I live in Rhode Island and I'm going away to Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. tomorrow. That's considered far for our family and we are driving. We are leaving tomorrow and coming back Monday afternoon. That's 7 days. It's going to be VERY warm there. I don't know how much to pack for clothes, accessories, and things to do to keep me occupied for the ride. If you were going on this trip, what would you pack?
Like example:
# of shirts
# of necklaces
# of pajamas etc. etc.
Thank you!

Ten shirts, 8 or 9 shorts, a pair of pants, and a sweartshirts. As for accessories, plan it with your outfits. I personally wear earrings and a necklace all the time, and usually I wear the same ones. Sometimes I'll change it though, depending on the outfit. So just plan outfits and jewelry to match. A bathing suit would be good too, just incase. For pajamas, you only need a few. Maybe around 3? I'd bring a pair of pants, and then shorts and a tank top. You never know what kind of weather there will be.
When I go on long car rides, I bring magazines and cards. A book might be good, too. I personally get sick of reading in the car, but that's just me. It's a good way to catch up on your summer reading. You could also buy handheld games. For instance, they have like hand-held yahtzee. If you have a portable DVD player, bring a few movies. Ipod/mp3 players are good too. Cell phone [if you can] to call friends. If you like to write or draw, bring some paper. Sleeping is a good way to pass time, hah. Bring tons of pillows and blankets [even if it isn't cold] to keep you comfortable in the car. Bring food in the car, too.
That's about all I can think of. Have fun on your vacation! :) [ advicer's advice column | Ask advicer A Question ]

I live in Massachusetts and we drove down to Virginia around two months ago. Took 17 hours because my mom got lost, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. First time i've ever been in a car that long. We went for around 7 days too. I'd say to bring 8 or 9 shirts. Bring the same number of shorts as well. Also, bring one sweatshirt and pair of pants, because you never know if the weather will change. I always make sure to bring one. Just bring a few necklaces, etc. and maybe 4 pairs of pajamas because pajama's don't need ot be changed every day.
For the ride, I don't know that i'd recommend books because books make many people [including myself] carsick when read during the ride. You should bring an ipod or mp3 player if you have one. Bring pillows and blankets so you can sleep. Bring food too because you'll get hungry. I didn't have an ipod because mine broke, so I mostly just stayed awake and observed the states. It's fun to see a new state :] Also, i'd take little notes on what each state was like so that i'd always remember. You could also bring a gameboy or something if you want to be occupied.
Just remember to get your parents to stop at the rest stops. That helps the ride because it gives you breaks from being in the car. From my experience, I couldn't wait to get out of the car every change I got. :]

queenhearts answered Monday July 9 2007, 1:38 pm: I just went on a road trip. But I'm staying here for 2 weeks.
I would bring a box full of your favorite accessories or put it in a ziplock bag. Those come in hand when you have want to separate certain things. I'm using one to put my makeup in, hairties, and jewelry.
You'll need to bring a lot of clothes.. just in case you change in the middle of the day. I went through a lot of clothes in one week already! It's so hot, so I change into tank tops and shorts a lot. Bring about 10 shirts and a few extras if you think you need it . For jeans, about 7 would be good and maybe a few pairs of shorts?
To keep you busy for the ride..
-Bring a book/magazines
-Mp3 player
-Camera
-Paper/Journal for writing, doodling
-Gameboy
-Snacks
It really depends on what you have. My little sister always brings Dvds to watch on our portable player.
I would bring a shirt for everyday [7], plus three extra shirts, [making 10 total]. That way, you have enough for every day, and if you spill something on one of them, you have three backups. Remember, the more, the merrier! Also- you might want to bring a separate set of clothes for the trip there and back.
I guess you could bring 3 necklaces.. I'm not sure about that.. I'm a guy.. I don't have ANY clue about that sort of stuff.
I would bring 3 pairs of pajamas.. that way you can swap each night, and you'll only have to wear one three times.. and most clothes are still fine after the 2nd time.. at least for guys.. haha.
Bring two pairs of pants.. and 5 or 6 pairs of shorts. Pants because you never know if it will be too cold to wear shorts, and shorts because I know that D.C. is warm around this time of the year.
Bring enough underwear/bras for each day. Plus, just like the shirts, bring extra! You don't want to be stuck wearing things like that over again!
Bring your bathing suit. Even if you aren't sure if you're swimming or not.. at least you'll have it if you get the opportunity to.
Bring two towels. I don't know where exactly you're going, but I'm sure there will be a place to take showers.. bring whatever other toiletries you think you'll need. Again, I don't know what those will be for you, as I'm not a girl. I guess that means tampons, razor, etc.
As for the ride down and back up: bring a book. Bring anything that you can do while sitting down. Bring cards maybe. You and your family can play car games.. trust me... there are many:
I know of a really fun one.. my sister and I played it on our way home from Cedar Point last week. You can have two, three, four or however many people you want to play, just not too many. One person names a candy, and the next person names another candy different from that one. You keep naming candies until no one can name anymore. The last person to name a candy wins.. and there are a few rules: You can't repeat candy names. You can't get help from anyone or any outside source [internet, etc.]. And basically you can set up any other rules you want. This game will seriously last for HOURS!
