A Little Help

Question Posted Friday September 17 2004, 1:44 pm

Ok, my brother has a snake. She is a 1 year old ball python. Shes about 14 inches long. My question is, when shes in her cave, she likes to pick it up, and then crawl under it. Is this a normal thing? Shes not shedding, so that can't be why shes doing it. Sometimes she gets stuck, and goes to sleep while its laying on her. Is she going to be ok?

This is not unusual. Snakes like to be in the dark and be warm. If she is not shedding you might want to take her to a vet. Sorry ,I can't be more of a help.AskBritt

Ok, as soon as this snake goes under this rock, dont flip out and immediatly call nine one one!!
You seriously need to chill. Snakes are reptiles, cold blooded little freaks. they do what they please. Going under rocks and then sleeping when the rock is sitting on top of her is perfectly normal. usually baby snakes don't shed right away. So just leave her to her business, and STOP WORRING!

Happy i helped!

She will probably be okay. If an animal tilts simething down and hides under it, most likely it is because they want some peace and quiet. The reason she is asleep is probably because she is tired. If she is a python, I doubt she can't get a cave of her. SHe probably just wants privacy and likes small spaces.

Well, I went to this site:

And it seems what your snake is doing is normal. The snake is just trying to hide and maybe she just prefers to have the cave on top of her rather than be in it.

As long as it isn't physically harming her, then there shouldn't be a problem with it.

If you are still concerned about it, you might want to consider contacting a vet and seeing what they have to input on it.

She'll be fine. Your animal wouldn't do something to itself, if she knew it would hurt. She's probably just trying to get away from all the attention.
