do you think birds ever get bored in their cage with the same old toys and other birds? (link)
|
No. But they do get tired of the toys being in the same place so mix it up once every 1-2 weeks and that will keep them happy (I have a parrot)

We thought our female dog was spayed. She is 10 years old, we've had her 2 years. We caught her and a male dog, he was stuck inside her, doing the deed. Male dog now won't go away. Is it possible she's in heat even though we've never noticed this in 2 years? If so is it dangerous at her age to possibly be pregnant? (link)
|
If she's spayed there is no way she can get pregnant it's possible it was a young male they are well lets just say mine tried to breed a wheelbarrow.

I just got a persian cat(cleopatra is her name:) )
She's preganat and due in 3 weeks time.I just want to know
How do i prepare a place for her to deliver the kittens? how do i let her know the place?
I noticed she's really playful. what kind of games could i play with her?
How do i train her to get close to me?
(link)
|
Make a boxed in area that she can get iin out but the kittens won't. For the three weeks put her food and water in the area and her litter box about three feet away from the area. Make sure you have some milk replacer in case she has nursing issues and a small bottle. A puppy scale is also good for keeping track of the kittens growth. As for your cats playfulness be careful to much action could make her have the kittens early so try to keep her calm. When your watching tv or something Let her sit on your lap and pet her or scratch her ears.

I was wondering, can dogs feel your emotions? I know it's probably a stupid question but the other day, I yelled at my puppy for pooping in the house & gave him a little spanky. He ran off but couple minutes later, I got bad news about my friend and I started crying and even though he knew I was mad at him, he came by me and started licking me and snuggling by me. So, can dogs feel your emotions? (link)
|
Yes, they can they pick up emotions of the ones they love. When they do something bad and they know it they are ashamed but when your sad they will always be there for you. It is because they have strong connections with you that they have learned to recognize how you feel.

My dogs are small and I'm worried about the cold weather. Are they okay out there? I mean I went outside around 3am and it was freezing! I already have dog houses with their own heating pads, should that be enough? They aren't allowed inside at night. (link)
|
No, not at all they have to come inside unless you ccan find a way to keep them locked in their dog houses all night with no cold getting in.

My dog went to the vet a few days ago and my dad came back saying that my dog (golden retriever) is too fat. we're giving her less food... but the thing is that i'm scared. What if she is really really hungry? I don't want her to starve. Another thing is, its winter and I don't know what to do for her to lose some weight. I know running is a good way for dogs to lose weight, and swimming.. but its super cold! I usually play tug-of-war in the house with her, and like chase her around trying to get her, which by the way is really fun, but my mom complains that she sheds too much hair and how my mom always has to clean after her. HELP (link)
|
I read an article about an extremely obese dog who lost alot of wait on Science Diet. She may act like she is starving but she is being dramatic to get you to feed her more. As long as you are giving her the proper amount of food for her size (look it up). Don't worry about starvation.
FOR THE SHEDDING:
1. Brush the dog thoroughly
2. Wash the dog and get down to the roots
3. Do not towel dry, use a blowdryer (It will be messy do it a smsll enclosed room)
4. Brush the dog again
Tihs will get most of your dog's hair out the room you you blow dry her in will be messy but it is better than random clumps throughout the house.

I have had a cat, Pumpkin for about 4 years. I am the only person he likes, and he still rarely lets me hold him. We had already had a Shih-tzu that the cat liked, even though the dog just ignored the cat. Last year, my shih-tzu died. We got an Irish Setter puppy, Shea over the summer and Pumpkin was very scared (Shea didnt even chase him. And Pumpkin running away now causes Shea to chase him). The problem is, its been about 5 months and Pumpkin is still very scared of Shea. Pumpkin stays in the basement or upstairs or outside untill he knows Shea is in his crate or outside. Whenever I try to get them to meet, Pumpkin scratches me and runs in the basement. I need Pumpkin to stop being so scared and stop running away so Shea won't chase him. What should I do? (link)
|
Put Shea in a metal barred crate about a foot away from another crate to put Pumpkin in. Then Pumpkin can't run so Shea will not chase her. Put in a room that you can close off from the rest of the house so they both get some free time. Good Luck!

Hi, my dogs canine teeth are rotting, what are some things i should or should not do to help him with pain and to help it from getting worse until we go to the vet. Sometimes when he is eating or chewing a bone he yelps, I feel bad for him and i cant brush his teeth because I will hurt him. My sister usually takes care of him because he is her dog but i love him equally. Is there anything I can give him to help, any sort of home remedies? (link)
|
As a future veteranarian I know alot about dogs. I believe be needs to have then pulled if they're rotting. So take him to the vet unlike the other person said asap is not necessary but make an appointment. In trhe mean time soften his food by mixeing it half and half with canned dog food (if you feed him kibble like food) and keep him away from bones.

is the regular birdseed sold at stores bad for birds? i was told they make birds fat
(budgies) (link)
|
All birds need fruits and veggies everyday. It really depends on what store you are getting it from. However I've heard that sunflower seeds are bad for all birds because they are addictive to birds and some will ignore their other food. I would say the best is to by a name brand mix made specifically for small birds.

