Question Posted Monday August 27 2007, 10:51 am

in a couple days, im going on a 6 hour car ride, and i have to take my dog. hes been in the car a few times, but only for short periods of time. and whenever he goes for car rides, he pants and drools all over the place. is there anything i can get at a pet store or vets to give him to help with the car sickness?

You may want to ask your vet and see if they know anything you can do about that.

Other than that, maybe you can put towels down on the seats so drool doesn't get everywhere.

And of course make sure to let him get out and go to the bathroom/walk around every once in a while.

Good luck!!

You should call your veterinarian and ask him/her what you could give. There are a couple of different choices, one being Dimenhydrinate, or dramamine, which is the same thing that people take for motion sickness. Whatever you do, don't get anything at a drug store because it won't be the correct dosage, and it's best not to get anything they might have at a pet store. It's safest to just go to your veterinarian.
