Question Posted Thursday September 20 2007, 9:19 am
I'm getting a dog. But my brother is allergic and my house is small. Does a Yorkie shed alot, does it need alot of running? I'd be able to make sure it gets excerise, and alot if it needs it. help?

Yorkies dont usually need a lot of exersize and dont really shed a lot. But you should walk them and depending on how long their fur is, you should brush them too. Walking and brushing any dog usually makes it happy- and a happy dog is a good dog :D :D
Hope I helped!
Good Luck!!! :D

They don't have an undercoat so shed less than a lot of dogs. There are some breeds of dog that little or no hair. I've included a website with pictures for you to look at. I've also included a website of light shedders with pictures and information about each breed. Good luck with your dog.

They will be able to rattle off a list of breeds and offer ideas that keep fido and your brother happy. [ solidadvice4teens's advice column | Ask solidadvice4teens A Question ]

They don't shed so that should cut down on trouble for him, they come in ALL sizes, and they're very intelligent.
Most dogs shed a reasonable amount if they have long hair or medium hair. Dogs that originally came from a colder area tend to build up more fur for the winter naturally, and thus shed more, too. A quick search on any breed you have in mind could help you figure that out :)
