Alright, well i just went to my first gyno appt yesterday. I am 16/f and i am sexually active. My mom wants to put me on birth control. Thing is, i am not sure which one would be good for me. I DO NOT want to do the depo shot, ive heard bad things about it, plus i dont want to gain weight. And i do not want to use the ring, or yaz.

I was thinking about the patch? i want your experiences with different types of birth control. Blood clots run in my family from birth control, but if im on a low dosage it shouldnt matter. Again, i would rather not gain any weight, a little would be okay though.

Let me here your thoughts :]

Thank you very much!

birth control pills are one of the most effective methods for preventing pregnancy. a study of more than 6,000 women in the United States showed that ortho tri cyclen lo is safe and highly effective. i'm on the pill and have been for about two years and i am taking the ortho tri clylen lo. it may reduce cramps and give you shorter, lighter, more predictable periods, with low occurrence of common side effects. you may be less likely to experience unexpected bleeding and spotting than may occur with another leading brand. it is a low-dose birth control pill you take every day. when taken as directed, it delivers a low dose of hormones that works to prevent you from becoming pregnant. it is a triphasic birth control pill, which means that it delivers a different level of hormones for 3 weeks (white, light blue and dark blue pills) and no hormones for 1 week (green pills). now when i first started taking it i had no side effects at all. no weight gain, no spotted bleeding inbetween periods, nothing. my doctor said that this would be the best one for me to take, so she prescribed it to me and i've been taking it ever since. you can also go talk to a doctor. tell him or her that you want to get on it, and see what they recommend. my doctor said that the depo was not good for someone my age, and at that time i was 16 too so you're right about hearing bad things about depo. well i hoped i helped somewhat :) if you need anything else let me know! ♥ LU
