Tonsils What are some symptoms that you need to get your tonsils removed?
I have a horrendous sore throat,
It hurts to swallow so badly.
I'm so paranoid that I might have to get my tonsils removed. So what are te symptoms of needing to get them out?
Thanks 14/f

It could just be strep throat though. Or just the flu. You should probably see a doctor either way. ]

There really isn't symptoms of needing to have them removed. When you get a severe case of Mono or Tonsillitis, your doctor would let you know if they needed to be removed.
Have your mom look at your tonsils with a flashlight. If you have spots on them, you may have Tonsillitis or Mono, but that by no means, means that you need to have them removed. Check with a doctor soon if you have white spots, or your throat doesn't feel better in 2-4 days. I've had both and I still have my tonsils. ]
Don't worry. It could just be a really bad sore throat. I've had one recently & it turned out it was mono. Not to scare you or anything haha. You should definitely go to the doctor asap to see. You may even have strep. To get your tonsils removed, there are certain signs & symptoms. Some are similar to regular sore throats though.

Even though you may have some signs/symptoms, that doesn't necessarily mean you have Tonsillitis. You should be diagnosed by a doctor.
-hope that helped!♥ ]
