This site is run by someone who doesn't have class, Who likes to pigeon hole people. The same guy who supposedly is running an "ADVICE" column but somehow has pre-teens asking about sex and how to do sexual things to their "partners" this site is also filled with people giving advice that is NOT helpful or use full in any form rather than most encouraging the young ones. Well lets get to the bottom of it, This site is a laughing matter. Dangernerd is a joke and couldn't be a bigger clown ;)
advice
First, I am a 31 year old female and have been married for 10 years.
I had what I thought was a yeast infection start nearly two weeks ago. On Friday, after having treated with OTC products to no avail, I saw a gyn. He gave me an Rx pill and cream and did a wet prep to confirm. I can access test results online and have just found that the test showed no yeast, but trichomonas vaginalis, an STD. Could the test be wrong? Or is there another way to contract trichomoniasis?
I have searched the internet and really haven't found a definite answer. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow to confirm. I just want to know what possibilities there are so I can address this properly with him. Any personal experiences would be very helpful.
It's possible the test could be wrong but if you went to a gynocologist then the chances of the test being wrong is probably very small. trichomonas vaginalis can be passed through having sex with your partner, wiping yourself with a cloth and I'm sure there are many other ways to contract it as well.

(Donné 1836)
Trichomonas vaginalis, an anaerobic, parasitic flagellated protozoan, is the causative agent of trichomoniasis, and is the most common pathogenic protozoan infection of humans in industrialized countries.[1] The WHO has estimated that 180 million cases of infection are acquired annually worldwide. The estimates for North America alone are between 5 and 8 million new infections each year, with an estimated rate of asymptomatic cases as high as 50%
If you are still unsure about the results, You could ask if you could have another exam done
(Rating: 5) Thank you. That is pretty much what I had found. I can't find any definite causes other than sex though. It seems wiping with a washcloth or towel is considered possible, but highly unlikely.
