everytime when i want pet the puppy they all goes like biting, like want to play is biting people's hand or whatever, why all puppy do that? bite everyone? (link)
Puppies bite. When it bites, say "NO". Don't hit it or anything though, obviously. It'll eventually grow out of it. :)

We have a 19-week-old female standard poodle. We are having problems housetraining her. We got her at about 14 weeks, and we thought that she was trained not to go potty in the house within two weeks. but recently she started going inside the house. It's not because she can't get outside... No! It's happened several times that we will let her out four times within an hour, and then she'll wet inside the house a few minutes later, in plain view. We had trained her to ask to go outside when she needed to go, but she only asks to go outside now when she's bored. But the thing that irks us is we know she can hold her water! We can leave her in her kennel for three hours at a time while we go somewhere, and she won't wet in there. But we come home, let her outside, and five minutes after she gets back inside, she wets! We put her in her kennel and punish her for it, we take the smell out of the carpet, but she still goes inside! What caused this and how can we stop it? (link)
Well, dogs don't go to the bathroom in their crates because that's their space, and they would have to sit in it for hours, so they hold it. To train her, whenever she goes to the bathroom in the house, gasp (dogs seem to know they did something wrong) and say "NO" firmly. Then bring her outside right away, and say "go peepee" or something like that. She will get used to that phrase and know to go to the bathroom, and she will eventually learn to go outside, not inside. Don't ever shove their noses in it.. that's just mean and it doesn't teach them anything- they will continue peeing in the house. It just takes time. But she'll learn eventually. And obviously, right after you take her out of her kennel, she needs to go outside to go pee RIGHT away because she'll have to go. Good luck!! :)

Our dog seems very healthy. She's a jack russell and very playful but over the past week she has spit up blood twice. (link)
You should take her to the vet ASAP.

I have a 9 month old German Shepard that I just got for Christmas. From what we know it has never chewed anything yet but it just tore up my couch. On top of that it has started to piddle in front of me. Not all the time just now and then. Though it does it in front of female women all the time. Any advice? (link)
First of all, don't ever hit your dog when it does something wrong. (i hope you don't) It just makes them more aggressive, and not to mention it's mean. Also don't rub her nose in her pee because that's just mean, too, and doesn't teach them anything. She is still pretty young, so chewing might happen. When she does this, gasp (dogs seem to know they did something wrong) and say "NO". She should learn to stop chewing things. And give her time to get used to her new home. Obviously she's going to be nervous, until she gets used to everyone and everything. So give her lots of love and let her know she has nothing to be afraid of.she might stop peeingshe gets more used to her new home, but maybe you would want to feed her at certain times of the day. Each time after you give her food and water, about 10 minutes later, bring her outside and every time you do, say something like "go peepee". She'll then get used to that and know to go to the bathroom when you say that. Good luck and congrats on your new puppy! :o)

my siblings and I have really gotten used to the stray kitten that is in front of our house.
my mom hates cats so she wants us to give it away
we rele dont want to give it away but we have to because once it gets rele cold it wont be able to live outside
wat is the best way to give away blinky (kitten's name)
to ensure that it is in a good home where it wont be abandoned again
by the way the kitten was abandoned in front of our house (link)
Do you have any family friends that are looking for a cat?

Or you could put it in the paper- and find a good home for him.

OR bring him to the humane society so it can be adopted and find a great home :)

okay, well my neighbor saved 13 puppies from a kill shelter in georgia all from different litters and we live in massachusetts. the puppy we were going to get is a mix. we're not sure but he looks like a pitbull and a mix of something else. we've had him over so i could play with him quite a few times and he was great. we had my moms boyfriend's 7 year old boy, and 9 or 10 year old boy over too and they played great with him. we dont own the dog yet but the insurence company called and told us that no one is permitted to have a pitbull in the state of massachusetts. and if we were to get him and he bit someone and they sued us, our house and everything would get taken away. but thats like stereotyping the dog. i know people th at have pitbulls and they've never bit someone. what am i supposed to do? this is the last puppy left and i realllyyyy want him. i don't know what to do. i dont want a different puppy. (link)
People stereotype poor pitbulls. Not all of them are mean. It depends how they are brought up. If they are raised in a good family, treated very well and loved, it'll be a nice dog. :)

