Hi, I'm Erika, and this is the first question I'm asking on Advicenators. For my HS, we're doing an AD Sweep downtown. My teacher says we need to dress nice, sophisticated, and casual... and I'm not a very businessy type of person, so is there anything I could wear that would be, you know, "sophisticated"??? Also, we can't wear pants.

I am confused why you can't wear pants - espesially if the look you are trying to pull of is casual sophisticted. A pair of nice black slacks can look just a good as a skirt, and is much more practical. Even in the bussiness world, I rarely wear a skirt. Are you sure they just don't mean jeans or casual pants?

Wear a dark colored skirt, (or slacks if you can) and a nice blouse or sweater.

I want to send out a note with an invitation to a party and say presents are not expected but if anyone would like to buy a present vouchers would be very acceptable.

It is always poor etiquette to mention gifts on an invitation. If a guest asks you, then you may mention what you would want.

***EDIT***
Could you give me a reason why I recived a 1?
Go read Emily Post's Rules of Etiquette, she will tell you the same thing.
