advice
Ok so im 14, and i'm going to high school..
What's some stuff i SHOULD do and SHOULDN'T do
Like i need advice on making more friends
If it Helps:
*I'm friends with a few sophmores and juniors
*My school is very clique-y
*I'm friends with ALOT of people ranging from the "popular" people to "ghetto" people to "nerds"
srry I HATE using labels but i couldnt describe them any better
High school honestly isn't that bad. Upperclassmen might try to make it sound like the most dreadful thing in the world, but once you get there, they don't care about you all all.
-Be yourself. Don't be someone you're not. That'll just make EVERYONE hate you.
-Don't try to be extremly popular and act like you know and are friends with everyone. That'll just get on everyone's nerves.
-Just be friendly. Talk to people who sit around you during class. Join a club or two. Maybe a sport. Try to be a well-rounded person.
-Don't be a slut.
-Don't try to suck up to the upperclassmen.
-Just go about your own business.
You're friends with people from different cliques, and that's good. Every school has cliques, and yeah, some worse than others, but you said you're friends with everyone. I don't think you'll have a problem with that, as long as you don't act totally different between the groups. You'll be fine.
i am getting my hair cut, i want to get it right above my shoulders.

does anyone have any ideas?

does anyone know if lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide can be heat activated (flat iron/blowdrier)
or if you have to go out in the sun to make it work
You can blowdry it, but laying out in the sun works best. You could probably flat iron it too, but after you put the lemon juice in, your hair feels kind of gross, and you might want to shower. But I'm sure both would work. I wouldn't recommend sun-in. I have light brown hair, and it turned my hair orangish.
Hey guys,
Okay. Well, I have a summer job-babysitting. And by the end of the summer (August 27), I'll have appx. $415--That is, IF I don't spend it. This is going to be tough, because I go to a local amusement park with my friends 1 time a week & I usually spend about $10 a day. I also have another "job"-I clean my brother's whole downstairs and get $20 per week.
$415 is a lot of money, but it seems like nothing, because I need:
-a laptop (my brother broke my computer recently [i'm on his right now])
Do you really NEED these things? Sure, they're nice to have, but they aren't neccessary. I don't have my own computer. I have to share one with my mom, dad, and brother, plus my cousins come here like weekday from 8-5, [my cousins are on the computer like the entire time] and it works out fine. Laptops are at least $500. Does it have to be a lap top, though? If you want a computer as soon as possible, you can get a desktop for about $100 cheaper. Plus, your brother broke it. HE should pay for it, or at least meet you half way.
As for the ipod, those prices vary. I'm not sure what kind you want and all that. You can get one for like $100, even if it isn't the BEST. You can save up for a better one later.
Clothes. Hm. Where do you shop? If you shop at Hollister and Abercombie, you aren't getting much for your money. Try Kohls or JC Penny. They have nice clothes and it's cheap. If you really don't want to shop at these places, shop at Hollister and all that, but only buy the clearence. Some of those clothes are INCREDIBLY expensive. Buy a shirt for about $10 or $15 and jeans for $20. Maybe ask you parents for back-to-school shopping [especially if you go to a public school]. My mom gave me $300 for school last year. It was my first year in a public school, though. So this year I'll get less. But, since you said you really need clothes, maybe your parents will give you some.
My suggestion is to take money out of your paycheck and put a little toward each. Take about 25% for clothes, 25% the ipod, 25% for the laptop, and 25% for the car. Maybe less for the car, since you aren't 15. I'll be 15 1/2 next month and I haven't started saving for a car. When you're 16, you can get a good job and probably make more money. Since you really need the other things now, maybe put the car on hold until after you get these other things.
I have no idea how much these things would cost. It really depends on which kind you buy and where you shop.

