omg
tomorrow i start swim for my schools swim team
and i am scared .
i think my boobs arent gonna be big
or im gonna look fat
help
Let me reassure you that every single girl on that team will feel the same way. And you know what? I doubt any of them will even notice the way you look because they'll be too worried about who might be looking at them.
Try and relax and remember what you're there for--fun exercise on a good team.
You can swim. You can move. Your body is amazing, and it is yours. Try to remember that.

5'4" 110-115 lbs.
i'm so grossed out by my body. i feel so fat all the time. how can I learn to love my body? or at least be okay with it?
Exercise can help.
I'm not talking about exercise for weight loss purposes. I'm talking about exercise for the joy of exercise. Find something you love to do. It will get your endorphins pumping which alone helps you to feel happier.
Really pay attention to how your body feels when you move, and all it can do for you. Think about it like this--your body is an amazing and sophisticated machine. You can move without thinking about it. You can run, you can feel your muscles pull, it's incredible. If you can focus on what your body can do, it might help.
Find clothing that is flattering. Even though you are, if anything, underweight, clothing can still make a huge difference. Find things you love to wear and that make you feel good.
Pamper yourself. Really take care of your body. Use a lotion and bodywash that you love. Feed it well, with fruits and vegetables, and pay attention to how it responds.
I know it's easier said than done. I'm suffering with many of the same issues, but even just typing this out was a good reminder to ME. So I have to thank you for that.
You might want to try one other thing--asking yourself what you would say if a friend asked you this question. Sometimes it's easier to see something from another perspective--it's less personal somehow, and you can be more impartial, even if you know you're tricking your brain a little bit.

I'm trying to find something outside of just going to school.I don't like the social aspect of it and I hate all of my teacher's methods. In fact,I'd feel better just teaching myself.Other than dropping out or being homeschooled, what are some alternatives?
Correspondence courses are another way to do it. Due to illness, that's what I'm taking--but be forewarned, unless you're really good at keeping yourself motivated, they're not the way to go. Add that to the fact that they're WAY harder than regular school courses, and make your decision accordingly.
Correspondence courses have the reputation of being easy. They're not. Trust me.

ok so i just watched teh movie Elephant and umm yeah a little confused right now it was kind a werid movie but i just wanted some other opinions on the movie like basically what you thought about the movei if you've seen it obviously and dont worry you have your own opinion so just say what you thought please and thankyou in advance
Personally, I loved it. It was very different from the typical movies you see, and it was very unpretentious. It told a story without judgment or any particular spin. It was real. That's what was terrifying about it--it could have taken place in any school. It wasn't dramatized, because it didn't need to be. It was what it was.

for my 16th birthday i was thinking of going on a trail ride on horseback with my best friend. it is going to be just the two of us and the guide. it might be raining but my friend and i dont mind. for how long should i get the trail ride for? 1.5 hours or 2 hours? i dont want it to be too short but i dont want it to be too long either becuase i dont want us to get bored. we will be mostly walking the horses, but we might canter or trot once in a while, so in your answer dont worry weather the horses will be tired. thanks!!!
It depends on if you're used to riding.
If you've never ridden before, or don't ride on a regular basis, you're going to be pretty sore after an hour and a half. If you're experienced, well, you'd probably already know what you wanted to do.
So, I'd go with the 1.5.

why do you think people can be cruel to those they love the most?
Fear.
They're scared of being loved, or of being hurt, or of losing someone. That's the number one factor, in my experience.
Ignorance is another--if you don't realise how cruel you're being, it's easier to hurt someone.
I really don't know of any other reasons.

