advice

Hi, my bf and i are planning to have sex and we are both very cautions about our decision and hence decided to take this safely. I wanted to know:
1) which birth pills should i take - the best quality ones?
2) How often should i take the birth pills?
3) Do birth pills affect the periods?
4) Is it safe - are there any side affects?

Any information on the birth control pills would be great!
Thx

You will have to meet with either a doctor or go to planned parenthood in order to get birth control. Your doctor will probably prescribe you Loestrin24fe or Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo. These are the two lowest dose birth control pills, and they are commonly given to women taking the pill for the first time. You have to take the pill everyday. Your period will often be shorter and lighter. Birth control is safe, but there's risk of stroke, heart attack, or blood clots, however, this is more common in women who smoke or are over 35 years of age. You might find some non-life threatening health issues associated with your birth control like weight gain, chronic yeast infections, or loss of sex drive. Talk to your doctor about switching the brand of birth control if this occurs.