Everytime you spend money, put the change in a jar. Ask your parents for spare change, or find some around the house. You can come up with a few extra bucks with just change alone.
Also, maybe you can do chores around the house. Then, spend that money at the amusement park. If not, I wouldn't recommend spending $10 each time if you want these items as soon as possible. Good luck!
i heard a song today
and it goes like
you dont know me you dont wear my chains.
do ya know waht song it is
THXX mucho love
tiff
It's called Boston by Augustana.
"Boston"
In the light of the sun, is there anyone? Oh it has begun...
Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed,
This world you must've crossed... you said...
You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah,
She said
You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah,
Essential yet appealed, carry all your thoughts across
An open field,
When flowers gaze at you... they're not the only ones who cry
When they see you
You said...
You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah,
She said
You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah,
She said I think I'll go to Boston...
I think I'll start a new life,
I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name,
I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather,
I think I'll get a lover and fly em out to Spain...
I think I'll go to Boston,
I think that I'm just tired
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind...
I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset,
I hear it's nice in the Summer, some snow would be nice... oh yeah,
You don't know me, you don't even care...
Boston... where no one knows my name... yeah
Where no one knows my name...
Where no one knows my name...
Yeah Boston...
Where no one knows my name.

I'm a little nervous about what people say about high school. People say that high school is really a scary thing and that the older kids always pick on you. One of my older friends got molested at a high school party. (Problem Solved) Kids are always talking about the populars. I never had any problem with it in Middle Scool. And I really don't know what to expect ? Can anyone share expieriences and tell me the honest good and bad of high school ?
People probably just said that to scare you. It's not true at all. High school is pretty much nothing like on TV. Sure, there might be drama between you and your friends, just like middle school. But, upperclassmen seriously couldn't care less about you. Just go about your own business. Don't do anything that'll piss them off, you know, like trying to suck up to them, trying to be cool, just anything annoying, really.
As for your friend getting molested at a high school party, just don't hang around a bad crowd. Don't hang around people who drink, smoke, do drugs, sluts, etc. I'm not telling you not to go to parties, but just try to avoid those types of people.
Popular people don't care about you either. Like the upperclassmen, leave them alone, and you're fine.
I just finished my freshmen year and I really liked it. Like the other person said, it can be the best or the worst four years of your life. Don't try to be someone you're not. You'll be fine. I promise. Good luck and have fun! :)
Kay well my parents' are spliting up , and I've been expecting it , I'm not sad or anything [no I'm not in denil either] and I have a desision to make , who I want to live with.
1) My mom : She sooo nice and I can tell her anything , But she can get moody and emotinally abusive [just a little bit].
2) My Dad : He is always asleep or a work or on the computer ,I can't really talk to him about anything. He is always in a bad mood and is vitiamin D deficiant [usually really bad mood in the winter] and he over grounds me for everyhting.BUT he brings me places and gives me money and treats me my age.
I think you should live with your mom. Your dad gives you money when you ask, but if he grounds you all the time, how would you spend your money? I'm sure you mom will give you money and bring you places, too. It sounds like you're much closer to your mom. Everyone can be moody. I'm sure you can still visit your dad though. He'll give you money then. Plus he can send it. But I think your best choice would be your mom, but it's up to you.
I'm not sure if I'm still sick or not so what temperatures will tell me that I'm not? my body temperature measurement goes by Farenheight.
Your normal body temperature should be 98.6 degrees. Anything under 100, you're fine. If it gets to like 103, you're still pretty sick.
okay so on the commercial for the tv series Greek what is the song playing in the background!? i can't catch any of the lyrics and have tried www.songtapper.com and it doesnt work. i have heard this song on fuse or mtv or something like that.
thanksss :]
It's called "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T's :
PLAIN WHITE T'S LYRICS
"Hey There Delilah"
Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true
Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
This ones for you
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me.

okay so i am going to be a freshman in september. i am really scared, whats freshman year like? do the sophmores, juniors and seniors torture you?! what happenes on freshman friday?
another question, how do i make new friends? that might sound like a stupid question but, im shy. how do i become friends with some of the other freshman, sophmores, juniors or seniors? i want high school to be the best years of my life!
thanks for the helpp!!! =]
Freshman year is not that big a deal. My school has a pretty bad reputation, so I went in expecting the worst. But, I actually wasn't that nervous. I'm really shy too, unless I'm around my good friends. Making friends isn't that hard. Just talk to the people around you during class. Join a club or sport if you want.
And no, seniors pretty much couldn't care less about you. Unless you do something to really piss them off [acting concieted, trying to be cool, that kind of thing] they'll leave you alone. Of course, all schools are different, but I'd say you'll be fine. Freshman Friday doesn't exisist in my school. I bet it's just something they say to scare you, but they'll never actually do it.
Just go in there with an open mind and don't be annoying. You'll make tons of friends. I was a freshman last year, and I really enjoyed it. There's nothing to worry about. Enjoy, have fun, and good luck! :)
how do you delete your history on internet explorer?
Go to Tools --> Delete browsing history. Third one down. That'll delete the websites under the address bar too.