Hi, are there any medications, preferrably pills that can get rid of stress/depression & make you happier? I mean real medications, like from the doctor. Also, do the pills actually work, and you feel less depressed, or what goes on?
Yes and yes.
I've been on anti-depressants for about five years now, and they've helped me immensely. Thanks to them, I can function. I don't feel like just crying all the time. I can get out of bed.
Mind you, if you're just stressed, I would hope the doctor wouldn't prescribe them. If you genuinely feel you suffer from depression, then yes, they are an option.
It might take awhile to find the right ones, and their effects might eventually wear off. I've changed mine and changed the dose numerous times, and it's a pain, but it's worth it.
If you show signs of depression, you should talk to your doctor. He or she might just suggest therapy, or might prescribe pills. But I certainly can't do much more than tell you what I have.
If you have any other questions, though, I'd be happy to try and tackle them. I'm pretty open about my depression and everything concerning it, so don't be afraid of asking anything too personal.

i have been a veggatarien for about 2 years now
i forget the vitamin/minal/nutrent is called! but it helps make your body make red blood cells
its found in meat, wich i strictly will never eat unless its due to major health issues (go animal activestt!)
i take vitimans that give me the nutreats needed, but im worred about something
i havent started my period yet, this isnt what im worried about but im afraid once i do, that all those extra red blood cells i need is gunna be taken away by periods. i know in alot of older woman when this occors they can get...i think its something like osteosarcoma?? but least i dont eat meat its going to make my chances highr!! =[
im really worried! i mean if i really have to i will eat meat again but....i dont know what else to do! i afraid also of lacking other nutreants, i have a healthy diet and all, its just i barly get any zink (i think thats what makes red blood cells??) as it is and then when my period comes, its gunna be even worse!! and my bones and me will be unhealthy and weak.
im not a vegan so i still eat/drink organic milk and eggs if that helps!

I believe you're thinking of Iron, and you're right, it is important.
You should probably talk to your doctor about it, and possibly a nutritionist. The nutritionist can also examine what you're eating to make sure you're not missing out on anything else.
If you're not already taking one, I'd suggest a daily multivitamin. It will supplement what you're eating and help you get the nutrients you might be missing.
Your doctor might recommend iron supplements as well, or give you a quick blood test to check your levels.
It's good that you're thinking about your health. That will go a long way.

Sorry if this isn't in the right category. I wasn't quite sure which one to put it in.
Okay so here's the deal. I got in a huge fight with my dad (we always fight and he's an alcoholic) right before going to my friend's party. Well, everybody knows what happens at highschoool parties: everybody get's drunk and whatever. Well, I was really upset about the fight I got into with my dad and at the party i decided to drink A LOT(which isn't good because the whole reason why I was drinking was to forget about my alcoholic dad and I don't want to turn out like him) and i usually don't drink too much at parties, maybe get a little tipsy but never over the top piss drunk. Well, this time I did. I passed out on the couch not too far into the night and woke up the next morning naked on the floor with my clothes scattered around the house. I don't remember what happened, what I did, what I didn't do, and I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO scared that something could have happened. This is a huge problem because there are so many things that could happen. I could've had sex with somebody and gotten pregnant or have an STD or something. I don't know.... And if something happened things with my boyfriend are shot to hell which REALLY isn't good because he's the only person i can talk to about anything and I love him and I don't want to lose him... I wish I could take back that night. I don't know what to do. This stress is killing me. HELP.
You need to get yourself to a doctor.
You may very well have been raped. Did you wake up in any pain? If you were a virgin and felt no pain, I would be inclined to doubt that anything of that sort happened, but regardless, waking up without your clothes is an indication of something that perhaps went very wrong.
This is a tough, tough lesson. Don't be too hard on yourself. Don't let it happen again, but take care of yourself. Your doctor can tell you what action you need to take aside from STD tests, and possibly a pregnancy test. He or she can also suggest therapy, if he/she thinks it's a good idea.
I think you need to be honest with your boyfriend. Ultimately that much is up to you, but chances are good that he'll find out eventually anyway.
I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope you can get the medical help you need, and if that involves counselling, please go into it with an open mind.
Be safe. Take care.

