hmm i would really appriciate if someone would shine some light on my following questions.
i would really love to live in new york, but im not planning on moving there until maybe in 3 and a half years? or less
i have to finish collage first,
anyways,
what are some safe neighborhoods to live in, that are near new york city? i would really like to live outside of the city but just close enough to have a nice view,
also what would be a reasonable rent payment for a studio or maybe one bedroom apartament?
i would like to live maybe tops 30 minutes outside of the city if not less =)
all help APPRICIATED!! thank you
The price of living in and around NYC is freaking astronomical. I've seen one room studios in the city go for $2500 a month...and that's just one room! You'll also pay a hefty amount living in the other 4 boroughs.
Factor in you get not just NYS taxes taken out of your check, but NYC taxes as well, overlooked items such as the price of auto insurance, job competition, over $3.00 a gallon gas, $8 packs of cigarettes, the price of parking if you work in Manhattan, little things like the price of parking tickets should you get one- it's all stuff to keep in mind. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is more expensive in the city. It's incredibly hard to live here and it isn't like anywhereeee else in the world- live and work here for a month and you'll see what I mean. You asking what safe neighborhoods exist around the city insinuates that you might be starry eyed by the glitz and glamor of the city, but you are in for one hell of a culture shock if you live here.
I don't want to sound like I am shooting down your dream here and I am all for you moving here and becoming a NY'er, but keep the reality in mind that this is a very big, very intimidating and VERY expensive place to live that is a complete 180 from any place you're used to living in.
(Rating: 5) wow, that is some speach there, and thank you
