Moop answered Sunday September 10 2006, 7:26 pm: well. It's about this guy Orsino who lies around listening to music, pining away for the love of Lady Olivia. He cannot have her because she is sad for her dead brother. She won't get married because of it. Then there's this shipwreck. Viola is swept onto the shore. She figures her brother died in the shipwreck, so she tries to make do in the new place. A friendly sea captain tells her about Orsino’s courtship of Olivia, and Viola says that she wishes she could go to work in Olivia’s home. And Orsino is Viola's brother. But since Lady Olivia refuses to talk with any strangers, Viola can't work there. So she decides to disguise herself as a man, taking on the name of Cesario, and goes to work in the household of her brother, Orsino.
But Orsino is in love with Olivia, so Viola still has some contact with Olivia and she falls in love with her. Act one ends with Viola's murder of Orsino out of jealousy. [ Moop's advice column | Ask Moop A Question ]