Hi, I've been riding english for about 5 years, but i still don't know what a 'leg yield' is? Can someone please explain?
To add a little to what Isis said, the horse isn't actually entirely straight. You should have a slight bend away from the direction of sideways movement. If you bend into the movement, you will be riding something more similar to a half-pass, although it won't be a true half-pass.
If you want to try one, assuming you're in a dressage sized arena, turn and walk up the quarter line (as if to ride a ten metre circle at A or C). Straighten your horse, then with your inside leg, create a soft inside bend. Keep your right leg at the girth, steady to control the rhythm, and with your left leg slightly behind the girth, push gently against the horse's side with your calf. Use your outside rein to keep from going too rapidly to the side--it should take you at least the length of the arena to leg yield back to the rail.
I love dressage, and it's good to see another horse lover!

Okay Im 15/f and I weight about 192 pounds. Im about 5'6 r 7.I have lots of muscles I guess.
But I want to lose weight and quickly. Ever since I was 11 i was chubby. Its has just gotten worse in my opinion. I want to excercise but I have no motivation and I don't run becuase, Im afraid of what people might think seeing me run. What do I do I really need help and no one I know can help me!!
Guess what--no one's going to be looking at you.
Seriously. I get self-conscious too when I go walking (and I plan on starting to jog in the spring, if I'm healthy enough), but then I remind myself that the majority of the people I see are probably plagued with the same insecurities, or they're just too busy paying attention to the scenery.
Start with even just five minutes. You might hate it at first. I hated walking at first. But now I LOVE it. I love the way my body feels when it moves. I love the endorphins. I love being out in the fresh air. And that helps motivate me.
If you have an iPod or mp3 player and you live in a safe area, try taking that with you. You can play music, or do what I do, and play an audio book. You can get some classics free at http://librivox.org. They're all public domain, so no Harry Potter or anything like that, but it's a perfect chance to "read" something you might not otherwise, and it's good distraction if you want it.
Watch what you eat, but don't get obsessive. Vegetables and fruits are great, and they fill you up. Eat whole grains instead of processed foods. Stay away from junk food most of the time, and try and find substitutes (I just found Crispy Minis that taste almost exactly like Doritos, but they only have 60 calories for 8 of them).
Keep at it. Tell yourself that after five or ten minutes, if you still don't want to be exercising, you'll come home. Chances are, you'll stick to it.
Be healthy. Stay safe.

I was wondering if someone knew the exact website I can go to to download it.
It was so I could change eye colors and ect.
It was GIMP environmental or something.
thanks in advance

I don't know which operating system you have, so you'll have to take it from there, but it's pretty self-explanatory.

I have always been so scared of needles. I have a mild blood condition so I've had to get blood taken a few times in my life. That and shots, I do not remember ever cooperating with the doctor getting it done. Today I had to get a booster shot at the doctor's, which I honestly didn't feel at all... but when I heard I had to get one I was freaking out inside. I hold in all my fear until I see the needle, then I am just completely overcome by fear and I burst into tears. I refused to get a shot today until my mom walked out of the room embarassed and I felt bad so I did it. When I get blood taken I stall with the nurses for as long as I can. It's not the pain that bothers me, but I just can't handle it. I don't think I was ever traumatized or I would remember it pretty clearly, correct? My mom always gets mad at me and says I embarass her when I do this, but I can't help it. Today she was angry at me and I didn't know what to tell her. How can I get over this, or at least explain this to her so she understands it, if I don't even understand it myself?
I can sympathise; I have major problems with needles.
I think you need to really identify what's going on. Are you afraid that you'll pass out? Are you afraid that you'll get upset because you have before, and that in and of itself gets you upset? Or do you just feel sick with no obvious reason.
There are remedies to any situation. If you're scared you'll pass out, ask if you can lie down. If you get really stressed because you think the doctor will mess up, ask if he can go slowly. If you feel sick, try and breathe through it.
The first and biggest step is to really analyse what is going through your head. The next step is to find rational solutions.
I have/had major problems with getting blood tests even though I do so frequently. I would almost pass out, or be sick, or both. Eventually, I decided that I simply needed to lie down to have it done. We arranged it, I can do that now, and it's a lot easier. I've even managed it sitting up a few times, although the bed's there if I need it (and one time, I did). It's still not easy, but it's easier--gradual conditioning, and finding practical solutions for the basics.
I don't know if that's much help. But I certainly feel your pain.

any tips on how to write a hook for the first sentence of any essay?
Generally, it's the last thing I do.
It really depends on how formal the essay is. If it's informal, a question or joke can work. If it's formal, keep it simple--if it's a persuasive essay, state your point of view in a straight-forward, firm way, for example:
Every man and every woman has the right to get married. It is imperative that we do not deny them this right.
It doesn't have to be as much of a hook, but it should be to the point, and strongly worded. Then, of course, you can launch into your thesis statement . . .
Yeah, I'm a bit of an English dork.

