Does anyone know where i can watch the full verion of "Painted Babies Growing Up" I believe thats what the original documentary was called when it aired in London on BBC network. In america it was aired as Painted Babies at 17 and it aired on TLC.
I've tried googling and youtubing it but wassn't able to find it. (i only found a short clip of it on youtube.)

Thanks so much! (link)
Hello there,

After an hour or so of research on "Painted Babies Growing Up" or "Painted Babies at 17," the outlook on finding a place to watch it on-line is looking pretty bleak.

I tried TLC, BBC and also NetFlix (which doesn't even carry the original "Painted Babies" as far as I could find) all with the same result: Nothing.

If you can catch "Painted Babies Growing Up" re-running on BBC, and you are in the UK, you can watch it up to 7 days after it airs by watching on the BBC iPlayer:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/

... at least that is what I got out of it.

Sorry I couldn't find it for you. If you find a way, please let us know in feedback.

Hi I just bought the old rainbow six lockdown game for my pc I like the game but would like to play it with a joystick controller. I read that its possible to play with the controller after configuration. Problem is i do not know how to configure the game or what to do. Please help me, the game is played much better with the controller. (link)
Hi there,

The best place to get all the Rainbow Six Lockdown answers you could ever want, would be the forum for "legacy" Rainbow Six games:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/8081011862

... This covers all Rainbow Six games prior to the new one: Rainbow Six: Vegas 2

As far as the joystick controller for Rainbow Six Lockdown, it should configure like most any other game out there:

Options >> Controls >> Keys

... or something along those lines. Then you select the command you want to assign to a joystick button and press that button to tie the command to it.

This is the way most all games like this have worked for the last decade or more, so it should be so here also.

As for the game being old... Consider this: Starcraft came out in 1998, and is still being played by hundreds of thousands of people on-line today. Of course, this is an all time classic we are talking about here, so your mileage may vary with Rainbow Six Lockdown.

Whatever the outcome, the best place to start is in a forum full of people already doing what you want to do, so head on over to the Rainbow Six Legacy forums and post any and everything you want to know about Rainbow Six: Lockdown... After you search for the answers there first, of course. No need to ask if it has already been answered.

Enjoy your Rainbow Six adventure.

so i used to play this game on bigfishgames.com where you like, took puzzle pieces, they looked like gems and came out on a converor belt type thing, and put them into a picture and made them all fit together, it was a puzzle type game.
and i cant remember the name of it!

does anybody know?! (link)
Hi there,

I went through the games list on bigfishgames.com, and looked through most of the free on-line puzzle games they offer.

The only one I found, and I truly hope this is it, is a free online game called "Glassez:"

http://www.bigfishgames.com/online-games/2231/glassez/index.html

If that isn't it, you will have to go to the help and support forums at bigfishgames.com:

http://forums.bigfishgames.com/forums/list.page

... or you can contact support directly for free on-line games at bigfishgames.com:

http://bigfishgames.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/bigfishgames.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php?p_sid=VkUyWujj

Hope this is it.

how many people are in this classroom (link)
What are you asking here?

How many people use Advicenators? About 50,000.

If you are asking us to read your mind, and tell you how many people you are sitting with, we don't do that here.

Have anyone ever taken the Teas Exam? I took the exam and was wondering about the results. How do u know if u have done well or if what the school (Columbus Technical College) is basing the scores on. Help!!!!!!!!!! (link)
Hi there,

It works like this:

You all, all the people applying for the school, take the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) exam. Then the tests are scored. Those people doing best on the TEAS exam will be accepted above those people who did less well on it.

Basically, if you did really bad, but everyone else did worse, you are in.

The TEAS exam just gives a percentile result. There isn't a pass or fail on the test itself you see, that is left up to the individual school.

So how do you understand or read the results of the TEAS exam?

How do you know if your scored well enough?

You don't. The people who gave you the test do.

The general rule, as I understand it, is that 70-80% is considered a reasonable score for the TEAS exam.

Basically, you will have to talk to Columbia Technical College about the results and see what they have to say about your scores on the Test of Essential Academic Skills exam.

Here is a great TEAS exam reference for you:

http://allnurses.com/forums/f198/help-teas-test-results-281588.html

... which also proves you aren't the only one having these questions about the TEAS exam. :-)

I hope you did well.

on scrapblog.com i made scrapblogs less than 20 pages. when i tried to buy it i ended up with all these pages at the end that were blank. what should i use to fill, or get rid of, them. here is the link to my scrapblog. the other one i need help with is titled 'mom'

Hi there,

I looked through the FAQ at scrapblog.com and found nothing helpful. Surely there is a reason that this is not working the way it should for you when you go to print your scrapblog!

