Q: I'm a lesbian, and as a big prank for my first college bout I cut my hair to look like a boy and I plan on going to campus monday as a male. I searched the web to find some good sites on advice to look more like a man but came up with nothing but stuff for men to look like women.
Can you guys offer any tips? Like what to do about these things on my chest? Or how to walk, sound, and dress like a man?

Wikihow says:
Work on the physical aspects that label you a girl (i.e. breasts, long hair, etc.).
Hair: Although it's a well-known fact that some guys have very long hair, it has a different texture ("contour") then that of women. This is solved very simply by cutting off long hair. At shorter lengths, is difficult to notice any difference in contour. If you're unable or unwilling to cut your hair, then wear a wool hat or baseball cap to conceal those unsightly locks.
Bosom: Seeing as how you can't just cut off your breasts (unless you wish to have permanent surgery by spending interestingly high amounts of money), you will have to bind them. Something like a tightly wrapped towel, a modified corset, or an Ace bandage will work fine; just make sure any binding you use is secure.
Find clothes that guys would normally wear. You can even go to Goodwill to find these. Use some baggier clothing to conceal those womanly curves; avoid any clothing that fits tightly around the hips, chest, and legs.
Be careful about your vocal pitch. While there are guys who have higher ranges, you're not going to want your voice to rise too high; keep your tone monitored without overdoing it and sounding ridiculous.
Don't try and use makeup for any reason. Chances are it's going to accentuate curves again, and guys don't have any (that would be accentuated by makeup, anyway).
Hide your armpits, legs and stomach unless you have hair in those areas. While hair may be grown there, chances are it's going to far softer and finer than a guy's hair would be anyway.
Make sure your fingernails are trimmed short.
Muscles can also help sell the illusion; soft lined arms and stomachs are acceptable, but not preferable.
When standing, try to shift your weight so that it is evenly distributed over your feet, and push your shoulders slightly back and down. Observe how other men stand and copy their stance, tweaking it slightly so that it fits your physique.
Use hair products and colognes designed for men. You don't want to smell too obviously like a girl if you can help it.
Women normally walk with a sway in their hips. Because of this, someone watching can instinctively (though usually not consciously) label you the girl you are if they see you walking from behind. Try and copy the straight walk of guys. Walking directly behind and in the footsteps of one may help you practice. This may be uncomfortable at first, but eases with experience.
When sitting down, never cross your legs! Or if you do, place the ankle of one leg on the opposite knee.
Have a nice day.

Q: I'm not really into fashion but whenever I see myself, it's bad! I wear a D cup and whatever I wear.. makes me look pregnant [which strangers commented on] or that I gained 10 pounds. It also makes my shoulders look wider. What can I do to make my boobs look smaller? And what I mean by that is.. what type of outfits can I wear that will flatter my chest? I'm only 16, btw. Around 100 pounds and I'm 5'1. I don't layer my clothing. I usually wear babydoll shirts.

Babydoll shirts? Well, there is your problem! Babydolls come out below the chest, and can make the illusion of a rounder tummy, or a pregnant look. The person below me is correct. You need a great, full liftage bra. If you don't have the right undergarments, you can't look great. I suggest getting professionally measured and fitted for the right bra for a great start.
I would never suggest a T-shirt. T-shirts make your chest stick out and look twice as big. I would go with a slight V-neck shirt (deep V-necks can look aging and well... slutty). Don't wear horizontal lines. I know rugbys are really in right now, but they just make your chest look huge. Also try open-collar shirts and wraps.
Example: http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?catId=cat90088&productId=1342_6579 (This stripe is okay since the stripe is not directly over the bust.)
http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?catId=cat90098&productId=1435_7092 (Always opt for a dark wash.)
http://www.ae.com/web/browse/product.jsp?catId=cat90114&productId=4411_7065
This is just an example; I'm sure you can figure it out from here. I'm not necessarily recommending American Eagle, I just went there first and was too lazy to go to another site.
: )
Have a nice day.

