i know you can lose muscle mass but hes saying that once you build muscle you cannot lose it.
so can you lose the actual muscle?
Your body has a bare minimum of muscle anyway, the extra muscle that you build on top of it can be lost if you don't work it enough/the right way. Protein deficiency and not drawing enough water into the muscle are the main reasons muscles will shrink on top of not enough exercise.
The more muscle mass you have; the more you need to eat/work out to maintain it and it's excellent to have a high amount of muscle fiber because you can store glucose converted to glycogen more than someone with average/less than average amounts of muscle and therefore you put yourself less at risk for Diabetes for starters.
