Hi, I'm Sophie. Welcome to my advice column!
I know I'm only fourteen and you may think that I know practically nothing, but I've been through a lot for a fourteen-year-old and I've seen a lot of things that other fourteen-year-olds haven't.
I've been depressed before and I've been through stages of my life where I've had nobody to talk to and nobody to turn to. I know how tough it is, so I suppose that's why I signed up for this site.
I want to help others who aren't as fortunate as I am now.
I'll try and help with whatever I can. I'm just starting out on here but soon hopefully my personal page will be slightly nicer to look at and stuff.

Ok I am freaking out right now and I really need help! Today During dinner I accedentaly spilled some of my milk on my MP3 player that I got for christmas and it was a lot of money! Well I just went to go turn it on and it's not working! What should I do! How do I get it to work! Please help me! (link)

Try drying it out with a hairdryer. I know that it sounds like really stupid advice and I'm not PROMISING that it'll work, but it worked for my cell phone!

ew... ya, this is gross, but, im 14 and a girl. Ok, I kinda sweat a lot... its weird because noone else in my family has had this problem. No matter what shirt I wear, I always get like sweat circles under my arm-pits, so I ALWAYS wear hoodies. Even in gym, we have uniforms, and theyre extremely thick, and I still sweat through it! I've tried like everything! Wearing 2 shirts just makes it worse, and anti-persperent doesnt work either. I also usually put deodorant on, and on the inside and outside of my shirt where I sweat! ITS SO EMBARRASSING!! I told my mom, and she laughed. I really need help with this one, any tips or any reccommendations are appreciated!! (link)

If possible, ask your Mum to get the more expensive anti-perispant as this does work LOADS better. Try not to feel too self conscious, I doubt that anyone has actually noticed. They're usually too wrapped up in their own problems!

To get motivated with homework and stuff, listen to your favourite music while you're doing it.
For general motivation and stuff, give yourself one night off a week. On that night, do no homework, have a big bubble bath and eat lots. You will (or should, anyway) feel totally revived by the next day and ready to ork hard.

Hey! Okay...really gross problem (and I only want you to answer if u have had the same problem and had it fixed) well i sweat really bad. Even without doing physical activity...it's really gross and I'm sure people notice it cause you can see it through my clothes (under my arms). I've tried lots of deoderant and baby power and it doesn't work...what should I do? (link)

Hmm...have you tried really strong deodorant? That might work better for you. Carry it around with you if possible.
You're probably being a little paranoid; I doubt that many people will have noticed.
If you have a close friend that you can talk to and can trust, ask him/her what they think and if they noticed.

Hey, so here is the thing. My BF and I were really happy, we loved eachother (and still do.) but what happened was he was supposed to move to virginia last month. So we broke up b\c we didnt want a long distance relationship. But then he ended up not movin. He told me this recently and now the girl who ALSO wants him is makin moves b\c we are not officially together again! So now the girl, Amber asked him to the dance and he said YES!!! But then he kissed me and said he wud go with me!!! I feel bad for him cuz hes hot and ever1 want him but i feel bad for ME b\c my bf MIGHT me a playa! What in the world should i do?!?!?!?!

It sounds like your boyfriend's mixed up and not sure about what to do with his feelings.
I'd ask him straight. Give him the choice between her and you and say that you won't take him cheating on you.
If he refuses, or chooses her, he's not worth it!
I feel a bit bad for him too, but don't stand for players! Go girl!

Omg, im stressing out seriously. Okay, well my boyfriend just broke up with me, my mom is always flipping out on me now, my best friend is mad at me for cutting. and nothing left of happiness is left in me. Treat yourself. Eat your favourite snack; go out and do some retail therapy; call some other friends. Try to remember that it WILL be OK someday, and that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
Try to confide in someone about your cutting. There are people out there who can help.

Don't be her friend. I hate to be ruthless about it and everything, but any friend who tells you to do such a serious thing isn't really a friend at all.
Try telling her that it's wrong. If this doesn't work, please leave her and make other friends who appreciate you.

