Q: My ipod has many many songs on it, all of which have different volume standards. One song may need the volume turned almost all the way up just to barely hear it, and then the song switches and I get my ear drums blasted out of my head if I leave it turned up so loud. I never know how high or low the volume needs to be so I can hear it nicely.

Anyway, is there a way to regulate volume for all of your songs on itunes so their volume standards are the same? I've heard of doing this, but I'm not sure how to do it.

Enable the sound check on your iPod. Next time you connect your iPod and sync it, it should work fine. Here is what I found on www.apple.com:

Question: Can I standardize the volume for all the music tracks in my MP3 player?

Answer: Music CDs are all mastered differently, with large discrepancies in volume between songs on different albums. With iPod for the Mac, you can standardize the volume of all the songs in your music library with the Sound Check feature in iTunes 3 or later. You can turn Sound Check on or off by choosing Sound Check in Settings in the main iPod menu.
