advice
Okay, I took peoples advice yesterday and stayed home... very good advice. Anyway, since all I ate yesterday were 2 pieces of toast with jam and I drank about 4oz of ginger ale and a few sips of gatorade, there's pretty much nothing for my body to reject and all I've done was dry heave (only twice, but still). Am I better off eating something and vomiting that up, or am I better off with dry heaves (or whatever it's called when nothing actually comes up but you still vomit)? I just wasn't sure if dry heaving is worse for you than actually throwing something up. Oh, and my mouth is dry and I want to drink something. I have 2 eight-ounce cans of ginger ale and I've got gatorade and water. I've always been taught ginger ale is best for the upset stomach. So my 2 questions are, which is worse, dry heaving or vomiting up something, and should I drink something even if I know I'll probably bring it back up? Thanks in advance.
in addition to dairy and oils, you should also avoid complex carbs like bread and potatoes for a few weeks. ease your way back onto foods. start with melon which is mostly water than work your way through the rest of the fruits. then veggies. oils. complex carbs. you should also be drinking a lot of gatorade for electrolytes that you're losing when you throw up. you most likely won't throw up the gatorade, but just in case, don't drink the red kind. you'll never drink it again if you do.
Okay, so I'm a cheerleader. For practice one day, I let one of my friends whos in a grade lower than me, borrow one of my shirts. My favorite american eagle shirt. She wore it to cheerleading, then brought it home to wash it. She didn't bring it in until like a week later and she put it in her locker. Something spilled in her locker and got all over my shirt. So she had to bring it home and wash it again. Then today, she wore it to school! I was so mad. I've mentioned to her a few times that I'd like the shirt back, but I haven't gotten it.
Should I be mad at her? How else can I hint to her that I want it back?
Thanks!!!
taking the shirt and wearing it is a sign of deep affection for it. This very same situation happened to me with my best friend. I lent him my favorite shirt to wear during a performance (which followed since I was the costumer for that show) and I got it back a month later. I went to his house to get it back after a while and he admitted that he really really liked it, too, because of the fit and design and because it smelled like me. Christmas is just around the corner and I'm planning on giving him the shirt for good because he found a lot of joy in it. It's the season of forgiveness, so buy her a shirt she'll like and get yours back. Don't hold the grudge or do something mean to her, life is too short.
Do all girls like chocolate. And if they do do the like Dark or Milk better?
milk chocolate is for pussies and whores. dark is where it's at.
how long does cement take to dry?
as the one before me said, different mixtures take different time to dry, but almost all of them are workable for sculpture in 36 hours. they're mostly dried out in 48 hours. curing can take several months. I worked a summer in cement/concrete/ceramic sculpture with an emphasis in cement, so do send me a follow-up with more details.
i hurt my knee snowboarding it was swollen up like a melon and really bruised, the doctor told me to stay off my knee until its comfortable to walk, i havnt really been doing that, and it still hurts when i walk but i just ignore it cuz it doesnt hurt enough to make my flinch, someone told me if i didnt stay off my knee and let it heal properly that next time i hurt it, it would be much worse and i could perminantly damage my knee, is that true? should i stay off my knee for the next few days
basically yes.
last year I broke one of my toes during the run of a show I had practiced four months for. right now, because it's winter, I have arthritic problems in that one area on my left foot because I kept dancing in the show through the pain and it got broken further when people stepped on it accidentally and when I put tons of pressure on it in my heels. stay off your knee. that show means nothing to me now. whatever you want to do will come back and you can do it some other time. we have all the time in the world.

I did ballet when I was younger && I had to quit because of a family issue. But now I want to start up agian and I would like to know if any of you guys are dancers and if you have any tips for me. Or know any sites I can go to to read up on it. Or personnal tips that you use?
You know, stuff you think beginners should know.
Much Thanks
I started tap this year. the first comment my teacher made on my tap dancing at my very first lesson was that I had completed about a year of work in a half-hour and that it was a really good idea to start late. If you start dance at 4 you'll stay that coordinated, which is not much. I started tap at 17 and I can do more advanced stuff than younger kids at the same level. my tip? just start.
im not sure if im a good singer or a bad singer. how can i tell without asking someone because then I'd get nervious. Also does anyone have any tips on how to be a good singer?
thanks
generally speaking, no one will believe you're good if you get nervous singing in front of them. the more confidence you have about the notes you sing the better you'll be received. from then you should work on them more specifically with a voice teacher or choir director. in choirs, you should never shy away from making mistakes the first time through a song. if you can't sing them loudly the director will not know how to fix them.
