So I kind of have a problem with saying the wrong words at the wrong time...like, when something surprising happens to me I usually react by swearing or saying "Jesus Christ!" I know I really shouldn't be swearing OR saying Jesus Christ in vain but I can't help it! Plus, I'd get in trouble if a teacher or whatever heard me swearing. How can I like, stop myself from doing that!? What other words can I say instead? I don't wanna insult people, but it's just my reactions to things. Any suggestions? (link)
To remind yourself, you could have something that you can feel at all times and change it's location on your body... Like a ring on a different finger every day, or a penny in a different shoe. I'm glad that you're trying to change this habit. To say things that aren't offensive, just say something appropriate to the occasion. Like if something startles you badly, don't cuss- just tell the person they scared you. Or if something is really cool, whistle or say wow instead. Always keep it in the back of your mind to find alternate words or not cuss. What is your reason? Don't want to set a bad example? Don't want to offend someone? Remeember your reason. Good luck with your change!

I just got off of school. Are there any songs that talk about summer and summer vacation?

I found this on CNN.com on

Best summer songs
By Jamie Allen
CNN

(CNN) - What are some of the greatest summer songs of all time? We asked colleagues and staffers to offer their selections. Here's a look at some of what they chose.

"Born To Run," Bruce Springsteen -- Springsteen rose to national success with this song, and although it didn't come out until the fall of 1975, its lyrics seem to capture that nebulous summer freedom of open highways so often associated with youth.

"Boys of Summer," Don Henley -- Though the title alludes to sport, Henley's sport in this 1984 song is pining over a lost love of summers past. It is perhaps his best-known tune as a solo artist.

"Brown-Eyed Girl," Van Morrison -- Morrison has evolved in many different directions, but 1967's "Brown Eyed Girl" seems the classic summer favorite, replete with dreams of a former carefree affair, and a chorus without words, only "sha la las."

"California Girls," the Beach Boys -- Sure, the Beach Boys have several summer favorites, but "California Girls" is an American tribute to the art of ogling at the beach.

"Dancing in the Streets," Martha & the Vandellas -- Is there a better beginning to a summer song than "Calling out around the world, are you ready for a brand new beat/ Summer's here and the time is right for dancing in the street?" The 1964 hit captures the exuberance of the dawn of summer.

"Groovin'," the Young Rascals -- A summer night, nothing to do, except spend it with your lover: "Groovin'" is that laid-back anthem to summer's porch-swing pleasures.

"Hot Fun in the Summertime," Sly and the Family Stone -- Sly's 1969 hit was both a summer classic and an expression of its time: from tight harmonies and joyously sung lyrics to veiled references to the "long, hot summers" of riots just past.

"I Can See Clearly Now," Johnny Nash -- This song spent four weeks at the top of U.S. charts in 1972. It's an accepted cliché to play this after a summer storm rolls through.

"In the Summertime," Mungo Jerry -- Mungo Jerry only had one big hit, but they managed to bottle summer's fun with their skiffle "In the Summertime." It rode charts for most of the summer of 1970.

"Let's Go Crazy," Prince -- This cut from 1984's "Purple Rain" offers an alternative to just lazing around all summer. "Let's Go Crazy" is the type of song required at all summer weddings.

"Locomotion," Little Eva -- What would summer be without a new dance? The singer was a babysitter for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin when they penned this song, based on a dance Eva liked to do. Eva also sang on the demo, which was eventually released on the radio in 1962, when it hit No. 1.

"Low Rider," War -- If you're cruising to the beach, it's practically a law in some states to have this playing on your radio. Certainly, it makes you look that much cooler in your new sunglasses, that murky Lee Oskar harmonica in the background.

"Master Blaster," Stevie Wonder -- Wonder's 1980 tribute to Bob Marley comes complete with a seductive reggae groove that puts you in mind of a steamy summer festival -- or a steamy summer romance. No wonder the album it came from was titled "Hotter Than July."

