Well, one of my online friends advised me to take the EAT-26 test. I took it and I scored a 45. Even though I'm overweight, my weight sluctuates between 20-25 pounds. But supposedly, if you score about a 20, you should seek some help. Yea..right. Like anyone will believe I have an eating disorder.
And lately, I've just been feeling depressed and deprived of all life. I usually don't feel like this..I just think it's the fact of my weight. But I've even had the thoughts of killing myself lately. I don't know. Everything just seems wrong. Any suggestions on how to feel somewhat better?
Being overweight does not mean you don't have an eating disorder. You could have binge eating disorder, or you could have EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). You might be a chronic overeater.
The fact that you're depressed further adds to my concern.
I think you should talk to someone, about how you feel, and your issues with food. Just because you're not stick thin does not mean you don't have an eating disorder, and the sooner you get treatment, the better.
sabrinax answered Monday February 19 2007, 9:04 am: i have the same problem as you, as i am also overweight. i get my bad days but never thoughts of killing myself. has anything else been happening in your life that is causing your depression? it might be your weight and other things going on which is causing you to be upset about this. if you ever have the slightest feeling that something bad will happen (suicide, hurting yourself, etc) then seek help immediately. if you feel this right now then talk to a school guidance counselor, your parents, or a psychologist (sp?)
for feeling better, friends always help me. go out shopping with your friends (dont go clothes shopping if you have trouble finding clothes because it will make you upset, believe me) throw a party, dance, anything basically with your friends. this might sound weird, but just ask yourself "so what do i want to do now?" and you'll find the thing that will make you the happiest to do at that moment
if you have a very close friend that you can ABSOLUTELY trust, talk to them about this, because usually your peers are the ones who can understand you the most if they know you enough. [ sabrinax's advice column | Ask sabrinax A Question ]