Q: This is just a random question but how do amateur bloggers (when I say amateur I mean people who don't get payed to blog, people who go to school or have a job and just blog on the side..) stay ahead of the curve when it comes to fashion news?
I mean if you're being payed to blog about this stuff, you have contacts and people you can rely on to keep you informed and maybe spill some inside information but what about bloggers that just do it as a hobby? Where do they get their information from before anyone else?

Not before anyone else. Believe me, I can be ahead of everybody in fashion if I decided to be trendy. I used to be, and you know how? I read and scruntized Teen Vogue and all those fashion magazines. I could easily predict what was going to be hot. You know how else? Hot or not lists for the new year. The Washington Post lists a new one every year, and I love to read it and watch the trends appear. It's easy. You watch for a little bit, and then make current trends a little different to make them even trendier. Requires dedication and careful attention, but not too hard once you get the hang of it.

All modeling "schools" are complete scams. The best you should do is to send in photos into modeling agencies, and if they see that you could be a profitable model, they will invest money and time into you. Schools like Barbizon and John Robert Powers are fakes that rip you off. All they're going to do is take photos of you and steal thousands of dollars from you. There are legit talent schools for acting and making Broadway stars, but modeling schools don't teach you anything. Real modeling agencies will not take your money. I suggest sending snapshots of yourself and getting an agent at the Ford Agency.

Q: My hair is pretty thin, really straight, and comes down about and inch below my shoulders. I'm so sick of how it's pin straight, and i can't curl to save my life. I've been thinking about getting a perm, just a loose-curl, wavy type perm, not like ringlets or anything. Should I wait till it's longer to get it permed? And do you think this would suit me, or work? Becuase i had a friend that told me not. Any advice would help..thanks!

DO NOT perm your hair. It will not make your hair any thicker. It will make it curlier temporarily, but please don't do it. I think that this guides is not only helpful, but will suit you entirely:

http://www.buzzle.com/editorials/12-9-2005-83576.asp - This won't make your hair thicker in reality, but trust me, it will make it LOOK thicker.

You probably do have a nice looking body. My only advice on that is to watch your weight and possibly could use to lose a few pounds, only because your BMI of 25.4 (5"4, 148 lbs.) puts you in the overweight category these are the BMI categories:
Underweight- less than 18.5
Normal weight- 18.5-24.9
Overweight- 25-29.9
Obese- 30 or greater
There is nothing wrong with being curvy (but always respect those who aren't blessed with hourglass figures, whether A-line or pumpkin) but always be healthy.
Style tips:
1. A full miniskirt like this one: http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=skirts&product%5Fid=2042764542&Page=1
2. Colored jeans that accentuate curves like this pair: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&navAction=jump&id=13635537&search=true&color=46
3. A belted dress that makes your waist look uber tiny: 1&navActhttp://www.torrid.com/torrid/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302024200&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442165256&bmUID=1198863933712ion=jump&id=13917034&search=true&color=04
4. A cropped jacket that hits you at the waist: http://www.metroparkusa.com/fashion/women/item/2011/Heirloom-Slub-Fleece-Jacket
EDIT: I'm sorry that I did not take into account that you probably do have a lot of muscle. I simply calculated your BMI which shows that you're a tad overweight. Now, I'm no doctor, but I was only warning you those categories of BMI apply to EVERYONE. And to the person who answered after me, I don't especially care that the questioner was not asking for her BMI; I was just TRYING to give a helpful warning.

That L.L. Bean one. It is so timeless and though it's $100, it will last you forever. Forget about going with almost everything you wear, it will go with everything and anything.

Either or? Well, the second one is SO pretty. I actually saw something SIMILAR to it on the Gap website: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=13658&pid=498455
I know it's not the exact same one, but it is just darling and extremely similar. You can even check out Gap's other ones: http://www.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=5733
I would go with the one in the first link. It is so pretty. I might just get one for myself. : )
As for the first dress you had in your question, I don't know, but I think it doesn't look as nice as the second one.

