My husband and I are adopting a cat today from the Humane Society. The cat is 4 years old, and has not been declawed. I feel it would be inhumane to do declaw her, but I am worried about her scratching my furniture, and me as well. Does anyone have any alternitives to declawing, or how to prevent her from scratching the furniture.
And any other tips for a new cat owner would be appriciated. (link)

Don't let her get on the furniture when you first get her. your going to have to just tell her no. But giving her own cat bed of some sort my help.

I live in an apartment with my mom. We want to get a cat and the landlady said we can if it doesn't have any claws. We aren't sure if thats ok to do to a cat. I no one other person who has a cat like this and the cat seems happy. What do you think? (link)
|
Declawing a cat is ok to the cats health but it is giving it no defense if it ever got out. It wouldn't be able to climb a tree or scratch a dog. It would have no protection so if you get a cat and you have it declawed I would be very careful not to let it out at ALL.

i have a mini dachshund he is 2 yrs old,he was born with what appeared to be a scratch on his eyeball,as he grew so did the scratch,it now take up half his eye and it has a foggy color to it,and what we believed that was a scratch looks as if it was actually hair, there are a few pieces of hair growing ,it is embedded inti his eye.is this possible? (link)

I would ask the doctor about that. That doesn't sound right. Try to use doggy eye-drops.

My labrador puppy, Chewbacca or Chewie for short, is turning five. His mom is my sister's dog, Vanilla Wafer or Niller, and she has an eye problem. She's gone blind and has such problems that she may have to have her eyes removed. I'm terrifed that Chewie is going to develope the same eye problems. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening? (link)

Try doggy eye dropps.(Ask Doctor)
Try giving him vitams of some sort.
Healthy diet. (including treats)

We are adopting a new cat(male) and brining him home tonight. Please, anyone with experiance - What is the best way to introduce him to our other cat(female)? (link)

I sat in between mine.with the two carriers facing each other. Then after they had ther hissy fits I let them in a huge room together.I brought my house cat to sit next to me and finaly the other one got jealous and got up there next to me on the couch. Now they are best buds. (Just be careful. Don't get in the way of those claws. Oh yea WATCH THEM. keep the carriers far enough apart to where they cant stick there paw out and swipe.

Are boxers a good dog to have as a family pet? I want one, but I have 2 little ones at home (2years & 6 Mo.) would a boxer be a wise decision? (link)
|
Thats a good question. If it was me I wouldnt get dog known for fighting. Maybe a family dog like a golden retriever, lab, colley ect.. See if you got a boxer you wouldn't want something to happen to your kids or youy 2 yr old pulling on its tail. I dont think it matters how much you trust it. Just one bite is all it would take.Hope it helps.

Okay, for the past..6 years my sister and I have been trying to get a dog. But all my mom says is no. I don't think my dad would mind just as long as it didnt shed. She Court [[my sister]] and I have found numerous types of dogs that are SO cute AND don't shed. All my mom says is I'll consider it. It's on all of our Christmas/Birthday lists but nothing happens. We want a dog sooo bad. Please help! And by the way, I've tried to say I'll take care of it..that didnt work either =( I RATE HIGH (link)

Well if your mother is worried about a dog shedding than your problem is solved because some groomes including mine have this thing calle the deshedded special which is 20 $ to 70$ depending on the dogs size and hair. It lasts for about 3months and I use it on my dog. They also groom and trim and of coarse bath you dog.
I am sure there is one in your area that can do that. Well good luck, hope I was a help. AskBritt

Ok, my brother has a snake. She is a 1 year old ball python. Shes about 14 inches long. My question is, when shes in her cave, she likes to pick it up, and then crawl under it. Is this a normal thing? Shes not shedding, so that can't be why shes doing it. Sometimes she gets stuck, and goes to sleep while its laying on her. Is she going to be ok? (link)
|
This is not unusual. Snakes like to be in the dark and be warm. If she is not shedding you might want to take her to a vet. Sorry ,I can't be more of a help.AskBritt

One of my cats has started peeing in my room. Anytime time else he uses the litter box. He only does it in my room. Does anyone have any idea as to why he started to do this or how I can get him to stop? I have 2 other cats and he is our newest one, but we have had him since March. He just started this. Thanks for your help! (link)
|
I know how you feel because I have 4 cats and one of them does this. BUT I know how it starts and how to stop it. First, this usally happens in older cats but he is being teritorial. If you have carpet use a damp cold colorless cloth and get it all up. Make sure you get it up. Use cleaning products if you have to. You have to get the scent gone. And try socalicing your cat around the others. Try talking to both of them. And I would keep your door closed when your gone and ONLY leave it open when your there and WATCHING. AskBritt

my cat is getting really sick i took my cat to the vet and everything what should i do to stop her from suffering please help...
i will rate high just somebody help... (link)

I don't know the detail of your cats condition. If you are this serious about your cats health and there is nothing that you can do to help it get better. I would put the cat down. Now that seems harsh. Its hard but atleast you know you are putting it out of its pain. If that is just something you won't do then maybe try talking with the vet on some anibiotics of some sort. Sorry,AskBritt

My puppies (two small breed, one male one female) are so newspaper-trained that they won't go outside! Every time we come in from a walk they go straight to the newspaper and do their business. What should I do? (link)
|
Try putting them outside while you are gone. Don't leave the newspaper in the house anymore. Try putting it outside. When you have them going outside take the newspaper away.

i have had a sugar glider for three weeks now and she still won't let me hold her. i've tried holding a walnut on my hand but she just steals the walnut and runs off. i tried to hold her while she was occupied with her nut but she kinda attacked me. i don't want her to be unsocialized because i don't think i'll get the full enjoyment out of her. Please help me. She's the cutest thing and when you look into her big buggy eyes you just want to hug her. oh yeah, she's a little under a year old if that helps

Sugar gliders are like that. You have to basicly earn her trust.Firts just start little by putting you hand in the cage and feeding, watering, and beding her like you would normaly do. (But pay no attention to her) You sort of have to act like she isnt there so that she gets that your not there to hurt her. If that doesn't earn her trust in 2-3 weeks. Then try putting her in a quiet room but were you family can pass by and talk to her that you visit regularly so that she gets used to the new suroundings and you of coarse. If that still doesnt work . Let her out regularly so that she get used to and the house in stead of being cooped up in a cage and then trying to be handled by a huge thing. I hope I was a help.

my sun conure *bird* squacks so much! its so loud and we cant stop him... any ideas to get him to quiet down? i dont want a website i want real advice (link)
|
He might be lonely. I would give him mor attention or mabe a friend and bigger cage. My friend put hers in a outside cage that was huge that you could walk in and it was happy. It didn't make as much noise then. So I would try a bigger cage. THen maybe if he keeps on find a friend.

They usally make that noise when they are happy. How do I know and this is from my own experiance. The gender is a little harder. The males hve pretty big "Buts" and have a little skin showing on there stomach. I didn't have girls sorry.
