Well, to compare something to Ferrari, is to say it is the best possible. The Ferrari car is one of the best cars available. So people will often say "This is the Ferrari of PCs" i.e. this is one of the best computers on the market.
So I suspect they meant that you are quite good looking, and generally an extremely sought after and nice girl. This may have made your boyfriend upset, because he may have gotten jealous. Either that or he is a feminist and didn't like the way you were being objectified.
But it sounds like they were complimenting you, and they went too far, thus explaining your boyfriends emotions.
