accents to put in the room (like purple flowers with green leaves), buy hunter green accent pillows for the furniture, etc. If worse comes to worst, make slipcovers for your purple furniture. Slipcovers cover a multitude of sins. ]
You obviously like the furniture and you obviously like the house so I think you should go for it. You could try using throws, rugs and wall hangings to negate the clashing colours. would it be possible to do a little painting of something.
What sort of purple is your furniture and is the whole house the same green all over? ]
It is your house right?
Since its where you are every day it should be comfortable for you and that could mean not necessarily being fashion forward.
If you love that house but cant part with the purple furniture then you should just combine them both and never feel the loss of having to part with one or the other. However, if the colour clashing bothers you that much you should look for a ghastly coloured purple/pink themed house or stick with the hunter green house and get some cheap/sale taupe or beige furniture which would accent the green nicely. ]
