Does anyone know if any studies have been done regarding the harmful side-effects of tattoos?
If so, a quick summary of the results would be appreciated!

I searched Google for your information. I think it would be more benficial to you to read it yourself instead of me summarizing it, since I don't know what, specifically, you are looking for.
This is exactly what I did. Go to Google and type in tatoo ink side effects. I found more things than I can list here, so it's probably best if you do it youself.
For example, I found http://www.news-medical.net/?id=8377. That is a study done by chemistry students at Northern Arizona University titled "Health Problems with the Unknown Compositions of Tattoo Inks."
If you need more after that, try searching tattoo ink dangers.
I'm sorry, I would summarize for you, but I found more information and websites with these search terms than I can list here. So try Google like I said and you will find more than you need.