2 weeks ago i picked up a box of 7 kittens and a mama cat that were on the side of the road. 4 of them looked to be about 5 weeks old and the other 3 looked like they were from an earlier litter of kittens theyre about 3 months. they were fine just a little scared and malnourished and they're coming along great now.
im worried about the mama kitty. she is nursing the younger kittens and i think she was pregnant when i brought them home but im not sure. maybe shes just getting fatter now that shes being fed?
how do you tell is shes pregnant and what do i feed her and how do i take care of her if she is?
shes a tiny cat but its her stomach thats getting bigger it seems to me.
any help would be great
thankyou! (link)
|
First if the kittens are 5 weeks old she's not pregnant because that is impossible. she might have worms or something like that. you need to take her and the kittens to the vet for vaccinations and wormer. The vet will know more about this than I do but its probably worms and don't worry if they are really 5 weeks she isn't pregnant.
|
somebody dropped off 7 kittens and the mama cat on my front porch and they were never touched by people until now and theyre kindof wild. what can i do to make them trust me and people in general? theyre soo cute! (link)
|
It sounds like they are feral cats and may never like people. Call your vet to see if they can catch them and make sure they are up to date on vaccinations. I don't think it is a good idea to try and make them live with people. I tried that once and while they can grow to trust people they always have their wild instincts. Knocking things over, breaking stuff. If you really love the cats and want to keep one. You should probably let them live outside. If you are feeding them and caring for them the most likely won't run off.

IF YOU HAVE 2 BROTHERS TOGETHER IF YOU SEPERATE THEM WHEN THEY ARE STILL KITTEN AGE (LIKE 7 MON) WILL THEY BECOME DEPRESSED? i'VE HEARD THEY DO BUT I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD AS LONG AS IT IS STILL THE SAME PEOPLE HAVING THEM BOTH. (link)
|
They might but the longer you leave them together the more attached they get. I don't know if it's the same with cats but we had 2 dogs together since birth and when one died the other was never quite the same so earlier seperation is better.

I just got a guinea pig from petsmart today. They said I could hold it and pet it. But when she got home I tried to pick her up but she had her claws out and was scratching me. I put her back down. When I try to pick her up will she claw me, then get calm? Because I want to hold her. Please give me some advice! If she stays mean I'll just leave her in her cage and leave her be, but it will be sad to know that I wasted $113.oo on her, the food and the cage!! (link)
|
Calm down she'll be fine once she has adjusted. Mine was the same way and here is what I did. Pick up some gardening gloves that are thick, she won't be able to scratch you that way. Once she has warmed up to you the gloves won't be necessary anymore.

how old do you have to be to work at a horse stable usually. i know it probably differs depending on the stable. (link)
|
You are right. Most stables have their own personal age preferences. But, most stables I know have an age minimum between 16 and 18 years old. You also have to be hard working and strong to work at a horse barn. You have to be able to move feed bags, lift hay bales; and, though we may not want to, shovel manure.

My aunt was planning to get a dog and I was helping her find one online. But my uncle doesn't like dogs or any kind of animals (and they already had cats). And my aunt really wants a dog.Which she hope she gets. But I need a list of convincing ways to get my uncle to say yes to get the dog. I already told her to tell him,"This is my dog and I got it for myself."
Anyone wants to help my aunt get a dog! :) (link)
|
There are many quiet, low matinence dogs that your uncle could deal with. Tell your aunt to talk to your uncle and discuss what kind of dog she wants. I think they should both meet halfway with a sweet overall quiet dog. Although if she wants a louder breed she can always de-bark it. Good Luck to your aunt!

About three months ago my boyfriend found this very sick kitten who has only one eye and is going blind in the other. we fed and gave him water. gave him a bath and took him to the vet. the veterian wanted to put the poor kitten to sleep but i wouldn't let him. so he gave us medication.. he gave us eye drops to stop the infection in his eyes and aintiboics for him which he fishined it. his eye drops are allmost gone. three months later which is now he's sick again. he's eating but not drinking water so i took a turkey baster and gave him water. i haven't seen him go to the bathroom. so i dont know if he's got worms. he has a runing nose and when you pick him up he has a tantrum and makes a loud meowing noise. please help me.. i have no money for the vet? (link)
|
Do you know any friends who may be able to pay for the vet bill? I'm sorry to say but it may be best to put him down if that is what the vet has suggested. If you don't want to however it's very important that he sees a vet. From my experiences sometimes when an animal goes blind they can't live a good life and are miserable. I'd give him a year of hard work trying to make him better but if he is unhappy and ill I would follow the vets suggestion and put him down.

Are rawhide bones and stuff good for dogs? (link)

Pigs feet and knuckle bones are best you can find them at pet supplies plus. They clean teeth.

im getting a conure, and i cant decide between sun, blue, or green cheeked. is there any difference with their dispossitions? if so, which is better?and what is the average price of the different species?
also, what size cage would be best?
thanks!=] (link)
|
I have had all three and my favorite are sun conures they are really sweet and kind. As for the cage enough room for him/her to move around and have fun. Also when owning a bird they need daily attention. They probably won't go over $1k in price.

Around how old will a female cat be when it first goes into heat? (link)
|
Usually around 14 months but if you are thinking about breeding you should wait until she is after 2 years.
|
My dog ran away tonight he's just four months old. My family and I have looked high and low for him. I need to know if dogs can remember where they live he's only been to our new house for a day now... (just moved in)
1) any ideas on what i should do?
2) where can i get a dog whistle? (link)
|
Oh that's awful. Put up signs. If your dog is really nice someone might try to keep it. So on the sign put that it needs medicine. When you get it back make sure you give him a microchip if he/she doesn't have one already. Also chack all the local animal shelters.