How about using the contact form:

http://www.scrapblog.com/contactus/contact.aspx

... and selecting: "I found a bug!" from the drop-down menu?

... but only after you have tried the scrapblog.com help and support forum for your troubleshooting needs:

Thanks for introducing me to scrapblog! That is pretty cool.

I have a Pentax ME don't know the year.
The aperture metering system was not working, usually a sign of a dead battery so I changed the battery and it still doesn't work.
Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with it and if you do how much might it cost to fix it?
And/or, will it still take pictures with that not working? (link)
Hi there,

While I am not a Pentax camera repairman, I do have a few resources for you.

In my experience, general camera adjustment, dust removal, general internal camera body cleaning and light seal replacement service runs in the neighborhood of $50 to $100.

There is a camera repair place place that I have been told claims Pentax cameras are a specialty:

Garry's Camera Repair:

http://www.garryscamera.com/

... Once you get there:

Click repair list >> Pentax >> Manual Focus

There you will find a listing for the Pentax ME Super.

They list $50.00 plus shipping as a service fee.

This is pretty reasonable considering the work they perform for your Pentax ME super camera includes:

"Eliminating the original problem or defect, complete overhaul maintenance (shutter lubrication, shutter speed adjustment, meter calibration, light seal replacement)."

Note: Meter failure on the Pentax cameras is a fairly normal happening. Nothing they won't be able to deal with.

Just in case that doesn't suit you for some reason, you can head on over to:

The Classic Camera Repair Forum:

http://www.kyphoto.com/cgi-bin/forum/discus.cgi

... and talk to a number of enthusiasts who may carry and use your exact Pentax ME camera.

I hope this will yield what you need to resume the Pentax ME adventure. :-)

Well to be honest, I am not active here anymore. I browse around but I don't answer questions anymore. There are questions I don't want shown that ARE being shown. Causing a couple problems here and there hehe... So don't misunderstand, it's not the site at all... the site is great, I just would really appreciate it if my account could be cancelled :) (link)
Hello again,

I understand. Make me a list of the questions you don't want archived. All answers and questions are moved to the orphan's account when an account is deleted, and I wouldn't want problem causing questions shown forever. ;-)

Or, if it would fix the problem, I could just delete those questions and you could keep your account, if that would fix it.

Also, remember, unless you identified yourself in your question, which is against the rules for just this reason, then the questions are anonymous, and shouldn't cause problems. :-(

Lastly, many people take breaks from the site for years at a time. One user just returned after being inactive since 2005. :-)

Hope you aren't mad at me for trying to help you find a way to stay.

If you still want your account removed, send me a list of questions that should not be archived, and I will delete your account.

Thank you,

DN.

Yes, I'd like to cancel my account if you could please. Thanks. (link)
Hello there,

Please, if you wouldn't mind, tell me why you would like your account closed?

Is there anything we can do to help you stay on the site?

Thank you,

DN.

ok so i wanna have sex tonight.
but im supposed to get my period.
i wont have sex on my period cuz thats nasty.
but im asking like can i get my period while having sex? cuz that might also be awkward.
pleasee answer asap.
thankss!
(link)
Yes, you can start your period during sex. If you are due for it, sex will only help it squish out sooner, not slow it down.

okay so the other day i shaved down there and then this zit like thing appeared like right after i shaved. it really freaks me out, im like scared its something serious. like when i push on it it like goes away like a zit but then comes back. im legit shaking so can someone please just tell me if this is normal or if i should tell my mom like asap please. ah oh and im not sexually active, never have been so its not something like that (link)
Hello there,

Could be an ingrown hair, or just a plain old pimple. Ingrown hairs are very common when one shaves in certain places.

It seems that these days everyone has a different meaning for "sexually active" so please don't be offended, I am just putting this in there in case you are one of the people who think that only sexual intercourse makes you sexually active: Anyone touching that area with anything they have handled, or their fingers etc. can give you one or more of several STDs.

If you are completely untouched then the odds are in favor of an ingrown hair. We aren't doctors here, so if it really bothers you, you should have your mom take a look, or arrange a doctor's appointment.

Hope all is well in the end.

Can my computer (Win98) tell me the speed of the chip or do I have to decipher it from inside? (link)
Hi there,

No need to crack the case just because Windows 98 isn't very good about system information... There is a handy little utility called WCPUID:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=435

... WCPUID is free, small, and works well.

It lets you find CPU speed and other information on just about any version of windows.

Enjoy the free WCPUID download.

which canon is better the 7.5 one [sd750] ? or the 8.0 one? [sd1000] (link)
There are a few differences:

The Canon PowerShot sd1000 has an optical viewfinder, which is a big deal to me, where the Canon PowerShot sd750 does not.