"Rock Lobster," the B-52s -- If your summer party is lame, throw on "Rock Lobster." Someone will hopefully feel the need to get up and dance to this goofy, '60s inspired hit.

"Saturday in the Park," Chicago -- It was 1972 when this song came out, but anyone who goes to the park today can relate to the images: "a man selling ice cream, singing Italian songs."

"School's Out," Alice Cooper -- If you've ever ridden a school bus, you must have heard this tune blasting from a radio on the last day of school.

"Summer in the City," the Lovin' Spoonful -- Released in 1966, a glorious year in rock music: The Beatles gave us "Revolver," the Beach Boys gave us "Pet Sounds." The Lovin' Spoonful's contribution remains "hotter than a match head."

"Summertime," DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince -- In 1991, this song unleashed Will Smith and his friendly-guy personality on the world. Entertainment has never been the same.

"Under the Boardwalk," the Drifters -- If ever a song conjured images of summer, this 1964 smash is it. Sex, the smell of boardwalk food, the sea, and a forever love -- what more does a person need?

"Walking on Sunshine," Katrina and the Waves -- This 1985 song is so uplifting, it's still regularly used by Hollywood to mark happy moments in movies. Clean the house to this song, and it goes by all the quicker.

"Wipeout," the Surfaris -- Even if you've never surfed, you get the feeling of what it must be like with this 1963 hit. Wailing guitars, wild drums, and one crazy guy laughing "Wipeout."

I have a mac. For some odd reason, whenever I go onto Youtube, there is no sound. But any alerts I get still make a sound. I can even hear other websites. It just started today. What's up?? (link)
Okay guys, never mind... I solved the problemo. I won't tell you what it was because it was a stupid little mistake.

(P.S. Not getting rid of the mac!)

This is a question for teenage girls. My daughter and I have always been very close. She's always been very open with me and willing to share things about school, friends, boys, etc. Now that she's 13, though, things have changed some. Sometimes I can tell she's upset about something, but when I ask her what's wrong, she doesn't want to talk about it. I realize this is normal, that she wants some privacy and doesn't need her mom butting in on everything. But I also know it sometimes helps to talk about things instead of keeping them inside. I want her to know that I'm here for her and that she can tell me anything. Should I keep trying to get her to talk, or should I just leave her alone and hope she'll open up if she needs me? (link)
I'm glad that you realize that this is normal. There really isn't a way to control this, no matter how much we may want to. The best way is to show her the things you want to tell her. Show her you'll always be there by BEING THERE. Show her you love her every day. Maybe entrust her with something, a secret or a responsibility. But realize that it really is up to her. Encourage her to keep a journal, and do not ever intrude on her privacy. Let her have her own place where she can be safe with her feelings, and she may open up to you. I hope all works out well!

I just got braces 2 weeks ago and i ate macas (mcdonalds) yesterday, my friends who have braces say that eating macas isnt good for you if you have braces... is this true? i mean how does mcdonalds effect the braces?

All information given will be helpful thank you (link)
Mickey D's (another nickname for McDonald's) Isn't really good food for anyone. But it isn't really particularly worse if you have braces. Just keep your teeth clean, especially if you've had any soda pop... Follow what the orthodontist said and you should be fine.

my friend's phone broke, and her parents wont get her a new one but her service is already paid for the rest of the year.

i was wondering if anybody here knows of a website where a 13 year old could get a free phone? for tmobile. preferably a cute one but anything works.

but i would have it shipped to her house as a suprise and so if this could be a website that dosent send mass advertisement mail that would be awesome thank ya so much! (link)
You could look at teenfreeway.com. They have lots of freebies and maybe you can find a cellphone. That would be a sweet surprise!

i have an addiction to gum. i buy about five packs a week and if i dont have gum i get really antsy. i know this sounds stupid but is chewing about 3-4 pieces of gum a day bad for you in any way if you dont swallow it? (link)
I'd pretty much go with what the other person said. Too much gum? Phah. But don't use it as a substitute for brushing your teeth- some people do that.