Lol well every time I try to clean my room, I start with one area, and put all the stuff I do/don't want into piles. But I end up having nowhere to put the stuff, and kind of leave it in a bigger mess than before! My room is a HUGE mess, my bin isn't big enough so I have rubbish on the floor and on my desk. I want to tidy my room, but I just.. can't lmso ;P Help? (link)

OMG, I have this problem too.
I think the best thing to do is to be totally ruthless and put everything that you don't need in the bin. Organise say an hour in the next week to do this.

Yup, it's definitely normal and most girls do have this. They will fade eventually, but for the minute there's nothing you can do about it.

Ok.. well me and my ex broke up about i say a month ago b.c of some rumors going around and so he said that we should break up for a lil bit to let it all pass by then try back again... and its been lke a month now, and I still love,care, and feel for him alot. i try to talk to him about it but i guess u could say hes not the type to express his ways but he did say he felt the same way, but i want to get back with him so bad.. Aww...I was in your position and I never told him what I felt. I eternally regretted it, so please tell him.
It's hard to tell him to his face so maybe write it in an email? Or a text. You've got nothing to lose and if he doesn't feel the same at least you'll know that and eventually be able to move on.

my friend's boyfriend flirts with like every girl he sees. i always tell her and she was like "oh, it's ok. he's not sesrious." and i'm like yeah he is! he ALWAYS does it! Not just that, but she ruined her relationshp with her best friend to go out with him. none of her friends like him and they totally dont approve of them "dating" he's always hanging on her in school and he wont leave her alone sometimes, and then other times he refuses to talk to her because he is busy flirting with other girls. she's making a mess and i don't want her to. i'm trying to help her, what should i do? I think you should tell her that you want to talk to her seriously and then tell her exactly what he's doing with these other girls. What her boyfriend is doing is wrong-it needs sorting!

If a guy likes you then they usually stare at you a lot. They also use up any possible opportunity to talk to you, and know more about you than you originally though. If they're flirting with you, they'll drop you compliments and smile a lot ;-)

i want my hair to not poof during the day because it usualy does so i would have to go to the bathroom and put a little water on my hair so it wont poof. i am planning to go out and buy hairspray that will keep my hair stay unpoofy and stay straight for the whole day, anyideas? (link)

Hmm...the best ones are the expensive hairspray type things, which are designed to make you hair straight all day. Ordinary hairspray will probably make your hair look greasy, unfortunately.
If you can't afford that(not implying anything-I just don't know your age!), try straightening it for an extra five minutes a day.

hi,
does anyone have any tips on swallowing pills? i have to take some medium to large ones, and it's been hard for me to get them down. i can swallow small ones easy, its just those big ones. (no, i do not have a pill slicer.)

People always say that it's best with water, but it's usually best with something that takes the taste away. Try your favourite drink and gulp it all down at once!

Oh God, we all have that problem! It's soooo embarrassing!
I usually cough, but then that just makes the situation worse often.
Try something along the lines of, "Is there anything good on TV tonight?" or something like that.
Whatever you do, though, don't talk about the weather!

Hmm. It depends on how close you are to your friend, I suppose. You could ask her straight about it, but you'd probably startle her!
It's probably best to say casually, "What are you staring at? Have I got food between my teeth or something?" or something along those lines.
If that fails, confide in one of your other friends who knows you and her well and ask his/her advice.

Ok, im 13 year old female and just broke up with my boiifriend!! the main reason i did this is because i like another boii!! lets just call him "bob"! all of my friends think that i shouldn't go out with bob cuz he is a player!! but one of the security gaurds at skool told me that i can be the one girl to set him straight and that my friends should beleive in me. they should beleive in the fact that i could change him. but they still don't they say it's because they don't want me to get hurt!! sooooo..... wat should i do? I think I've heard of people like "Bob" before. Unfortunately, I very much doubt that you could change him.
When you're thirteen, relationships don't generally last that long anyway. Stick with your friends and enjoy being thirteen while you can, as most relationships end in tears anyway.

The people below are right; you've started your period.
I actually went through a similar situation. I was staying with Auntie's at the time and didn't want to tell them.
If I were you, I'd go out to a local chemist and buy some pads yourself. Then next time your period comes around (in around a months time) hopefully you will be a bit closer to your foster Mum so you can tell her then. She's been there too!
