advice

there is a dance coming up at my school. i am against going but i may go with the girls. it is "semiformal" and i HATE wearing dresses and/or heels. i am really conservative so i don't want to show clevage or the dress be too tight or short. does anyone have any suggestions where i should get something to wear or what type of dress or skirt i should wear. can someone give me a good outfit with a skirt?? the dance is january 28. i will not be dancing so that may affect it. would a knee length black skirt and black boots (up to my knee) be ok? i kinda have my own fashion style. can someone please help?? my crush (who is a year younger) will be there so guys - what would you want to see a girl in at a dance (just something to catch his eye)?? thanks in advance...i'll rate high! :):)

I think like a cute sweater and tea length skirt with flats would be cute. Kinda boho. Don't plan to not dance. You may change your mind once you actually get there. Guys pretty much want to see you looking confident, in something that does show some cleavage and skin, but don't dress to please them.

what do 13 and 14 year old guys look for in a girl and relationship? i am fairly pretty, good at sports, smart, and friendly, but i can't seem to get a boyfriend! what do you guys look for?

From a girl's standpoint, I don't think that there's anything you can really do to make a guy like you. Assuming you're in middle school, I wouldn't be so concerned until at least yor sophmore year of high school.

Hey guys! I'm 13 years old (almost 14) and I am in 8th grade. Next year, (which is not too far away) I will be in high school (freshman). For those of you IN ninth grade or over, does it suck? It scares me because I will be going to a school with 17 and 18 year olds and I'll be only 14 when I go to high school! Is it scary to go to high school? I've heard so many bad things about high school... the boys are the worst... I could probably survive in an all girls school because boys that I klnow are just mean except a few. I'm really scared knowing that I will be in high school! Can anyone give me some comforting advice to help me feel better because everyday, I get scareder knowing that another day is past and I'm that much closer to high school? I'm just scared... can anyone help me... seriously! I don't want sarcasm or rudeness in yall's answers. I'm just looking for a little comfort... Thanks!

Wow. I was so scared too. Well, not really scared, but anxious. Middle school was fun, but looking back it was so minute in the grand scheme of things. I am a freshman in high school now, and the guys are more mature, like some will open doors for girls and stuff, which is so sweet :) But getting back on track, everyone in general is more mature. Like I don't hear as many rumors about people compared to middle school, and everyone knows (for the most part), that if you tell someone something, you told theem for a reason, and that they shouldn't like post it in a blog or something. Many high schools are a combination of more than one middle school, so it's a chance to sstart over, per se. The boys are what make my classes fun, so I wouldn't EVER think for a second about going to an all-girls school. I hope I helped you, and please don't be scared, it's an irrational fear; one that you don't really need.

I know that to be a great singer you need a voice coach, but about how much can you do without a voice coach. I'm in an Advanced Choir, and I learn a lot there, but I can't afford more than that?

"I know that to be a great singer you need a voice coach..." is the most untrue statement I have EVER heard. So many people succeed without ever having a voice lesson. You already get voice lessons in choir. Do you guys ever warm up (like singing do mi sol mi do or la la la la la or something to that effect)? If so, ask you teacher if you can tape it and sing to that at home. That is all a vocal coach really does. Trust me. I have been in choir my entire life, and if you have any more questions, please, please drop them in my inbox.

I too live in CA and I'm not sure about prices, that varies, but you either need to tell (not get permision, tell) one of your parents/guardians or you don't needd to tell at all. I'm assuming you are like 13-ish, and you need to find out how you'll get there if you don't tell a parent though.

I was just doing a little christmas present pondering to tell my parents what i want and i came to a question. for along time now ive wanted the ipod mini...but now my friends tell me theyre no longer selling them..only the new ipod nano or more advanced/expensive crap. but does anyone know if this is true?
also...just to randomly throw this out there...whats on you guys' xmas list this year? lol. i cant think of anything to ask for...anything would be helpful and i PROMISE ill rate fives to everyone except the smart alecs.

From what I have heard, iPod minis are no longer being made by Apple. I may stand corrected. The iPod nano is the same thing but much thinner and in either black or white.

I actually don't celebrate Christmas, but on my Chanukah list this year is a digital camera and guitar.

My birthday is between Christmas and New Year's and during Chanukah, so my birthday presents count for Chanukah, so I don't have a list. Money and gift cards are always appreciated by me.

Well christmas is coming up and i think i know what im doing for my Girlfriend, if you have read my past questions, i'm doing this thing, i get a vase with 11 roses in it, and one glass rose in it. And a card on it that says "when the last rose dies is when i will stop loving you" Hence... a glass rose wont die. Ok well see I am a 13/f and my dad like hits me all the time with like eather a wooden stick or his hands or whatever he has in reach and it usually leaves bruises.....and like he always tells me when he does it that I could never call the police and get him in trouble because he will just say that it's his way of "punishing me". And like I always ask him why doesnt he just ground me or something else and he always says that he thinks this will work better.....but I really don't think it does. What should I doo?? Is this considered abuse or not??

is there any ways i can get motivated to write? i don't know.. my boyfriend told me..that my writing would get graded an F. umm yea. that really hurt..and now it's bothering me. i know my grammer sucks...but that really messed me up..now my authors block is lasting longer than usual.
