Q: How does one cancell a question once it is asked?

If you click on "Your Questions" on the side there, there's an option to delete a question. If you delete a question it no longer shows up on any of the search/view pages.

I just came on and I'm not a moderator any more, not even a level 1. I can live if I was demoded but I was wondering why I'm not even a L1. I don't have a average rating, I know that but I thought even if your demoded from the L2 spot your just a L1.
If you could help me understand this, that would be great.

The requirements to be a moderator are the requirements to be a moderator, period. There's an automatic script that goes through and calculates whether or not you're qualified, and if you're not, it demods you, whether you were a level I or a level II.
We don't think it'd be fair to keep people as L1, even if they might have left the site, because they used to be L2. That kind of stuff is really hard to keep track of anyway.

Q: I tried to find this in the FAQ, but i couldn't, so I'm sorry if you've already answered this. On the questions, when it says what time they were each asked at, what time zone are you referring to?? Also , for the organized chat times, is that the same time zone? Thanks!!

Q: Hello! I just thought I'd make a suggestion about the organized chat times. Don't you think that you should "advertise" them on the main page? I found out about them through the Site News, but not many people read that. I think there would be much better results if you were to show it on the Advicenators home page! Just a suggestion! Scheduled chats are advertised on the main page starting the day before they actually happen. I could keep the announcement up there for more days, but I don't want to clutter things up there too much, you know? I'll think about it. thanks.

Q: Can mods delete private questions (questions asked to one particular columist) or only questions that are asked to the entire site?

Mods can delete private questions, but they don't run across them in their normal mod scanning. The mods have a box they can check when they ban someone to delete everything that person has asked... that's really the only way a private question will get deleted. There's no easy way for moderators to look at private questions.

I was a level 1 moderator for a long time. I love this site a lot. I am on it every single day and am ALWAYS updating my column. I noticed that you only have 9 level 2 mods. I also noticed that there are usually 10. I was just wondering, when/if at all, are you going to appoint a new one?

Q: My account has been activated today for paying but I have no star, My ending date says Dec 31st 1969 lol and when I try to go into the discussions it says I dont have rights to view. Any reason why?

Site errors! You're only the eighth paid user we have (yeah) but I'm glad you joined in because no one else felt the need to point these issues out to me. I wondered why the discussion forums were so dead!
You won't see a star until your name shows up in columnist search pages, and for that you have to answer five questions. But the date and discussion forum thing should be fixed. Thank you!
I wish more poeple would point out errors when they see them... I missed all this stuff. sigh.

Q: This isnt really a suggestion but i didnt know where else to ask this. In my column, xoxbrokenxox, it gives the wrong information in the box. Like it says "rated: 27 times" or something like that and ive counted and its been more, and things like that. I want this problem to be fixed please.

First off, you should know that if you say, "Please don't delete this!" then we'll probably delete it. It's a sign.
Second, this is a site for advice. We're not here to tell you whether you're pregnant or not, that's not an advice question, that's a $15 test you buy at the drugstore. If you're so worried about it I'd suggest using a condom next time.

Q: I wrote the chat schedule on my calender when you first put it out. I have May 16 at 8p written down. Did you want it taken off or did it get deleted from opening page by accident. Q: Is there a way you guys can make it so that when we click on our own advice column the hit counter doesn't register our hits? I hate having to keep track of how many times I've looked at it just so I can have an accurate count of how many times others have looked at it. Or maybe you can add a stats page that we can view without having to go to our own column.

Yeah, I've gotten this request a couple times.
Try this: I just made it so that if you visit your column from any link on the "Column Settings" page, it won't register with the visitors counter. Basically, this adds "&prev=1" to the URL of your column. You can bookmark one of those addresses and check it whenever. You can also click the "feedback" link from there and bookmark that.

No. I'm an electrical engineer. But even I don't make all the rules on this site, I usually turn to my moderators for opinions on how things should be regulated. I don't think any of them are school principals but I haven't thought to ask... most of them are probably still in school, judging from age data.

how something on the site works, unless you've read every word of our help pages and you're sure it's not addressed there.
3) Do not ask me to ban someone or investigate abuse. We have an entire abuse system set up for that.

Some guidelines about suggestions:
If you offer a suggestion that I find interesting, I might just ignore your question so it stays in my inbox as a reminder of something to do. Don't be upset that I don't answer you, and don't delete your questions (because then I'll forget!)
If you have three suggestions, please ask three separate questions, that way I can address each one individually. It's a real pain when people ask one question with like twenty different topics in it; I can't keep them straight.
