I screwed up my knee playing softball about 2 years ago. And I walked back to my dorm room limping. Come to find out that I actually tore my ACL in my right knee. I was told that if I ever wanted to play sports again, I needed to have reconstructive surgery. So within the month of getting hurt and my surgery date, I needed to take care of my knee so it wouldnt get worse. I elevated it, iced it, and used crutches. If you don't do that, you could severely mess up your knee and eventually you will regret it. If I wouldn't have taken care of my knee during the time before my surgery, I was told I could have done more damage to it. They would have needed to do other things to my knee during surgery. So my advice is let it heal. Listen to your doctors. I know you don't want to because you want to snowboard, BUT there will be other times for you to go out and enjoy the snow.
I hope this helps!!

It's like making jelly. If you keep shaking and disturbing the jelly and refuse to let it settle down and solidify beautifully, you're gonna get a messed up jelly. Similarly, if you don't give your knee a break, your knee's not gonna heal properly. [ clarayow's advice column | Ask clarayow A Question ]

warning signal. Always a good idea to listen.

last year I broke one of my toes during the run of a show I had practiced four months for. right now, because it's winter, I have arthritic problems in that one area on my left foot because I kept dancing in the show through the pain and it got broken further when people stepped on it accidentally and when I put tons of pressure on it in my heels. stay off your knee. that show means nothing to me now. whatever you want to do will come back and you can do it some other time. we have all the time in the world. If I were you, I'd heed the warning and take the rest of the week off, or at least use a wheelchair. No one here is a proven medical doctor, so call your doctor ASAP.