so im going to be a freshman, this september or august or whatever, and im like nervous. does it suckk incredibly? like do they seriously make fun of you? how bad is it?
It's not that bad at all. I was a freshman last year, and I went to a new school where I hardly knew anyone. I played volleyball, and that started a week before school, so I was able to know a few people before school actually started. So, I suggest joining a sport, or even a club. It's pretty easy to make friends.
I personally thought freshman year was pretty easy. The seniors never picked on freshmen either. They just basically ignored us, some were nice. But, that could vary from different schools.
As far as getting lost, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You can ask the teacher from your previous class how to get there. Or, you can ask other students. You can pretty much tell who will tell you the truth and who will just try to get you lost. There might even be signs around telling you where to go. I never got lost because there were signs.
Just don't go in there acting conceited, or carrying LOADS of books around, and don't be incredibly annoying. Just go about your own business, and no one should make fun of you or any of that. Good luck and have fun! :)
is there a site where i can learn some geography? anybody take a class on it in school?
I never took a class for it, but this past year for history, we were able to take an extra credit test on it. We had to label various countries and the US states and their capitals. There's tons of sites you can use:
http://www.dartmouth.edu/~charlo/peter/geo/
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/geography/
http://members.aol.com/bowermanb/101.html
If you want a specific country, just google, for example, "US states and capitals", or "map of Europe", depending on what you want. Good luck!
I live in Rhode Island and I'm going away to Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. tomorrow. That's considered far for our family and we are driving. We are leaving tomorrow and coming back Monday afternoon. That's 7 days. It's going to be VERY warm there. I don't know how much to pack for clothes, accessories, and things to do to keep me occupied for the ride. If you were going on this trip, what would you pack?
Like example:
# of shirts
# of necklaces
# of pajamas etc. etc.
Thank you!
I'd bring a little extra of everything. Ten shirts, 8 or 9 shorts, a pair of pants, and a sweartshirts. As for accessories, plan it with your outfits. I personally wear earrings and a necklace all the time, and usually I wear the same ones. Sometimes I'll change it though, depending on the outfit. So just plan outfits and jewelry to match. A bathing suit would be good too, just incase. For pajamas, you only need a few. Maybe around 3? I'd bring a pair of pants, and then shorts and a tank top. You never know what kind of weather there will be.
When I go on long car rides, I bring magazines and cards. A book might be good, too. I personally get sick of reading in the car, but that's just me. It's a good way to catch up on your summer reading. You could also buy handheld games. For instance, they have like hand-held yahtzee. If you have a portable DVD player, bring a few movies. Ipod/mp3 players are good too. Cell phone [if you can] to call friends. If you like to write or draw, bring some paper. Sleeping is a good way to pass time, hah. Bring tons of pillows and blankets [even if it isn't cold] to keep you comfortable in the car. Bring food in the car, too.
That's about all I can think of. Have fun on your vacation! :)
What are some symptoms that you need to get your tonsils removed?
I have a horrendous sore throat,
It hurts to swallow so badly.
I'm so paranoid that I might have to get my tonsils removed. So what are te symptoms of needing to get them out?
Thanks 14/f
-Find that it hurts to swallow. If the pain is intense, the child may stop swallowing saliva and start to drool.
-Complain of an earache
-Have a fever of 101 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
-Complain of a headache.
-Complain of a stomachache (this is quite common).
-Complain of general aches and pains, loss of appetite and may vomit.
-Have bad smelling breath.