The Canon PowerShot sd1000 is a smaller camera overall, so it has a larger screen and the camera itself is smaller. Quite an accomplishment.

Something else to consider: These aren't the current models. Very important.

Have a look at the new Canon PowerShot came models before you buy:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=113

For comparison, here is the official Canon PowerShot sd750:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=224&modelid=14919

... and the official Canon PowerShot sd1000:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=224&modelid=14901

Have a look at those, and the new ones before you decide.

Happy PowerShooting!

Hello there,

Apparently there aren't a lot of Daria fans here, at least not the hard core kind you are looking for.

With that in mind, I went hunting for a source that could help you with all your Daria needs. I found:

Daria Outpost:

http://www.outpost-daria.com/

... which has incredible Daria resources!

They even have transcripts of the Daria TV episodes!

http://www.outpost-daria.com/ts_ep407.html

As for the exact one you are after, I couldn't spare the time to read them all for you, but if you post on one, or all, of the Daria forums:

The Daria Shrine's Message Board:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/75787

The Paperpusher's Message Board:

http://www.thepaperpusher.net/forum/index.php

... surely someone will know what season and episode you are after.

If not, head to the episode guide here:

http://www.outpost-daria.com/episode_guide.html

Failing that, email the person running Daria Outpost and see what they might have to say.

Happy Daria hunting.

Hey :) Ok, i'm not looking to plagurize[sp?] this song, I swear ha ha I can't sing so yeah :b but I do think this is a really cool song, but I can't see what chords she is playing! Anyone with really good eyesight willing to take the time and answer my question? Thanks SO much!!! (link)

Open up the image with the url below (remove the stars):

h*ttp://*tinypic.com/view.php?pic=v8dflw&s=4

This is probably a very stupid question, but...
Based on this grade report, I have an 86.0 percent. Homework counts for 15% of our grade. If my teacher gives me a 16/20 on my next HW set, my grade will only go down about 0.2%, right? 0.4 at the very least? Thanks! (link)
Please resubmit the question without the asterisks in the link. There is no reason for that here.

Need to do a part file for a bottle on this program, anyone help me out?

A pop bottle, with regular dimentions. (link)
Hello there,

I know why you are having trouble finding resources on the web for Pro/Engineering, School Edition... Because it is Pro/Engineer, School Edition. :-) You didn't mention if it was the Pro Engineer WildFire 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 release, or something else, so your mileage may vary when working with Pro/Engineer part files or tutorials.

I don't have a ready made part file for you, nor do I have the program these days, but I can point you to the places you will find all the help in the world:

The Pro/Engineer help and support forum at MCADCentral is a great resource:

http://www.mcadcentral.com/proe/forum/default.asp

I don't know if it would help you to model starting from an existing bottle part file that isn't exactly the Pro/ENGINEER part file you hope to end up with, but it always help me to have a general guide to the shape, core and cavity design before I step into a project, CAD or otherwise. If you would like some pre-fabbed part designs for modeling bottles in Pro/Engineer, then follow this link:

http://www.mcadcentral.com/proe/files/gallery.asp

... and use the search feature with the keyword: "bottle" (no quotes.)

The one that has no preview image is a 1-liter bottle and may be your closest starting point.

If you are going to really go crazy with this, there is a book you might look into:

"Pro/ENGINEER Solutions and Plastic Design" By Norm Ladouceur, John McKeen

... which covers just about everything you could want to know about working with plastics in Pro/Engineer.

You can even preview the book at google books:

http://books.google.com/books?id=f4XxZeglZxUC

I hope you have fun with the project and learn bunches.

May I also say what a nice treat it is to see a young lady take an interest in engineering? So rare these days it seems.

Thanks for brightening my day,

DN.

There are a lot of people on this site I see asking questions that are pretty important, and a lot of answers that sadly don't always seem very helpful, so, me, Advocate, would like to invite anyone who wants help on any subject to shoot me an email at adviceforanyone@gmail.com - I'm a young woman with plenty of time on my hands, and I feel like I've got a lot of good solid advice to offer to a lot of people, especially other young people.

I look forwards to (hopefully) being able to help you out. (link)
Hi there,

This isn't how things work here. Believe me, when you have answered a few hundred questions, with good answers that is, your inbox will be overflowing. :-)

As for finding important questions, there is a list in the moderator forum where users who have a slightly higher commitment to helping are able to point each other towards the good questions.

Oh, and reading through the FAQ would be a good idea seeing as you are new. This will also tell you how to become a moderator.

Welcome aboard.