Okay im convinced im depressed but i wanna go to the doctors and my parents wont take me... i dont know what there thinking but can un treated depression damage something..?
I dont know how to get my parents to take me someone plzz help me.
Could you talk to a teacher or a guidance counsellor at your school? They might be able to offer some moral support and even talk to your parents--maybe by talking to someone else, your parents will realise how serious things are for you.
You say you're convinced you're depressed. I thought that was an interesting choice of words--not what I would normally see. I don't really know what it indicates, but I thought I would make note of it.
Untreated depression can worsen and affect your daily life. It can't in and of itself damage you physically, but it can impact your sleep, your energy, your motivation, your ability to concentrate, the way you feel about yourself, and more.
Please don't give up. If you genuinely believe you're depressed, don't settle. Be persistent about your health and hopefully your parents will take you seriously.

Well, one of my online friends advised me to take the EAT-26 test. I took it and I scored a 45. Even though I'm overweight, my weight sluctuates between 20-25 pounds. But supposedly, if you score about a 20, you should seek some help. Yea..right. Like anyone will believe I have an eating disorder.
And lately, I've just been feeling depressed and deprived of all life. I usually don't feel like this..I just think it's the fact of my weight. But I've even had the thoughts of killing myself lately. I don't know. Everything just seems wrong. Any suggestions on how to feel somewhat better?
If you scored above 20 on the EAT-26 test, you have a problem with food.
Being overweight does not mean you don't have an eating disorder. You could have binge eating disorder, or you could have EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). You might be a chronic overeater.
The fact that you're depressed further adds to my concern.
I think you should talk to someone, about how you feel, and your issues with food. Just because you're not stick thin does not mean you don't have an eating disorder, and the sooner you get treatment, the better.
Please take care of yourself, and consider talking to your doctor and getting the help you need.

What is that band that women wear around their legs called? The cartoon character Betty Boop wears one with a heart. What's the purpose of it?
I suspect you mean a garter. Years ago, they were used to hold up stockings. Some women still use them, and some men consider them particularly sexy.

ok so i had like a bunch of 5's after giving advice and then my rating was a 4.79
so then i got another five & it dropped right to a 4.8
what happened???
4.8 is higher than 4.79. Chances are, you reached a point where it would round up.

Go see your doctor. Infections in your cartilage can be serious if untreated--they can cause it to collapse. Worst case scenario, if you go see your doctor, you leave with a red face from being embarrassed. ;0) But I doubt that'll happen.
Better to be safe than sorry. Whatever you do, however, don't just take the ring out and hope it goes away--right now, the infection (if it's that) can drain, but if it closes over because you don't leave the ring in, it could be even more trouble.

My friend Monique has a lot of clothes (which are beatiful). She lives with her mom. And her mom does compliment her a lot (just not every day) on how beatiful Moniques clothes are. This morning Monique was wearing a lime green sweater and her mom told that she loved the sweater. Monique started to wonder why her mother didnt tell her that the sweater she wore yesterday was beautiful. So she asked her mother; why didnt you say my sweater yesterday was beautiful. Her mother said; Monique stop being insecure. It is like if you said to me gee mom you look good today, I wouldnt think you did not think I looked good yesterday; MY QUESTION: DO YOU THINK MONIQUE IS OVERREACTING.
Monique is over-reacting. Her mom can't tell her how lovely she looks every day or it would lose its value. Maybe she really liked the lime green sweater.
I think Monique is too hard on herself. She should be happy her mom loves her so much and try and focus on that, not on what her mother isn't saying. :0)