Hello, I am 6'4 295 pounds and 19 years old.
I really have just been sitting for the past few years gaining weight without really paying attention.. But as I realize how terrible it is for me to be 295 pounds at 19.
I need some good advice to take off the weight.
Also, what would be a target weight for someone of my height?
A little background :
I used to drink 12 packs of mountaindew every other day, have regular flavored taco chips at least 3 times a week and eat lots of white flour products. I stopped drinking soda about 7 months ago and have a can once or twice a month now.
I have cut out white flour within the last two months.
I have been a vegetarion all my life up until recently, Now I don't eat any animal products except for omega3 free range eggs.
I have freetime up the yinyang and am ready to do ANYTHING you have to suggest, I have a treadmill capable of upto 10MPH and a weight set with upto 300Lbs of weight already.
cut the eggs and join a vegan dieters group. you're not going to find serious advice here as a vegetarian, near vegan. you're only going to find a lot of people telling you to do crunches and to eat turkey and chicken breasts without skins which is not an option. and even though I'm a vegan I can't help you with weight loss tips. I've basically been the same weight the entire time I've been cutting out animal stuff. later on, down the road, I might be able to help you with low-fat vegan cooking because I cook for my parents who are losing weight because of it.
Hey. I've recently decided to go vegan. I'm new to all of this and I dont know what to buy in terms of food. I know they do not associate themselves with animal products at all. This is going to be a challenge for me because I like cheese. But for the animals' sake, I'll do it. So can anyone tell me what ingredients in foods, and makeups, etc. etc. I should be looking for. Also, a site that has vegan recepies on it would be a big help as well! Thanks Alot!
I'm a vegan.
I'm 17 years old. I'm 5'7'' and I weigh 150 pounds. I menstruate once a month and very rarely have cramps. I poop twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. My cholesterol is 128. I'm an A- student and I plan on going into costume design in college next year. I don't get acne and I'm rarely sick. I donate blood and the back of my state ID is signed. I'm also a vegan. That's how I'm still alive. I'm actually HEALTHY and a GOOD KID now that I'm a vegan. I eat right. I exercise. I can run around the block without getting winded. I'm one of the coolest people you'll ever meet and I'm not afraid to say it.
All the health problems I have are related to my weak stomach which was a direct result of consumption of heavy cheeses and dairy products as a child. Now that I'm vegan I can stomach ginger ale. Maybe one day I'll drink coke like everyone else. but whatev. it's not holding me back. I didn't become vegan and automatically die or have problems getting enough protein. I just kept right on being me. Everyone will try to talk to you out of it and say it's too hard and you won't like it, but it's really not. It's the easiest decision of my life. live cruelty-free? okay. can do. bring on the soymilk and agave nectar.
two books you absolutely need to read before you go vegan: vegan with a vengeance and vegan freak. vegan freak should answer a lot of questions and give you advice for dealing with omnivoric friends with dumb questions you probably once had. VWAV is the single greatest vegan cookbook for modern kids I've ever read. I've tried about 30 of the recipes and they're all fantastic. one was a flop, but I substituted and played around the entire time. it happens. some of the recipes are available through the post punk kitchen website (use google). vegan freak is also connected to a podcast/forum run by the authors (again, google).
finally, talk to me. ask me all the stupid questions you want. I've got a notifier up on my desktop to tell me when people do various things at places I frequent. I'm quick to respond if I'm near my computer. I really like vegans. I think of everyone as a vegan on the inside. we all want to do our part.
I went to watch some bands play tonight - and I made the mistake of attending the after party.
It ended up being between 15-20 people in one side of this duplex. When we originally decided to go, no one had alcohol and it was getting too late to buy anything. However, when I got there they had a few mostly empty bottles, but they were nearly empty from before. I don't think a single person there got drunk.
There was a noise complaint~
The police showed up, someone answered the door - then slammed it in the officers face. The person then proceeded to lock the doors, turn all the lights off, close the curtains and get everyone upstairs.
A 15 year old girl had to leave due to curfew, and since neither she or I drank, I decided to walk her out and see what the cop situation was outside. The police came up to us and the three officers asked us a few questions. They asked if we had been drinking in there - we said "no", they asked if we had been smoking pot in there - we said "no", they asked who owned the house, we gave them as much of an answer as we could - since they were already running the address trying to find the owner.
Then they asked how many people were in there, we said we didn't know most of the people in there, and we hadn't been there long. But we thought 7 or 8 people were still in there.
