Additional info, added Wednesday August 8 2007, 10:56 pm: store bought generic bird seed? like made for budgies specifically but still. Want to answer more questions in the Domesticity category? Maybe give some free advice about: Pets? NightLight answered Friday August 10 2007, 11:22 am: All birds need fruits and veggies everyday. It really depends on what store you are getting it from. However I've heard that sunflower seeds are bad for all birds because they are addictive to birds and some will ignore their other food. I would say the best is to by a name brand mix made specifically for small birds. [ NightLight's advice column | Ask NightLight A Question ]
MAK answered Wednesday August 8 2007, 7:51 pm: Well, Budgies are exotics, and the kind of seed that the store sells is for backyard birds, such as finches, jays, etc. I would go to a pet store and look for seed made especially for Budgies and Parakeets.
Also, remember to give your Budgie(s) a little bit of fruit, veggies (like carrots) and greens everyday. [ MAK's advice column | Ask MAK A Question ]
karenR answered Wednesday August 8 2007, 7:24 pm: I have been known to feed my bird store bought
bulk food. The only difference between it and the type made specifically for your type of bird is
vitamins are added to budgie food.
Sunflower seeds can make them fat. Don't feed your bird only sunflower seeds. Mix them with other seed.
But they will eat it and be fine. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