It could just be strep throat though. Or just the flu. You should probably see a doctor either way.
im going out tonight and need some fun ideas for my hair. its medium length and kinda thick. i was thinking about teasing the back to make it look volumized? but im not too talented when it comes to these things. if you have any ideas or websites that tell how to do cute styles thatd be great.. thanks
You didn't say where you were going, so I'm not sure if you want something really nice, or just a different look.
Teasing your hair is really bad for it, so I don't recommed it.
If you don't normally straighten your hair, then that might be a good idea. Part it a different way then usual.
Curl it? You can wear tight or loose curls. They're cute and not too dressy or laid back kind of look. Claw it back in a clip if you want.
You could also just take a few bobbypins and pin a few strands of hair around your face back, like people do with bangs to get them out of the way.
If you didn't take a shower yet, when you get out, don't brush it. Scrunch it. If you have some curling creme, use it. Moose works too. That always looks cute.

so im having a sweet 16.
the theme is hollywood.
im planning on having it at a club.
the clubs im thinking of are in Pontiac Michigan.
they are tonic, tiki bobs, sevin, clutch cargo.
the rest of it i need help with.
i have no clue what to do for decorations or as a sweet entrance or what to have at my party that will be cool.
if anyone could help it would be totally amazing!
thanks!
For the invitations, you could have ADMIT ONE tickets. Or, you could have it in the shape of a clapboard. A Hollywood Star invitation maybe?
Right outside the club, you can have a Hollywood Walk Of Fame star tile with your name on it. At the front doors, you could have a Hollywood sign right above.
A red carpet is a must for a hollywood themed party. It's perfect for your enterance, then you can have lights shine on you as you walk in.
As for decor, maybe you could have posters of celebrities on the walls. Get some ballons saying Hollywood on them, a clapboard, and a film reel balloon. Also, table confetti with like cameras, rolls of film, that sort of thing. You can have swirling stars coming from the ceiling, and lanterned garlands. Red, black, and gold are the best colors to have.
For lights, you can have a Hollywood movie camera lamp, or a hollywood studio lamp. There's also star sparkle lights, which you can buy from one of the links below.
These sites have really good ideas and where you can buy some of these things. Everything's pretty cheap:
http://www.hollywoodmegastore.com/frame-set3.htm?http://www.hollywoodmegastore.com/0partydecor.html
http://www.partyrama.co.uk/mcp/Hollywood_Theme_-_Oscar_Party.html
http://www.gotparty.com/hollywood.htm
http://www.shindigz.com/catalog.cfm?cat=14826
That's all I could think of/find. I hope I helped and have fun at your party! :)
About how much are hair extensions?
and which are better, like the peices of ones or the ones that go around your whole head?
thanksss
I know one girl who got them, and it originally costs $900, but her mom owned the salon, so she got it for $80. They're really expensive. It can go from a few hundred to a few thousands. It depends on which salon you go to.
what are signs of teen depression/?
Two hallmarks of depression — symptoms key to establishing a diagnosis — are:
Loss of interest in normal daily activities. You lose interest in or pleasure from activities that you used to enjoy.
Depressed mood. You feel sad, helpless or hopeless, and may have crying spells.
In addition, for a doctor or other health professional to diagnose depression, most of the following signs and symptoms also must be present for at least two weeks.
Sleep disturbances. Sleeping too much or having problems sleeping can be a sign you're depressed. Waking in the middle of the night or early in the morning and not being able to get back to sleep are typical.
Impaired thinking or concentration. You may have trouble concentrating or making decisions and have problems with memory.
Changes in weight. An increased or reduced appetite and unexplained weight gain or loss may indicate depression.
Agitation. You may seem restless, agitated, irritable and easily annoyed.
Fatigue or slowing of body movements. You feel weariness and lack of energy nearly every day. You may feel as tired in the morning as you did when you went to bed the night before. You may feel like you're doing everything in slow motion, or you may speak in a slow, monotonous tone.
Low self-esteem. You feel worthless and have excessive guilt.
Less interest in sex. If you were sexually active before developing depression, you may notice a dramatic decrease in your level of interest in having sexual relations.
Thoughts of death. You have a persistent negative view of yourself, your situation and the future. You may have thoughts of death, dying or suicide

i have the video game ddr (dance dance revolution) and i would definitely get bored and lose motivation quickly doing a regular running/walking workout. so do you think if i did ddr for a set time daily or like 5 days a week that i could lose a few pounds? im only looking to lose maybe 5, at most 10 pounds. im not in a rush but the sooner the better. im trying to eat healthier also, but thats a different story. if it would be a good cardio workout, how long should i do it for daily? a half hour? 45 minutes? im willing to try to fit it into my days if it will help. thanks
A few years ago there was a guy on the news, and he lost like 70 pounds using DDR. So yeah, it is a good workout. Depending on how fast you want to lose the weight would determine how long. Maybe like a half hour, five times a week you should see results soon.