16/f

Well, Christmas is coming up, and my boyfriend is really into cutlery, and has a tiny knife collection.
I'd really like to make him a knife. Not buy, but make one. My problem is, I've never made a knife before, but I know there are tons of knife kits out there for beginners like myself. I would very much like to purchase a knife kit off the internet or in a store and use that and the instructions that come with it to build a knife for my boy.
My other problem is: I can't find one that I like. I know a bit about knives and blades and whatnot, and I would REALLY like to make him a knife with a damascus blade on it, it's both of our favorites.

Damascus blades look like this: http://www.mountainhollow.net/images/bowie%20vest%20capt.%20platt%20ironwood-damascus.JPG

Most kits have only steel blades, but I would really really like making one of damascus steel, not stainless.

I was wondering if any of you advicenators would know of a website or link I could use to locate a damascus blade kit. It would be really appreciated if the kit actually came with handle material and pivots and stuff. Also, I'd prefer it to be a fixed blade, not a folded blade. But either will do, beggars can't be choosers.

What I'm really asking, is for someone to please send me a link to a damascus blade knife kit that's not too expensive.
The prior stated criteria is preferred, but not necessary!
Thank you so much!

(link)
Hi there,

Damascus steel knife blades are very beautiful if done well, that is for sure. The secret is finding one you can afford that IS done well.

There is a lot of outright fraud in the Damascus steel blade market, so you really need to buy from someone trustworthy. Here is my suggestion for that person:

Rob Charlton of DAMASCUS-USA has good prices on blade blanks.

I wouldn't list it here because you said kits, but you also mentioned that stated criteria were preferred, not required, so here we go.

Really, this IS the go-to-guy for Damascus steel in the USA.

Here is his info:

Damascus-USA website:

http://www.damascususa.com/

Rob Charlton
DAMASCUS-USA
149 Deans Farm Rd
Tyner, NC 27980-9607
Phone: (252) 221-2010

This may not be exactly what you were looking for, but it is a good place to start. I would e-mail him, or better yet pick up the phone and tell him what you were after. He may be able to accommodate you in some way or point you to someone else he knows of who supplies a complete Damascus blade kit.

Now, this is what I am going to call the Damascus sense check:

If you want to make something for your boyfriend, how much are you willing to spend?

If you aren't willing to part with $200-300 dollars, you aren't very likely to end up with something nice.

If you are willing to spend the money, I urge you to look at the finished blades on the Damascus-USA website. There are some VERY fine knives there at a price that is less than you building and finishing a similar blade on your own. On top of this, the blade you end up with will not have the fit and quality that the finished knives have.

There are kits available from some famous Japanese Damascus knife makers, but they are rarely complete with grips. Here is an example:

http://www.japaneseknifedirect.com/ImaiSE-1300Series.html

... have a look towards the bottom of the page.

Please consider contacting the people who operate this site(Japanese Knife Direct:)

http://www.japaneseknifedirect.com/contact.html

... and asking what other kits they may have, or be able to point you to.

Another place to look would be forums for knife making enthusiasts:

only search advicenators.com

Just post a message like your question here, and see what answers might come your way.

I did find a couple of kits on ebay, and cheap at that, but I worry about the fact that they are rivet-less, the blades are, in my opinion, butt ugly and you would have the shipping time from India, whatever that would be. Here is a search link for you:

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=damascus+kit&_sacat=See-All-Categories

... just look down in the store items.

I found another place that sells everything you would need to do this on the cheap, get a reasonably decent looking end result and have everything you need come from one place:

Crazy Cow Trading Post: (No, really.)

http://www.crazycrow.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=841-000-000

... who supply an amazing variety of Damascus blades and knife making supplies.

The one thing I question here is the quality of the steel and what ability it might have to hold an edge.

Just as a note, the reason you rarely find grips included in a quality knife kit is a simple one: That is all you are expecting to do custom anyway. ;-) Think about it: If you aren't creating custom grips for your Damascus blade, then what would be the point in not having a skilled craftsman finish the knife?

I know you want to do something special for him, and that is very cool, but please look at some of the high quality finished knives on Damascus-USA once you figure out how much your Damascus knife kit will set you back, and see if you want to go the finished route.

Something like this:

http://www.damascususa.com/knife_pics/v10.html

... will likely last a lifetime, if that is what you are after.

I am guessing that is more info than you expected from Advicenators, but you just happened to ask the right guy. ;-)

DN.

I usually give advice here, but I have a question :)
When you edit an answer, does the person who's question you've answered(and edited)get a notification or something like that, telling them that you've edited the answer?

Thanks! (link)
No they don't. It is possible for the future, and is on the to-do list, but we have yet to figure out a way to keep people from abusing it to send zillions of notifications by editing over and over just to annoy someone.