15/f

so about 2 weeks ago I saw a dog walking down the street at about 2:30 in the morning. I went over to see her, and realized that she was REALLY REALLY skinny. So me my mom and dad gave her a bunch of food and water, she ate and drank it all. The next day the Animal Protective league Came to get her to give her any medication ect. she needed to get her better. They said she was 2years old and had been on the streets for a while. They also said she was an abused dog. They could tell by the way she was acting around people. But she is a VERY sweet dog. They told us she was a mix between a Coon dog and a Basset hound.

They said that we could be her ( my dad named her sara) foster family, meaning we can have her at our house to take care of her until they find a pernament home for her (i hope we adopt her), so we are her foster family now.

At first Sara went to the door when she had go to the bathroom. But yesterday she went pea on my carpet in my room,I knew it was her because I caught her doing it, then she bolted out of the room. I thought, "well maybe one of the other dogs that we have went the a long time ago and we didn't clean it up well enough". I said "NOOOO" really sternly to her a couple of times and showed her it by putting her nose close to it so she would know what she did. So, after I showed her it, I held her face up to mine and said, "NOO" sternly to her, I could see the fear in her eyes. I did NOT hit her. I thought she was potty trained .... the first 5 days went so well she was getting along with the other dogs and was starting to come out of her shell, she was playing and was always happy to see us.

So today it was raining in the morning and Sara REFUSED to get wet, so we had to wait till later to take her out. My dad did when it stopped raining but Sara still didn't go. He told me to take her out later. So I cooked some speghetti and ate. When I came down for about the 10th time between eating and cooking to check on her I smelled something, and it smelled like poop. I went in my room and there it was. I got Sara and did the same thing to her that i did when she went pea in my room. I cleaned it up and took her outside. She went pea. Then she decieded to go upsairs for the first time. Which if OK. Well I had just got done taking her out and she pead on the carpet upstairs!!!! I did the same thing agian, like I had done when she went in my room.

I did NOT tell my mom she has done all this either.

So is Sara going to hate me now, because she was abused, but I had to teach her that she can't go in the house. Otherwise my mom will send her back to the Animal Protection League. And I REALLY love her. (I'm an animal lover). Is Sara not going to be excited to see me anymore? Is she going to be afaid of me? I didn't hit her, so will she be ok? I want her to love me!?!

Please help...thank you SOOO much!!!

I have a dog who used to be abused, too.

DO NOT rub her face in it. That doesn't help either. That's just being mean to her :(

You should probably feed her at certain times each day, and then 10-15 minutes after she eats/drinks, take her outside because that's when she'll have to go to the bathroom. Also, you could say "go peepee" or something like that, so she learns what it means.

And when she ever goes to the bathroom in the house, gasp (dogs seem to know they did something wrong) and say "NO" and take her outside RIGHT away. and then say "go peepee". She'll eventually learn to do it outside.

Good luck.

Ok so we are taking care of a dog (2 years old, Coon/basset hound mix...) She was abused and was always kept outside, been on the streets for a while, and was negleted. So now she is used to Peeing/pooping when and where she wants. We can't have this and my mom said that if she doesn't improve in her potty training, by THIS WEDNESDAY,then we're sending her back to the Animal Protective League. She pees/poops in the house about 3 times per day together.

We can't smack her when she pees all we can do is yell at her...but she still does it when she wants later, even if she was just outside. So should I use a water spray bottle and spray her when she does it and tell her no? Can I flick her on the nose? You've just got to remember that she was abused. And she doesn't like being outside on a leash, by herself with water, very long.

I REALLY DO NOT want to send her back to the clinic...so I need improvement by this Wednesday.