They ran the plates of all the cars parked outside, and they claimed to have seen a person holding a beer while they were looking through the windows. They took our word for it that we didn't drink, and they let us go without a breathalizer or a search. They just ran our ID's.
The cops eventually got inside of the house by contacting the owner of the house and getting permission to enter.
After that semi-long story, we get to the question:
Since kids were drinking inside (some/all of which were minors by a year or two.) but I wasn't. I left and gave the police all the compliance they asked for. Since i'm 18, and I was there - even though I didn't drink at all - Is there anything the police can do to me at this point?
since you were under 21, it can be assumed that you weren't the provider of the alcohol. if you were over 21 you would have been arrested for providing for a minor. but there's no worry for you.
Has anyone ever had a Pita Bread Sandwich? Or alteast knows what goes in it? If you know, it'd be a whole lot of help. thanks.
the only way to eat things in pita bread is with tons of tahini, garlic, kale (or spinach), and FALAFEL. you absolutely must try falafel. it's pretty much the shit.
I absolutely love to act. whenever we'd do something that needed acting, i'd always be first to raise my hand, and sometimes i'd fool around with it too for jokes and stuff. Well, I dont really have much experience, and I'm 13 years old. (and a girl.) My school only had chorus (which I did) till our intermediate school, 5th and 6th grade, which had drama club. i tryed out for drama club, and it had been my dream, ever since i saw the 2 plays my sister's grades perfomed when i was little to get into it. and for those two years in that school, i didnt even get a part! only chorus! now, maybe i could have stayed to learn some acting skills from some of the kids who were there or something.. but i was just so mad that i wasnt even given a chance. i mean, i've been told that i'm a really good singer, and i think im a really good one too, and i'd just like to have a shot at it. anyway, now im in the 7th grade and i finally got a part in our broadway production "oliver!" and im like.. a workhouse kid & part of fagin's gang or something. its not the biggest part ever, like nancy or something, but im okay with that. who knows, maybe when im older and if i get to become like some bigshot actress, i could like totally rub it in their faces. so.. anyway, how can i get more involved with like.. theater? also my cousin whos like 7 years old. she is such a character! like all our relatives think she should have been on that bill cosby show called "kids say the darnest things" because shes just hilarious and has a true kiddy heart. shes also a good actress and maybe if we could find a place (i live in nj) for her to like.. learn acting from, that would be great for her, especially since shes so young.
thanks for the help btw!
there's no skill in being a single character in a show. really. you always have the same style of acting in the show. as a chorus member or an ensemble character you have to remain flexible to be able to play a number of different characters to the same extent as everyone else who has a single character. you also remain open to playing a larger character if someone drops out of the show. you're also a guide to younger kids in the show and to less experienced kids who maybe can't handle all the singing or dancing.
in other words, suck it up. being "just a chorus member" is still awesome. I've never been more than an ensemble character, but I've always done it as best as possible and been an inspiration to the younger ones in the show and a leader to my section of the chorus (1st chair alto 1 represent!). maybe one day I'll have a single character to play, but I certainly hope not.
15/f. has anybody (ages 13-18) have used Proactive? I'd like to here your opinions on it, good or bad. my mom is considering getting it for me if it is good. i've heard that it clears up you acne really well, but it is really drying. so i'm thinking of using proactive along with another oil free lotion.
has anybody (again ages 13-18) used the Clinique acne products? i was looking for like a good acne regiman using the clinique products if the proactive stuff doesn't look too good. i know that clinique has 3-step programs...but i was looking for a 3-step program specially made for acne. i took the quiz thing on clinique and i'm a skin type III is that helps at all.
thanks so much you guys! this will really help me out.
I used clinique all through middle school and the early portion of high school. I'm super lazy so I barely ever used it, only when it got really bad because I never cared what I looked like.
when I did use it it worked really well. I don't remember what I used, but all that stuff is different on everyone. clinique is probably a lot less expensive as well. also, now I've been using avon products every other day with clinique stuff and I have to use less and less. your skin won't rely on it like it will with proactive and you can wean yourself off of it when your hormones stabilize to the point where you don't get acne. then again, I can count the number of times I've worn make-up and that's also a factor.
for almost everything my mom makes, she adds onions. i tell her all the time that i hate onions, and she says, "oh there won't be onions". sure enough, there are onions. she says "well they add flavor". and then i refuse to eat it because onions are gross. i used to pick them out but that gets too tedious.
what should i do?
