You are right. Most stables have their own personal age preferences. But, most stables I know have an age minimum between 16 and 18 years old. You also have to be hard working and strong to work at a horse barn. You have to be able to move feed bags, lift hay bales; and, though we may not want to, shovel manure. ]
It depends on what you're looking to do at the stable.
I know I started doing barn chores such as mucking stalls, feeding, and grooming when I was 10.
I started teaching lessons and training when I was 17.
I think experience plays a huge factor when it comes to being hired to work at a stable. If you can prove to them that you know what you're doing, there are stables out there that would probably be willing to give you a chance. Some stables are willing to take people with no experience, but be prepared to be doing the mucking out and cleaning types of chores. ]
Yes it does differ depending on the stables, but usually during the year it's 18 or older. But lots of stables hirer 15 and up for the summer, and sometimes stables have some jobs that you can do. So if you want to work at a horse stable, put your name out there, so they know your avalible. It's going to be hott, and a lot of work. But you would get to be around horses, and learn about barn matience. Also when horse stables, if you start out working at a young age, it's easy to get promoted when your older! :) Good luck!
