Are you using pine or cedar litter? That's very bad for them- and can give them respiratory problems. Dust free cat litter works well. Not clay cat litter, though.
She may be allergic to something around her or her food also.

I had a rat with a respiratory problem, and he lived for five years, so don't worry too much about her, but you should still have her checked out. I would say either bring her to a vet and get her checked out (and ask them about the kind of bedding to use) or else find someone else that knows a lot about hamster care. I wouldn't suggest going to the petstore that you bought her because they probably don't know, if they did, then you wouldn't have gotten a sick hamster from them. Elcee answered Thursday August 30 2007, 1:51 pm: It is possible hat your hamster may be allergic to the bedding in her cage. Change the bedding and see if that makes a difference. Otherwise take the hamster to a vet, or as the previous answer said, take her back to where you bought her to get them to check her. All the best. [ Elcee's advice column | Ask Elcee A Question ]
LaceyIsPrettyBomb answered Wednesday August 29 2007, 8:31 pm: Hamsters, just like people can get colds. If it is cold in your house, he could have gotten a cold from it because usually pet stores keep them pretty warm. If your house isnt cold, i would suggest taking it back to where ever you bought it from, because it could have been sick when they sold it to you, and they should either give you a new one or treat it until its better, because it shouldnt be making noises like that.