really. onions rock if they're done right. they are terrible done wrong. be open to the food she cooks, but take some of the responsibility upon yourself. as someone who cooks for the family, I'll say that I cook what I want to eat and they absolutely have to put up with it. I try to be courteous and not make stuff normal people consider weird that I really really like if they're around. I almost never cook tofu even though it's one of my favorite foods. but if it's tofu one night then everyone has to eat the tofu. you cannot complain in my kitchen. my complaints about food landing me as the sole cook in the house. when I turned 17 I decided to go vegetarian which my family was initially very much against. so I cooked my own portions of everything which my parents quickly noticed was a whole lot better than what they were eating. now I'm a vegan and both my parents eat at least one vegan meal a day when I cook. my parents have acclimated and learned to accomodate me and their tastes. consider sitting your mom down like I initially did and asking her to consider your opinions and allow you to cook your own meals if she's going to use onions. cooking is not that difficult, but it's rather insulting to whoever cooked it to refuse food without tasting it even once. try to be in her position.
I don't know if this is like a MO thing or what. But my teachers tell me that if I don't do well on my senior project I won't graduate high school. This being because I will fail Government without the project and Government is a requried class. I was just wondering if this is true and they won't let me graduate on time if I happen to not do so well on the project...
it's highly likely. I know kids who have graduated late (and NOT walked with the class) because of big projects in required classes. about 7% of my class has to repeat junior english before graduating this year because they failed the big paper we have. sure, it could be just a motivator, but it depends on the school.
AND. only about 70% of the class graduates at my school. we're public as well.
i jammed my toe. its kind of crewkid now just a little and it hurts and its swollen. i am scared to pop it cuz it hurts so bad. so if i dont will it eventually go back to normal?
for toes other than the big toe, a doctor is not completely necessary in most cases. if you know a health care worker you can have them look at it and feel if there is some sort of break. they'll likely tell you to tape two of yours toes together until it heals to the point where it can be bent in both directions freely without hurting.
for the big toe, you must see a doctor. if it's broken and not reset it can cause you pain for life. this is basically true for all of the toes, but the big toe cannot be simply taped to another toe to heal. it needs a splint because it is a major bone.
perhaps you should have the school nurse or an EMT look at it and tell you if you will need to go to the doctor or not.
What is the difference beetween putting track peices in your hair and putting extensions in your hair? I've only gotten extensions before, i think at least. I know there has to be some difference, but what?
strangely, I know this one. tracks usually involve gluing the extra hair along lines on your head where it might naturally grow. extensions can be glued, but are usually braided or dreaded into the hair. tracks can also be braided, but the idea is that they're in completely natural places such as the line around the bottom of your head. usually they are also glued if they are braided. currently I'm costuming the show Macbeth and our Macbeth needs to have a combination of tracks and extensions dreaded into his hair so that his head can be easily picked up in a period fashion when he is executed. we're making a fake head cast around his real one for that part of the show.
ok so i dont know how common this is but my boobs are two different sizes. It's been that way for about 2 years now but i always figured they'd just even out. Im 14/f and one is a 32A n the other is a 34A. Is that bad or normal or anything?
holy cats! it's definitely not normal! you're only supposed to have ONE ribcage!
hi
i really need help finding articles on the seven wonders of the world. my teacher told us to find at least 7 scolary articles on our subject. i looked but couldent find articles only info from like wikipedia. this project is worth like half my grade and i would love any help at all.
thanxxx
honestly, your teacher is probably not looking for anything from the internet. you really need to get out there to find real articles. the library is a great place to start. every area has a public library with helpful librarians who can point you in the right direction.
can anyone summarize what happens in act 1 of the story "the crucible?" or please tell me where i can find a summary? thanks!
well. It's about this guy Orsino who lies around listening to music, pining away for the love of Lady Olivia. He cannot have her because she is sad for her dead brother. She won't get married because of it. Then there's this shipwreck. Viola is swept onto the shore. She figures her brother died in the shipwreck, so she tries to make do in the new place. A friendly sea captain tells her about Orsino’s courtship of Olivia, and Viola says that she wishes she could go to work in Olivia’s home. And Orsino is Viola's brother. But since Lady Olivia refuses to talk with any strangers, Viola can't work there. So she decides to disguise herself as a man, taking on the name of Cesario, and goes to work in the household of her brother, Orsino.
But Orsino is in love with Olivia, so Viola still has some contact with Olivia and she falls in love with her. Act one ends with Viola's murder of Orsino out of jealousy.