Oh, and don't believe the myth that it takes seven years to digest gum. Not true. It does take a little longer and it barely has any good nutrients.

I think that gum would be a good way to get your antsiness under control, But try to limit your gum consumption as much as you can. Just switch at meals... get long- lasting flavors to help . Good luck!

ok well... I was thinking of having an emo hairstyle done over the summer... I have brown/dark brown hair and it shows up either black or reeeally dark brown in pictures. It is american and light and airy towards the ends but at the top kinda heavy. i always have little wild indiviual hairs sticking out. i dont normally straighten it but im willing to. the only place i can get my hair cut is walmart sooo.. my school doesnt allow dying of hair.. one time i dyed it black but it kinda fell out.. not all of it but a good amount... i had it treated with protein and im all better now... i have a face between circular and oval. i have brown eyes. i need a cool emo hairstyle that is different edged with but i dont want it at my shoulders IF POSSIBLE. maybe a little longer... and i dont want my face looking round! please! try ur best! thank you in advance *i love u people!* (link)
One thing you could do is to have choppy layers with a few strands as short as your cheekbone to frame your face. This way, you can still keep it as long as you want. There's also the bangs thing... you can keep your hair long, but have long bangs go mostly across your forehead and halfway over one eye. Good Luck!

when i try and scrunch my hair, i need to use a lot of hair spray to keep in curlyish. It looks nice but doesnt feel nice. My hair in naturally on the straight side and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what i could use that wont make my hair feel hard and strawy, but would still get my hair wavy. Thanks for any suggestions (link)
You could use a diffuser- a tool that sticks over your blow-dryer that looks like there are little fingers stuck inside a bowl. Then just stick your hair in the bowl in large sections. Dry most of the way. Let it air dry the rest of the way and DON'T BRUSH until it is completely dry. Good Luck!

i feel horrible. its my 14th birthday today && i feel really bad cause i had a sundae at Friendlys. I ate a bowl of cereal in the morning (SPECIAL K) then ate hardly any of my lunch salad. I finished the whole birthday sundae. when i got home, i had two pieces of bread & olive oil. i didnt know what i wanted for desert & i kept opening things & then being grossed out by myself & throwing them out after taking a few bites. i made hot cocoa at first, but once i got past the marshmellows i dumped it down the drain. i diet all week & on the weekend i tend to splurge alot. it doesnt totally derail me-my stomachs flat again the next morning. but i think i have a problem with food. wheneve i indulge, i think i want to "make it worth the mistake" so i tend to eat alot of junk. my diet worries ruined my birthday & i need help! now (link)
I know what you are trying to do with the dieting, but you have to be careful, especially around your age. You need all the nutrition that food can give you so that you can grow into a healthy person. I think that you are just hungry. Eat an apple, have bread or pasta... something that will fill you up, but is also good for you. It looks like you were trying to do that. Also, don't feel guilty about eating a little dessert (or splurging on a lot of dessert every once in a while). If you're positive that you aren't hungry, find something else to do with your time to keep boredom away. Hope I helped!

I have the website http://theymos.com , which offers free web design. I get a decent amount of hits, but very few requests for web design. If you were looking for free web design, is there anything on my site that would turn you away from it? Of particular interest is my request form, http://theymos.com/recieve.php , which seems to be a popular exit point; is there anything unappealing with the form? Thanks much,

Theymos (link)
I agree with the others- the hard-to read print makes you a little uncomfortable. I think that you should also make it a little more comprehensive for the people who aren't experienced with computers. Why do you need their e-mail? What do they do once they're done setting up the page? I think you have a great start.

hello everyone-
i know that nobody wants to answer this question because its stupid and boring..but im begging you all for your help. i have a HUGE spanish project due on monday (10% of my final grade) and i need to know interesting facts or if anyone has a paper theyve written on argentina before can you pleaseee! send it to me..i wont plagerize it.i just need some help! please everyone.. (link)
I don't know anything about argentina, but you could probably find out a lot about it if you just do an internet search (like argentina-culture), or go to wikipedia.com. An encyclopedia could be very helpful. Teachers like to hear about culture, geography, famous monuments, artists and musicians that lived there, and maybe examples of the art or music. Good luck- I hope all goes well!

