you could record you self and then listen or ask your friends what they think of this new singer. If they say they dont like it then dont tell them it's you. to get better you can take lessons or you can join your school choir.

generally speaking, no one will believe you're good if you get nervous singing in front of them. the more confidence you have about the notes you sing the better you'll be received. from then you should work on them more specifically with a voice teacher or choir director. in choirs, you should never shy away from making mistakes the first time through a song. if you can't sing them loudly the director will not know how to fix them.

Well you could record yourself singing... then you can see if you like it. If you record yourself, you don't have to worry about getting nervous, because you can just do it when you're by yourself. And if you mess up then you don't have to be embarrassed.
The main tip i can give you (that is actually working for me pretty well) is to just practice singing every day. The more you practice singing, the better you will be at it.
Another thing to remember is to sing using your diaphram. It makes the notes sound better. Also, I've heard that you should sing louder, instead of quietly. I also tried this, and it made my singing sound a lot better.
So yea, go and try it out. Remember that it takes patience and practice.