1. NAUTICA: Nautical themes and stripes. Don't go overboard! Subtlely add hints of nautical theme.
2. BRIGHT, BOLD COLORS: Go for big bold colors like bright yellow or cherry red. Just balance it so it doesn't look too blinding.
3. "FLAPPER" LOOK: Go for straight lines that de-emphasize your body's shape.
4. EXOTIC SKIN BAGS: Animal prints on big bags. Clutches will be a thing of the past.
5. HIGH-WAISTED PANTS: Go the high-waisted '40's chic look, not the mom-jean look.
6. MILITARY JACKETS: Head for that military look with cargo pockets and ties.
7. COLORFUL TIGHTS: Are they ever not a trend?
That's basically what trend alerts all say. As for me, I have stuck and will stick to my Polo brand sweaters, khakis and Top-siders. LOL.

I was in Borders and I browsed through it for a bit, and thought it was empty and shallow. HOWEVER, some others seem to think differently: http://www.amazon.com/Poseur-1-Rachel-Maude/dp/0316065838/ref=tag_tdp_sv_edpp_i
(Go down to the customer reviews of the book.)
I don't really read trash novels, but I do enjoy watching "Gossip Girl" on the CW. If you do like those kind of books, I think you should buy it. It's not too expensive and I think you read the first chapter or so in the bookstore, see if you like it, then buy it if you like it. That's normally what I do.
Happy Holidays.

1. Shampoo and condition your hair normally.
2. Now towel-dry it. Do not rub it, but squeeze out the excess water and pat until it's damp. (But not dripping wet.)
3. Apply a mousse (or spray hairspray) to the roots of your hair.
4. Grab a chunk of hair, squeeze it (a smaller chunks = tight curls, loose chunks = loose curls)and crinkle it by pushing it up toward the top of your head. Do this until you're done with all of your hair.
5. Keep grabbing, squeezing and pushing until the hair is air-dried. (Or you can use a blow dryer.)
-Don't EVER EVER EVER brush your hair after. You'll looked like you got electrified.
-If your hair is fine or straight, use a curl defining product along with the mousse.
If you need to know how to do anything, always check eHow.com, which is a site that's good when you don't want to waste someone's time.
Hope I helped! : )

Q: hi, 14/m whats a really good chemical hair straightener? like one that you spray on or even a shampoo that will make my hair striaght

Chemical straighteners are so awful for your hair including the following risks:
1. Harmful health effects.
2. Chemical burns.
3. Red scalp.
4. Receding hairline.
If you really MUST, though, go to a professional. They contain dangerous chemicals, like PHOSPHORIC ACID and AMMONIUM HYDROXIDE, which can be hazardous if split or you have an accident with them. You never know. They have the potential to spread to other parts of the body, anyway.

Q: people say different things about the shampoo mayne and tail
does it actually make your hair grow?
is it bad for your hair like give you split ends?
|
|
|
|
|

No, no it doesn't. All Mane 'n Tail does is make your hair healthy so it doesn't break and split off. I never heard that it causes split ends, but I do hear that it causes some people's hair to become oily, therefore it should be alternated with regular shampoo. It actually works best on horses, believe it or not. Makes their manes and tails all thick and shiny.

Happy 2008! My name is Dana for those of you who don't know, and I obviously love to give advice, because if I didn't, I wouldn't be here. I will pick at anyone who doesn't bother to capitalize their "I"'s or the beginnings of sentences. Proper grammar and spelling is very important to me. bcuz it Just loooks soooo sloppie when u type lyke this. So a word to the wise, and for the majority of you that it doesn't apply to, think about it, and watch yourself. Second of all, I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever write something that is not true. So therefore I am always right. So stand down and accept it. (Note: that also means that my "opinions" are actual facts. At least the ones I bother to write.)
Never ask me anything about how fat you are or love life. Cliched, I know, but I am heartless when it comes to the truth. If you don't know what to do with your cheating boyfriend that you still love, go ask someone else since I could not care less. Seriously.
Have a nice day!
Love,
missbananafontana

WARNING:
My answers will be based on a preppy lifestyle. I am the clean, preppy sort, like the person who looks clean and classy and doesn't really notice anyone who isn't, regardless that some weirdos think that preppy people hate them. Also, if you wonder about the corrections on the answers I give, no worries; they're just simple corrections to those who don't know where to put a period, or that they have to capitalize the beginnings of sentences. Please don't be offended.