What are the best ways to get thin for summer which is very soon!
mainly in the the thighs and stomach!!
please help
what foods should i stay away from and near and what exercises? (link)
You may not have 'skinny' thighs and stomach, but you will look toned (which is even better) if you exercise. Just follow the general health rules. You can have dessert, but not a lot (one serving will do). Try to stay away from processed foods and fast food. Drink lots of water and make sure you get fresh fruits and veggies every day, if you can.

As for the exercise, you could do some crunches, lunges, running up stairs... running in general is very good for you and will help you build lean muscle. Tuck in your belly when you run for an extra push in that direction. Good luck!

no to sound weird,
but my aunt died a few weeks ago..
is there anyway to see or talk to angels?

i dont know
if there is
but if there is i would love to know

thanksss =) (link)
I don't know what to say about your aunt... it sounds like you loved her very much. I don't belive in seyonces or quigi boards or anything like that. But I do believe that sometimes you can feel someone with you. It's very comforting, especially when you miss them. It's a hard thing to not be with her anymore, but just remember the good times, and her heart will live on with you. I believe you two will see eachother again. Just live a good life.

i'm a size 7 in pants right now and my goal is to get into a size 3 or 1. please don't bother telling me it's impossible or anything like that. the thing is i'm SO DETERMINED when i go to sleep at night and when i'm full, but if i'm hungry, all of a sudden i lose motivation and decide bingeing on junk food is more important than my goal. how do i stop this? i want to lose this weight so bad. (link)
First of all, I will tell you to make sure that a size 3 isn't an unrealistic goal for you. You can feel good about yourself without being a size 3 or 1, as long as you are healthy.
Next, Thanks for understanding that bingeing on junk foods is NOT the way to do it. Keep good foods close at hand to nibble on so you won't be hungry- like trail mix, yogurt, an apple, bread. And don't completely deprive yourself of junk food. Just eat a little, and you won't crave it anymore. Good luck on your way to a healthier you!

Hi im 13/f and i thought you would be a good person to ask a question
to:)

Well at first i really liked my crush and thought he liked me too. he
would talk to me all the time, flirt, stare at me, ect. and this all
started in Nov. then about last month my friend said that she told him so
i got all scared and didnt want to talk to him because o he doesnt like
me and i made a fool out of myself. well anyways all of a sudden he
started talk to me. he would always try to since i stopped talking to him.
he tried to sit with me(this all happened in one day), he was flirting,
and then he was messing with me at lunch and at the end of the day al
the stuff we do. So things went back to normal and then i decided that
things went better if i didnt talk to him first all the time and playing
hard to get and i still do but its kinda a reaction (ill get to that
soon). so then on he would always talk to me first and we would stare
everyso often and flirt ect. then about last week i found out he asked out
his ex again and she said yes. my friend and i were walking up the
stairs and all the girls came up to talk to himand were like, "O she said
yes!!" and he was really quiet about it. then they all left and once i
heard everything i was completely filled with rage! he started to
quicken his steps so he could talk to me(he does that alot.) he was like, "Hi
Brianna (from Behind)." i didnt bother to turn around and respond. so
he kept going. "Brianna? dont you wanna talk to me?" i said no. he asked
what did he do ect and i just didnt want to talk to him. he hurried to
get his stuff and left his friends and was chasing after me to talk to
me. he was asking,"What did i do, i didnt even mock you today (this
thing he does to me. flirty thing only to me suprisingly when i say
something or do something and it just makes me laugh). i just said dont talk
to me, dont bug me ect. after that things havent been the same. i cant
get myself to talk to him. or its just not the same. he chased me the
next day and asked me what was up the other day and i said i was just
tired. then i said sorry and we started flirting but its jsut wasnt the
same you know. i watch him and his so called "Girlfriend" and they never
even talk. they dont do anything. then last Thursday i kinda
experimented and went in the same direction he was and walked infront of him so
he could see me and all of a sudden i heard his footsteps and he was
like flying down the steps and i turned around and he was cutting through
people and then the next minute he was right there and we were talking.
then the next day he did the exact same thing except that time he just
came up to me and just smiled at me and i asked what was the smile for
and he started walking backwards to his class smiling at me. so does he
like me?? i dont think his friends or anybody convinced him to ask her
out. they never talk at all and its all so confusing. he also told me
once that he liked seeing me sngry. what does this mean. hope you can
help me since you are older with much more experience. thanks. and please
just give me your best answer because i know this one is difficult.
thanks
(link)
You're right. This is a tough one to answer. I can't tell you what to do because I don't know either of you, but it sounds like he's a great guy, and he's just concerned about someone he cares about. Tell him how you feel. Don't get emotional on him or anything, but just tell him about what happened and how you felt at that time. Tell him why you ignored him for a while. You just had to blow off steam, right? But it sounds like this guy is understanding enough. He should come through. I can't tell you if he likes you- only you can find that out. I think that a little communication will solve the problem. There were a lot of questions in there- get back to me if I didn't answer all of them. Good luck!