PLEASE HELP IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS OR JUST HAVE HELPFULL ADVICE!!!!!!! THANKS SOOO MUCH!

I have a dog that used to be abused, too.

This dog obviously needs people that are willing to take time to teach her.

She needs to be potty trained, obviously.

When she goes to the bathroom in the house, gasp (dogs seem to know they've done something wrong) and say "NO" and bring her outside RIGHT away. She'll finally realize 'Oh I'm supposed to go to the bathroom OUTSIDE'.

And maybe you should feed her at certain times of the day. And 10-15 minutes after she eats/drinks, bring her outside because that's when she'll have to go to the bathroom. If you bring her out and she doesn't go, take her inside again but then in another 5-10 minutes, take her back out and she should go. and you could say "go peepee" or something like that, so she gets used to what that means.

Good luck!

what can dogs eat?

why not chocolate?

i see tv/movies where the owners just let the dog eat off their plate. isnt that bad? (link)
Dogs eat dog food that is specially made for them.

Chocolate is just very very bad for dogs- never feed them that.

Yes, it's bad to feed your dogs people food. A lot of people food will make your dog become overweight, and unhealthy.

Hi, I'm 13 and I have alot of pets. I have 2 dogs, a turtle, and 2 birds. I love all of my pets too. This morning one of my birds died. It was really sad for me. Now, I feel even worse for the other bird because it lost its only friend. I think it will die of loneliness. I am really sad and if anyone could help me out thank you very much. (link)
I'm sorry to hear about your bird. :(

But you should probably get your bird another friend. Of course it can't replace the bird you had before, but it'll give your other bird a new friend which it can be with :) Because I'm sure it will be very lonely by itself. A younger one would probably be best.

Good luck!

in a couple days, im going on a 6 hour car ride, and i have to take my dog. hes been in the car a few times, but only for short periods of time. and whenever he goes for car rides, he pants and drools all over the place. is there anything i can get at a pet store or vets to give him to help with the car sickness?

thanks! (link)
You may want to ask your vet and see if they know anything you can do about that.

Other than that, maybe you can put towels down on the seats so drool doesn't get everywhere.

And of course make sure to let him get out and go to the bathroom/walk around every once in a while.

Good luck!!

okay my kitten is 6month i got him and at a flea market. hes been having the runs latly and sleeps a little to much my mom brought home a kitten the same age 2 weeks ago and was playful and crapped normal. he doesnt really care for dry food but eat canned his water habits are normal. i just want to know whats up.
please HELP!
thank you in advance!

? (link)
You should bring him to the vet as soon as possible. They can tell you what to do.

i have had my hamster 1 day and she keeps making sneezing noises is this normal because of the smells around her or could it be something serious??? (link)
Bring it to the vet if you can.

Are you using pine or cedar litter? That's very bad for them- and can give them respiratory problems. Dust free cat litter works well. Not clay cat litter, though.

She may be allergic to something around her or her food also.

I hope you figure out what's wrong and good luck!

i have a husky that has a inffection around his eyes. His eyes are very swollen and red. can anybody help me with this because i dont know what to do.? (link)
Please bring him to the the vet ASAP!

i just got a new puppy. an american eskimo. and shes 9 months old.
we have her outside a lot. but she never uses the bathroom outside. instead she pees and poops inside. which is not good, obviously.
help? :/ i dont wanna get rid of her. (link)
First of all, DO NOT hit her. I hope you don't.

But you have to train her. When she goes to the bathroom in the house, gasp (the dogs seem to know they did something wrong) and say "NO!" and bring her outside RIGHT AWAY. She'll eventually realize 'Oh, I'm supposed to go to the bathroom outside.'

Or you could have certain feeding times every day. And maybe 10 minutes after she eats/drinks, take her outside because that is the time she'll have to go to the bathroom. Also say something like "go peepee" so she'll learn what that means.

Good luck!!

