In the northern hemisphere(where the US is), the earth is closest to the sun during winter. So the distance has nothing to do with the temperature(it's actually the tilt of the earth that causes the seasons). Like the other columnists say, it's the air pressure that makes it cold at the top of a mountain.

Does anyone watch the TV series Lost? Im obssessed and i just wanted to hear your opinion on the fenale this past wednesday. Here are some things to dicuss
Walt. Is he here? is he alive? he did look alittle older, when he apeared in the beginnnig. So, that means that he could be alive if hes ageing.
John Lock. Do you think he'll become the next leader of the others? Will he be rescued with the rest of the camp, if they do get rescued, sense he doesnt want to leave teh island?
JAck. Why does he think that they arent supposed to leave the island? Why does he want to go back? What changed him to be so terrible in the future, when they are off the island?
Kate. When they look to the future, is Kate living with Sawyer? And they were talking about a funeral, who died? John? Hugo? Sun? or who?
Desmin, Penny, Charlie, and Naomi. What Naomi a bad guy? If so, why was she trying to help? What boat was she talking about? how did penny get the transimision to the Looking Glass?

I love lost, though I liked it better when the DHARMA initiative was talked about more(though I'm sure they'll get into that more in the next season).
-I think Walt was an apparition from the Black Smoke or Jacob, and not really there. I think Walt and Michael are dead.
-I think Lock will start a coup among the others, overthrowing Ben and a small number of his loyalists. These loyalists will still be antagonists.
-Jack has more meaning in his life on the island than he(or most other people) have in "real life". So if he ever escapes I think it natural he would want to return, and it appears he becomes depressed because he wants it so bad.
-Kate is probably with sawyer, but who knows? I have no idea who the funeral is for. Both are big mysteries.
-I think Ben spoke the truth when he said the organization Naomi worked for will kill everyone on the island. She was probably trying to rescue herself, and do her job(inform her employer she found the island). I think it's pretty clear she was lying about the boat. Penny was probably actively scanning all radio frequencies for an opening in the jamming device, so when one opened she sent a transmission right away.

yesterday, i was trying to end my AOL notifications by using using task manager [alt+cntrl+delete] in the "processes" tab. well, in the process, i went through and deleted things i didn't think i needed [i'm pretty computer-knowledgable.. except for now. haha.] i must have ended a process that i didn't mean to, because now my task manager looks like this when i open it [minus the black boxes, i did that so no one would see my user name]:

The best way to change the size is using the resize option on a program like irfanview. You can sometimes resize at the image host, like you can with imageshack. A way that isn't supported in all browsers is:

i dont know if im depressed but i saw this ( one advicenator put this in her/his answer stating it was 6 major signs of depression)

For my history class, I'm researching Rent & Larson, the author. Anyway, I can't think of a thesis or introduction for the paper. I've always struggled with writting papers in general but I have the rest of it under control. Any ideas on how to start my paper? I don't really have anything to prove since I'm just telling about it... I don't want to compare and contras for more than one paragraph in the paper. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Go to start, then run, type:
control desktop
Go to the "settings" tab, near the top of the new window. In the "screen resolution" section, move the slider to the right, you probably shouldn't move it past 1024x768. If it doesn't move past 800x600, you are probably in safe mode, and you should restart the computer; make sure it doesn't go in safe mode again. If you are not in safe mode and it still won't go past 800x600, your display drivers are broken and you should reinstall them; I don't want to walk you through installing display drivers, since it's very complex, call geeksquad or something.

Extract all the files from install.zip and put them on your desktop. Run install.bat and it'll put a shortcut to an address bar-less IE7. There's no way to do this without vbscript that I know of :(, but this should be pretty easy for you :).
You can't open it with your homepage of choice, and I can't replace the back and forward buttons. Right click shortcut.vbs and select "edit" if you want to give a crack at changing the startup page yourself(it's not too hard).

The virus was designed to open aim, go the the buddy list, and send messages to everyone on the buddy list. It can do this only if you are signed into AIM, and probably only if you are using the official AIM client. I'm not sure if the virus actually moves the mouse/simulates keystrokes, or if it exploits AIM in a different way. Take a look at some of the results of:

Okay, so my computer has the program "Sound Recorder". It's very standard and came with the computer. Is there any way to extend the amount of time it will let me record for because for now, an entire minute is the maximum.

I'm taking English with the most annoying people on earth. They frustrate me to death, and I strongly believe that some of their oppinions that come through our class-disscussions are wrong. My teacher on the other hand agrees with them and says I need to realize that my way of seeing things is..well, a minority. And that the majority of people would agree with my class. I work at a drop-in center as a part-time student. My boss, who was originally hired as a replacement for another woman who has gone on maternity leave, has just quit. There is a very good chance that our Board will ask me to cover until September, when the lady with the baby comes back.
During my time at the center (I have been here a year and four months), I have been asked to accept a level of responsibility above what I was hired for. Despite this, I have not had a raise - comparable to the replacement-lady, who has had numerous raises, even though she has screwed up in several crucial areas (fund raising, completing grant applications, paying bills).
If I get asked to cover full-time at the center until September, then I would like a raise at least. I don't have to make as much money as everyone else in the boss position did, but a raise would be nice. My question, therefore, is this: how do I politely inform my employers that I either get a raise to go with the new position (and not one that can be taken back in September), or I'll walk... how does one deliver a nice, professional ultimatum like that?

No. Don't worry about 8 glasses a day, either. Just drink when you're thirsty. The best practice is to always keep water around you, and drink when you feel like it; you'll probably find you drink around 8 glasses a day, and however much you drink is how much you should.

Sorry, but you can't. When you visit a page, all the content is downloaded to your computer and displayed on your browser; if it's not downloaded, it's not displayed. So it's impossible for you to both display an image and prevent someone from downloading it. Even with right click prevention(which you can't use in myspace anyways), you can go to view>page source(page>view source in IE) and find the URL, no screenshots needed.
