Hi, I have been talking to this guy online.....I really like him..he asked me out and I said yes. DOnt worry I have no intentions on meeting him anytime soon.But i dont know if I should tell my friends about him because they think talking to people online that you dont know is wrong..and i know they will probably get mad at me and think I am crazy. He has sent me a picture...but should I trust him that its actually him? And whats your opinion on online dating?

I met my husband through a personal ad, not online but it is similar to your situation. All you can do is be safe and cautious about it. Don't believe anything the guy tells you until you meet him face to face and really get to know him. When meeting him for the first time make sure it's in a public place and preferrably with a friend present.
As far as your friends go... I certainly wouldn't keep him a secret, but I wouldn't tell them anything about it until I know for certain that there's a true relationship there, for example after you've actually met and realized that he's real and that the relationship might work. You might have a different relationship when you actually meet then the one online. If your friends are true and they see that you have taken precautions when meeting this fellow then they might understand and come to accept the fact that you met online. I know that they have these concerns because the internet CAN be a scary place. Besides, if they don't come to terms after you've been dating this guy for awhile, then it shouldn't really matter what they think as long as you're happy and safe.
My personal opinion on online dating: be cautious, be safe, know what you are doing at all times, and never expect things to be real until after you've met the person in real life and get to know them.