I've seen this cat around my yard. I can garentee that it's not owned because I live in a small neighborhood, and everyone in it has atleast 2 dogs. The cat lives in a trash pile basicly that me and my family has colected over the year, and it's gotten bigger. Well I want to save this cat before winter comes, it will freze to death! My dogs, one I got was from a family that was broken up and the little dog had no where to go and my family took her in and we now call her Keylii. The other one is a lot bigger then Keylii who is a Tea-cup Pamerian, and his names Bear. Well they've bothc ome from familys that has had cats in the house so my dogs will get along with the cat, but how am I going to get it to come to me? I wana feed it, it's been getting into out garbadge and that can't be filling, But ive never had a cat before. I was thinking about louring it out by like canned tuna, I also have babyfood.. if cats eat that and dog food for little dogs if cats eat that too. But i need to think of the good of the animal. I dont wanna call Animal Services so don't give me that option because what if they put it down??? Then there'd be no point in saving it.. but what if it has a deseice and it bites me? I know im up-dated in my shots so Im not worried about that but if it bites me, and my Mom finds out she wont let if around the baby. I wanna save this cat. I know its homeless and letting it live where it is isnt an option. Neither is calling animal services. Im willing to take the chance of being biten out scratched, I just need some help on how to get the cat out of the pile of nothing.. please anyting is helpful and im sorry for giving u resrtictions but im not going to happy knowing its out there, or that its in the hands of other people who might hurt it.
Anything will be helpful tho. (link)
Okay, well, first of all, I'm glad you want to help it :) I would too.

It most likely isn't going to come to you because it'll be scared.

I'm sorry to say it, but you SHOULD call the animal services. They aren't going to hurt it. Have you ever seen Animal Cops? They're nice people who love animals. They will catch it, bring it to the vet, and then it'll go to a humane society and get a great home! (I got one of my dogs from a humane society)

And maybe you can just call the animal services to catch the cat and make sure it's healthy, and then ask if you can have it after they say it's healthy enough. You can then spend time with it and get it used to you, and then give it a good home. The only reason they would put it down is if it was extremely sick (which it probably isn't) to put it out of its pain. Or if it was extremely mean and they don't think it could be adoped (and it doesn't sound like it is)

You can keep trying to get it to come to you, but if you're not making any progress, please call the Animal Services, because it seems like you're the only person who wants to help it, and if it won't come to you, it'll most likely freeze to death. So you can keep trying to catch it, and if it just isn't going to come to you, PLEASE call the Animal Services so it doesn't die!!

Good luck!!

I got a pup when I was in about 4th grade. I'm in my junior year now. He's 9 years old. I find this strange that when I look at other dogs and meet them.. they are just animals.. pets.. dogs to me.. But when I'm with my dog, he's not just someone [hah, an animal] you go "aww cute" and pet.. Isn't that strange? I treat my dog almost like a person and he gets the affection he deserves.. but other dogs.. I don't know how to explain this.. But why am I thinking like this? Is it just because I grew up with him and he became so familiar? He does not act like a normal dog you can say. He's not hyper and he's not confusing to me or unpredictable. I can tell when he's sad, sick or in pain. I feel out of place. I met my cousins new puppy and he was wagging his tail.. being hyper.. To me, that dog was just a pet you take care of. But my dog, he's a part of the family and sometimes i feel like i can understand him just by looking at his eyes... It makes me feel weird, is this wrong? (link)
Well he's part of your family!! :) And you grew up with him, so that's why you feel like you know him so well. :)

how long can parakeets go without food? (link)
It should have food at ALL times.

I'm getting a dog. But my brother is allergic and my house is small. Does a Yorkie shed alot, does it need alot of running? I'd be able to make sure it gets excerise, and alot if it needs it. help? (link)
Well I don't know a lot about yorkies, but you could always get a miniature schnauzer! They don't shed AT ALL- because they have hair. Not fur. I have one and I love him! Just putting it out there- but hope you have fun with your new dog! & Good luck!! :)

what do i do if my dogs coughing up blood? (link)
Please bring it to the vet ASAP.