Does anyone know the guitar chords to Jimmy Needham's Lost At Sea? I have looked in a lot of places but I just can't find it. I need the chords, not just the lyrics.
Much thanx! (link)
I don't know, but you could look at tabcrawler.com. They have tabs and chords. Is it the one where the first line is like, "How could you see what you see and not totally wanna disconcontinue me..." ? That's not a very well known song... you'll have to do some more research. Good luck!

I'v heard it's unhealthy to sleep too little and too much. However, that's all I do... I go to bed really late on weekdays and wake up really early. I've become so use to it that I cant help it even if I try to go to bed early. On the weekends, I can sleep for about 12 to 14 hrs.. If i wake up, I close my eyes and just sleep longer and longer and I can do this all day. How can I start going to bed early, when Ive tried so hard already and I just CANT fall asleep... I literally just stay lying in bed, eyes closed, for hours...Until the usual time I go to bed which is like 1 or 2 am. I'm not going to take any sleeping pills or anything like that. First, is it true that it's bad to sleep TOO much? And, how can I make it a routine of sleeping more on weekdays? (link)
I won't really repeat what these guys have been saying, but It will hep you to get into a normal cycle of sleep if you do this. Go to bed at the same time every night (or at least within an hour of the same time) and don't let yourself take naps during the day, even if you ARE tired. Soon you will be able to sleep closer to a good time. Don't study on your bed. It should be a place for sleep, so your brain will get into the sleep mode whenever you climb under the covers. While you are laying there, try to clear your mind of all those rushing thoughts by thinking of something nice (and not something that stimulates a lot of thought) like a cloud, or the ocean. That should help you to relax.
Good luck!

So yea. I'm getting them removed on the 10th of May. The party will be allllll about eating food stuff that I wasn't allowed to eat while I had my braces on for 2.5 years (caramel, gum, carrots, etc.)

What should be on the menu? =)

I'm looking for stuff that people with braces used knife and fork to eat (pizza, sandwiches, etc.)

Thank you =). (link)
I'm excited for you! What a great idea!
*whole apples
*English toffee
*popcorn
*nuts
*caramel (of course)
You know the things you couldn't eat. Just have fun at your party!

i really want to lose some weight in my legs, thighs and stomach.and just tone up all my body.going into the summer i really want to get back into shape.during the winter i have got flabby in my stomach and thighs which i never had.
i dont look tubby its just i feel i do need to lose weight.im tall for my age.

if you could give me exercises that i could do it would be great. (link)
Running is great for burning calories. You could also focus on those areas that you ar least comfortable with- crunches (side to side as well as the normal up and down) running up and down stairs, lunges, that sort of thing. Good luck!
